  • great player

  • Truly a king......proud to be a Pakistani

  • what an unorthodox style of play, was this common in the early 90' ?

  • i suspect if you were a student of squash and played well enough would recognize that gameplay of a G.O.A.T. tends to stand out.Its in his footwork, ball control and in many case what look unorthodox is just deception.

  • Doesnt get much better than Jansher. The only non-Pakistani player that ever came close to that kind of class was Peter Nicol. Khan vs. Nicol were some of the greatest battles in the history of the game (barring Jahangir vs Jansher of course). Love Jansher (almost as much as Jahangir :)

  • I am a squash player and I love playing squash and watching videos of squash really! :)

But I feel bad about that it's not at all famous and not being shown on t.v at all... :(

  • He is sooooo chill when playing!! Amazing player!

  • @superfatty69 What kind of comment is that dickhead!

  • Holy crap,epic shoots

  • Terrific clip... Thanks once more, Zeeshaan...

  • Its amazing to watch how it really doesnt matter where the ball is after he hits it, he always turns and watches the other guy while he gets his heels on the T. Guy is a master.

  • Great clip. Terrible music.

  • At 2:04 Power has a much better score...

  • @brapsssssss still he lost the match, happens =]

  • @zeyshaan Do you know if theres a vid of the match? I would love to see that match.

  • @brapsssssss he has got a bad score but he still was a much better player....in 1997 when he was 27 he beat power 3-0......did not lose a game

  • I just discovered this game because my apartment I moved into has courts we can use and this guy make look silly.

  • I just started playing squash I am a 11 I've been playing tennis for like 5 years, how much of a advantage will this give me in squash, and like what should I change? please help (:

  • @jjbetts10 The only advantage you will have will be in terms of hand eye co-ordination and reflexes. Other than that you are going to have to re-learn everything. The swing is different, the movement is different, and strategically squash requires much more patience and a bit more discipline.

  • The great thing about this video(and there should be more of them) is it's a compilation of one guy winning rally's.Therefore you know exactly who to keep an eye on from the start of each clip, thereby watching how he sets up each one to be a winner. Also an awesome video of an awesome squash player.Much love and thanks for sharing.

  • @SteveSalisbury cheers - glad u enjoyed it

  • @pokeywoop never played squash, huh?

  • not fair not at all Jansher Khan makes it look easy like walk in the park :)

  • what is the name of the song.. please

  • @0111792551 The Hot Gates - Tyler Bates

  • tHE GUY WAS A GENIOUS, EVEN i NEVER BET HIM

  • I can't compare squash and tennis since i don't bother much about sport popularity interms of viewership.I respect both games for their requirement of high fitness and stamina levels. However squash is a much better workout even compared to tennis(which itself is an exhausting game). As per energy consumption levels, a squash game burns around 800 calories while a game of tennis burns around 390 calories. It is clear that squash is the best workout for keeping fit!

  • shut up,jansher khan is a very great player.u cant campare roger federer with jansher.jansher standard is very high.

  • They're slicing the ball all the time. Where's the top spin? :) Looks like it's not a sport for Nadal.

  • i loved the music

  • JK was unreal a master tactician. I am convinced the guy had eyes at the back of his head.

  • @Pakman12344 or very good hearing that could pinpoint the opponents position.

  • I have seen a squash pro try his hand at tennis and he cudnt even hold the racket properly..Every shot coming along his way he wud try to smash it liek a squash ball and it wud end up 30 feet in the air. But i'm sure a tennis player can hit a few decent squash shots..And ucant compare RF with jansher..Its like comparing cricket and baseball, both have a ball and a bat involved but are completely different games

  • @icecandyboy5183 I'm good at both, its all about getting the hang of different sports with their different techniques... Squash remains physically and strategically tougher though

  • @zeyshaan Squash is deffinately the toughest racket sport.

Squash also has the most heart attack victims of all the raquet sports.

