  • Wish i could do that. haha

  • Dressage is such a beautiful and difficult sport. Great video.

  • Some of the comments on here are absolutley insane. A real shame! Heels are supposed to be down, but dressage requires many a leg aid and needs a strong leg to ask the horse for the movement.

I disagree with the statement 'dressage doesn't hurt the horse' -sorry, but it does.

  • wow they make this look so easy lol even though it isnt

  • Wanna know why I hate Paso Finos? Well because they are an unnatural breed created by man which causes this poor horse to lose all his gates that he was born to and want to run, and his forced to prance around in circles like a cute-sy little horse. All horses are born to gallop. Not to prance in circles around a ring for a lifetime.

  • @PoneeL0ver You know what's also man made? The internet. The beauty and strength this horse and rider have is incredible. And you can't possibly tell me that a thoroughbred was bred to run is any less man made than this animal.

  • My Welsh (after 15 years) is finally catching on. Piaffe is the best he can do, though. Lol

  • so jealous of these pro dressage riders, how they can make these horses do such amazing things, and u cant even see them ask for it

  • The reason the riders heels aren't down is because she/he is asking the horse to do the complex movements that they need to be doing. It won't hurt the horse. Unless of course, the horse steps wrong or something but they hardly ever step wrong.... so yeah :) great video!

  • very nice, they were dancing, it takes years for a horse to get that good and years to be that good of a rider. a friend of mine became a working student then a certified trainer of both horse and rider, even showed the lippazanner horses. they just don't let anyone ride and train their horses. it took him over 10 years to reach that point working and training hours everyday. when I am ready I will ask him to teach me riding once I reach the point of being