  • @icecandyboy5183

isnt it kind of understandable that somebody used to playing squash and the grip you need for squash would mess up the grip for tennis, and the fact that in squash you need to keep your racket face open would translate to tennis balls hurtling straight up into the sky. i have seen plenty of good tennis players get absoluetly crushed by mediocre squash players when playing squash because they are strategically and technically very different sports

  • @MJtheKandyman I found that in both sports you spin the ball alot. In tennis spin help keeping the ball in court and in squash it helped fooling the opponent into thinking your gonna play some other shot.

  • @icecandyboy5183

ive seen a squash pro hitting some good balls at tennis .. i guess if u got a bit talent, u can play badminton, table tennis, squash and tennis very well! its no problem for me to play badminton after 4 weeks squash only for example...

    greetz

  • @icecandyboy5183

in squash its perfectly acceptable to break your wrist, in tennis thats like breaking a cardinal rule. I played Squash for 4 years competitively and tennis in the spring, when tennis season rolled around it took me almost a month to get back into the swing of tennis, I felt like I was tapping the ball along, where as in squash the mixture of light pushes and slams is far more prevalent, also its rather hard to try and whip a tennis racket at the speed of squash racket =p

  • @icecandyboy5183 I was number 1 in my area in both Scuash, tennis and badminton. I would say, badminton affects your tennis more than Scuash especially your backhand. Because you use the wrist in Badminton and the whole arm in tennis, and scuash shots you use your arm like a whip action.

  • @icecandyboy5183 my friend is a tennis player and he sucks in squash cos he keeps thinking the ball is going to bounce 2 feet in the air.. \(^-^)/

  • @icecandyboy5183 your're right but in this case a tennis player could only be good at drop shots

  • Great selection of points. It's amazing how effortless Jansher makes it look. He seems to just wander back to the T but gets there in plenty of time.

  • Squash and Tennis comprison? Might as well compare Cricket with Baseball hahaha.

  • gr8 work bro...i also loved ur arguments...Cheerz!

  • i like JANSHER KHAN so much.he is our hero.he was a great champion.sulute to the great khan

  • If you have played both tennis and squash, tennis is infinately more difficult to play, the ball control is much harder to achieve. For someone to dominate tennis the way Khan did squash is probably impossible.

There are many more tennis players out there that compete seriously, the stakes are higher, and tennis is more popular, so the level of competition is always going to be higher thus making it harder to be the absolute best for so long.

  • does anyone know the music?

  • He makes it look as natural as walking

  • excellent thank you for posting

  • Geeez, i swear that court is half the size of the one in which we play. This guy is everywhere.

  • Can you tell me what music is in the movie? Jansher Khan, can we compare him with Roger Federer?

  • More like: can we compare Federer to Khan? The answer is no.

  • @funlovingmonkey

Umm. Yes you obviously can compare Federer to Khan. Both amazing champions and Federer may well be on his way to becoming a pretty much undisputed goat of his sport. He is probably the greatest shotmaker tennis ever produced and not only does he have vast attacking flair but is also incredible in defense and at the very least very good in all other aspects of his play. Tennis is also a more global sport.

Much respect to Jahangir, Jansher and Roger.

  • IMO, Khan was much more dominant in Squash that RF is/was in Tennis. RF is/was great the number one player in the world, more Grand Slams than any other player, but Khan was just completely dominant.

Imagine RF winning the all the majors every year for years.

  • He pretty much does...

  • and reinventing the sport, and having his children become incredible squash pros in their own right.

  • @kckcmctcrc

History has shown it is far harder to be utterly dominant in tennis. It is a deeper sport and a more global sport. This is pretty hard to refute. It is better to judge relatively to the sport at hand. Federer relatively has an equally dominating set of accomplishments to Jansher. Squash experienced 3 consecutive periods of mega mega dominance which you just don't get in tennis; Geoff Hunt, Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan. Apples and Oranges.

  • @kckcmctcrc

Other obvious points you overlook are how homogenized squash is. Tennis players deal with different surfaces, trying to win every single major for several years is simply too difficult. All majors won in one year has only been done 3 times. Squash vs tennis = two different sports. Your argument is currently illogical.

  • @Oxygene13

    Excellent points.

  • Squash players have to compete on different surfaces as well, not every traditional court has the same bounce or the same feel of the walls, be it front or side and then the players also play on different show courts as well i.e: McWill, ASB & Anderson courts and each of those play differently, plus the weather of the area tends to play a huge part in court conditions as well. A court set up near the pyramids of Giza in sept. will not play the same as one setup in london indoors...

  • so anyone who is dominating in squash, is doing so in all these conditions and surfaces, other than that I do ofcourse respect players like Federer, hell he's the reason I watch tennis, and do realize that whatever players like him accomplish is also on a super human level but to belittle any squash champion's achievements in any way in the light of the surface-variety argument is not well founded... appreciate the input on the matter though, made some really good points

  • I appreciate your comments. I am from the USA. There is no squash on the major networks. I hear that squash will sometimes show up on the Tennis Channel. How would one know when squash will show up on the channel..

In my hometown, squash is only played in a few wealthy clubs with few courts. Also, there are practically no women participation in the sport, and little junior participation. In contrast, there are hundreds and hundreds of tennis courts. How do think squash can grow in USA.

  • @Oxygene13

all squash courts play at differant speeds, thus changing the bounce of the ball, a cold court with the front wall facing the outside will be slower then a court with no outdoor walls. Plus the courts that are put up for tournaments now all play in a differant manor!

  • @Oxygene13

Actually there are different variables affecting squash e.g, temp of court, court surface (plastic or wood), humidity.

  • @TheMRTJH opponents getting in our way or running into you. With Squash you sometimes have to think how to prevent someone from running over you. You dont have that in tennis

  • @kckcmctcrc

    555 consecutive victories... ^^

  • @ghp1974

Yep, both could/can pull out more or less any possible shot in their respective sports and both have won the most prestigious tournaments in their sports numerous times. Also, both hold claims to being the greatest in their own sport.

  • @ghp1974

In terms of style though, although Jansher did become more aggressive, from the outset of Federer's prime he was a whirlwind on attack; his forehand was completely and utterly destructive. I'm not sure Squash has seen its equivalent in terms of style of Federer yet. I think it's fair to say Jahangir, Jansher and Federer all have their own unique manners of playing their racket sport.

  • you can't compare tennis and squash in terms of style like that, its not possible just to play winners and amazing shots in the top squash levels like you can with tennis. Squash is more about fitness and moving your opponent about the court (which Jansher khan did). Federer is an amazing player but in terms of domination of the sport he has not done what Jansher did. Thats not to say he isn't the best tennis player ever (which i think he is).

  • make it 5:00 - 5:10

    fantastic! no words!

  • 5:03 - 5:10 .. just wow..

  • beautiful drive down the line at 1:16

  • impressive

  • Great music!

Where I can find this music?

  • it's a mix of 4 different tracks, all of which can be found on the OST of '300'

  • I love that movement at 5:06

  • Jansher is the Maradona of squash. In Egypt we have a lot of respect for him. He is an inspiration. Each shot is a piece of art. Truly great legend of the game.

  • Is it true that Jansher is very humerous? I read in an article that apparently he told some Dutch journalists that he was retiring from squash and taking up tennis instead and they believed him!

  • wow just wow

  • he's like the roger federer of squash.

  • He plays whit her opponent..haha

  • LOOK IM SORRY BUT THE BEST PLAYER OF SQUASH IS HASHIM KHAN he lead jansher to the game and they both are the best but Hashim is the number one squash player ever

  • Brilliant! I watched some of the U.S. Open squash players, and they weren't inspiring at all. Mr. Khan's really inspiring, he uses the angles, corners, and court edges very aggressively and strategically, and controls his opponents momentum very well. I could see he was clearly at a different level even before I googled him. Grace, elegance, beauty, aesthetics, sometimes I think these are the only real goal worth pursuing -- these are what make life beautiful.

  • thanx, shrewd observation as well, cheers

  • music?

  • He was really great player, I seen him playing and all i noticed that his legs are like deer ( Thin and Elastic) thats was his main weapon for me.

  • "he is so confident in his ball control, continually reduces his opponents options"

  • khan's the best

  • he makes it look so easy and effortless, while his opponents are mostly running around to keep up with him. he's a natural. true legend and a genius. nice compilation.

  • Anyone know the name of the song in this video? It's very catchy and fitting.

  • It's a mix of 4 different tracks from the movie 300... added them together so that they would seem 'fitting' for the video and yes they are all catchy naturally... thanx for writing in, cheers

  • it looks so simple whats he's doing

but I know its near impossible.

  • Like the music. Does it originate from Pakistan?

Either way it beats the crap the bus drivers play way too loud on their beat-up radios on the Karakoram Highway!

Jahangir Khan, Jansher Khan, Geoff Hunt and probably Hashim Khan - the four greatest squash players of all time. Arguing the order is probably pointless.

  • i knew him personally. my dad was his best frend. that is why i am number one squash player in the whole of europe when i went to the squash championships in london and i won the final against henry goodfellow. he was gd. i beet him 9-7,12-14, and 17-15

  • who are you? whats your name?

  • wats the song name plz?

  • jansher khan was the king..no body has and no body will ever come close to him in the world of squash!!

  • great video!... Its incedible how he goes from a defensive position to an all out attack mode..and the other guy is like wtf?...but what I like is his nonchalant lobes in the toughest positions...any one want to share their thoughts about jansher vs jehangir...I personally think jehangir is the pete sampras charismatic ...whereas jansher the federer...the machine...but ofcourse at a totally different level

  • Nice input and appreciate the positive feedback, if u want opinions on Jansher, then pretty soon I am putting out a video where the greats of today and yesterday talk about the KING himself, but thanx for taking the time to write in, appreciate it sincerely

  • Have you Posted the video ?

  • The way he moves and hits is so fluid and effortless... reminds me of Federer.

  • Federer's inspired by him, since he was doing it much before Federer n Federer plays squash as well, thanx for commenting though

  • Yeah obviously. In fact I think Federer plays squash pretty good, so he must have watched Jansher when he was at his prime.

  • I think its more like Federer reminds you of Jansher.

  • You're basically one of those fools who thinks "Kobe or James is a better player than Jordan".

What can we say but that You are an idiot.

  • we pakistani should be proud of this legend...shame on us we look at cricket n we never win

  • he had a lovely backhand

  • His brother Mohibullah Khan also had a very strong backhand.

  • Mr.Mohibullah khan's son shehzad bhai is one of the coach's in the club where i play, a good player and a very humble and kind hearted person. And his accent is so much like JK.

  • zeyshaan is there any chance i could buy any whole match footage from 1992 onwards featuring Jansher

cheers and im still loving your videos

  • I will let u know if there is a possibility, one ultimate tribute to the king is on the way soon enough, so look out for that, if u have loved these videos, then u will adore the one I am working on, thanx for ur consistent support and positive feedback

  • jansher in my opinion had the perfect physique for squash as he had long legs and he was fast and extremely fit and strong

  • great video! jansher is the best. he is such a smooth player who has every trick in the bag. fun to watch.

  • thanx so much for the wonderful feedback

  • hey zeehsan i really appreciate your effort in uploading these wonderful vidz...jansher in w/out doubt remains THE KING OF SQUASH...and those fools who think that modern players can beat him should consider the fact that in the beginning even after he started his professional squash he had no RICH SPONSORSHIPS from big corporations unlike these modern players and the kind of equipment and stuff, it was his pure HARD TRAINING AND HIS EXTRAORDINARY techniques that he is still rememberes as "KING"

  • i agree but it is hard to compare because now adays they have such better equipement. some of the egyptian dudes...i tell yuh.

  • I say this for u and for all the JANSHER believers out there, I am working on something which will shut the naysayers up completely, and then me, u and all the people who r in the 'light' will laugh and rejoice at the ignorant and ill informed ones.... I promise u

  • I am looking forward to seeing this vid...

  • love you king khan.

  • funny you show brilliant winning points for jansher in a match he clearly lost to jonathan power. might you be from pakistan? i don´t see khan or khan winnig a single game against modern players like ramy, darwish or even gaultier. just because they brought the game towards that level doesn´t mean they are the "kings" or "lords". childish.

  • Dude he actually won that match against Power! You need to see the match first before posting foolish comments like this!

  • One of the favourite talking points for sports fans over the world is how a previous ledgend would get on were he to somehow travel through time to take on a modern day player.

So,how you can claim to know Ashour, Darwish and Gaultier would beat either of the Khan's is ridiculous especially without any justification.

What have the modern players got over the Khan's? It's certainly not fitness and i've never seen anyone with shot selection, execution and movement as good as Jansher's ever.

  • May I add that I back the comment from Nickiboy10 a 100%... Thanx for watching n commenting, sincerely appreciate it, cheers

  • you don't need to try and force your opinion on every single supporter of any player who who don't like. We know that Ramy could beat Jansher but Jansher used training equipment from 20 years ago as apposed to Ramy who has access to modern day training equipment. Ramy is obviously a great player but if he played in the 80's and used 80's training equipment Jansher would beat him, but it would still be a great match.

  • (that second who is supposed to be a you)

Why is it that you have not yet put down one single positive comment on any Khan videos

  • dude you must be one of those idiots who thinks kobe is better than jordan.

ramy is not better than jansher, jansher at his prime would kill ANYBODY on today's circuit

  • Comment removed

  • well put, couldn't have said it better myself

  • I think it would be quite the battle. Ramy at his prime vs Jansher at his prime... hmmm... let me think. Both of them, in different eras, took on the best of their time and won. Two guys that won during their time... YOU CANNOT judge them against each other based on their playing style... they did what they had to do to win. Its an argument that will never be answered... and saying bluntly that Jansher is the best is in fact quite ignorant.

  • I don't think you understand the weight of the achievements and records jansher had amassed during his career. Ramy is not even a world number one. It's obvious you are a Ramy fan, and I am too, but you have to get your head out of the whole and recognize Jansher as the legend that he is. If you don't, well I'll leave you to dwel in your ignorance till Ramy retires and you realize what differentiates a legend from the rest of the players.

  • Well for now Ramy is still very young. If he gets his mental game stronger and develops a bit more patience I think he would dominate the tour and potentially build a legacy that can compare to the Khans. I don't know how competitive the tour was in the 80s so I don't know if 555 consecutive wins meant what it did then as compared to now (in other words if someone did that now it would mean a lot more). Either way, I still think Ramy has his career highlights ahead of him.

  • argument can always be made that successive generations of sportsmen are better than prior ones (in form, fitness, technique, what have you). but until any comes close to 555, let alone beat it, Jehangir will remain the greatest. We can start debating now vs then once someone matches this.

  • That's a fairly weak argument Kyokushin; yes I know 555 consecutive wins will most likely never be touched but to say that that record alone means Jansher is the greatest of all time is shortsighted. If for example every top 50 player right now was suddenly the level of the 100th ranked player except Ramy then he would have no problem getting a streak like that. It just means Jansher was far superior to the competition at the time, not of all time.

  • Bradman is considered the greatest batsman ever because he maintained a consistently superior standard throughout his career, a feat which has remained unmatched (bolwers today are better in speed and technique, would he do just as well against the likes of Marshall, Akram, etc?). Similarly for Jehangir, except he set the 555 record in a highly competitvie era and there is no plausible evidence that today's players are much better on average.

  • Actually Jansher was at his best in the 90' and won his last British open in '97. He beat players like Power and Nicol, which beat players like Greg and Karim so i'm not totally convinced Ramy would beat a 25 year old Jansher today... I mean... training equipment? Those guys where strong! Lower body strengt of guys like Barada and Dittmar. DIfferent training methods sure, but they where amazingly fit.

  • Which modern player including ramy, darwish or gualtier or any player at all for that matter has the record of most chamipionships won and winning 555 consecutive matches? none right. thats exactly what makes them the " Kings and lords" of squash.

  • That's assuming the tour now is as competitive as it was then.

  • wow, listen to these old guys. they were the best, they were the fittest... probably you admire the old "world on a turtle" thories because it lasted for ten thousand years. why don´t you make a marathon video? squash has changed. everything changes. gods and kings no longer exist. wake up! christ!

  • U clearly clicked on the wrong video, save ur breath next time and search for 'marathon videos' on youtube. Cheers

  • awesome video. love the winning shot at 5:08

  • my thoughts exactly!!! what a shot!!!

  • janshers the best mover ever

  • very inspiring! Khan is absolutly one of the best.

  • Very nice work on the sound, if you have a link to an .mp3 version I could download it would be greatly appreciated!

  • what's the name of the soundtrack ?

  • it's from the movie 300 but the track here is edited by me, taking 4 tracks from the movie 300 and mixing it together to come up with this six minute audio clip

  • It is a really cool one. Blends in nicely with the footage, very well synchronized. Did u study music in university or something?

  • No Riz, I didn't, but I do some choreography for myself and am big into dance (at times) so I derive the sense of music from there and then try to imply it here on these videos as well, thus always striving for synchronicity... Thanx for ur kind words and I am glad to see that u r still revisiting the video and enjoying it... cheers

  • Lol I actually listen to the soundtrack from this video on my mp3 player when going to university in the morning..... gets me up and running! The soundtrack from the other one (ur first clip) is also quite good but this one is my favourite.

  • An extraordinary video; I keep coming back to it. Great music, good editing and, of course, a master class in the game. Well done.

  • I appreciate ur wonderful feedback sincerely, keeps me going, thanx for dropping a line, cheers

  • the guy is a true legend....

  • indeed he is.. thanx for ur comment

  • One of the reasons for his apparent effortlessness is his choice of shots, as they seem to always be exactly the right shot and that gives him more time to recover as his opponent has to move more and anticipation is awesomre

  • very astute assessment, u r bang on there

  • the best comment

  • 3:21 - 3:28; he's so clever with his use of the lob... I'm just gobsmacked at his movement around the court, which is shown very well throughout this video. He seems to be doing it so casually it's like he's got artificial legs!

  • 0:47 is a beautiful strategic play.

  • Love the stuff you are putting up. Being 62 and having lived and played thru that era I think Jahangir clearly has the edge in the all-time stakes, but who knows - who cares, in fact? They were both phenomenal. Jahangir for me had just a bit more flair, whereas Jansher ground you down. In fact my real favourite (for flair reasons) was Qmar Zaman. Have any video of him? I have a little I can put up if I ever figure out how to do it.

  • Thanx for such a detailed feedback, unfortunately i got nothing on Qamar Zaman, but have heard a lot about the man's flair n grace through my dad as he saw him play a lot and was friends with him. I agree with ur observation of the Khans' playing style but u seem to have overlooked that Jansher morphed into an all out attacking player from 92 onwards and was finishing off the world's top ten players under 40 minutes regularly which to me is all the more impressive for he was known to b a ...

  • fitness player and the best retreiver in the game, this transformation impresses me about the man more than anything for most of the players we see or have seen don't change their basic style of play, that too after becoming the world's number 1 player. But Jahangir is 'JAHANGIR' and no one can take away from his achievements or stature, but to me personally, Jansher is the greatest player to have ever played the sport... again thanx for commenting, for I really enjoyed going through it, cheers

  • the khans both changed their game after the english scoring was removed

  • please put up the qamar zaman footage

  • got nothing on him, sorry

  • please put up the zaman footage

  • Are u deliberately trying to be annoying now, cuz I dont take well to such immaturity, hopefully I have made myself clear

  • sorry i typed it in twice by mistake and i meant to ask geoffretnbanks

  • please pt it up

  • ok well then I apologize cuz I thought u were asking me again even though I told u that I dont have any such footage... u should send him a pvt msg if u want him to resppnd, might b a better chance there

  • Hey whats the name of this song? its great.

very good video, i play squash as well. this guy looks like he DOMINATED squash

  • It's an edited mix I made for this video, so u won't find it elsewhere and yes he did DOMINATE squash and u can look up his name if u wanna know more or check out the Jansher 'The Lionheart' Khan - video I have posted to find out about records and facts about the man.... Thanx for watching and commenting

  • Zeyshaan!!! You are absolutely great!!! I hope when I have a son, I will train him to be a Squash Player like two J's. Just squash!!! Squash crown must back to Pakistan. Precious..... Our precioussss!!!!!!

  • Thanx for the feedback, goodluck with ur future son and ur squash ambitions. Cheers

  • excellent vid and nice music

  • thanx

  • khan is a legend
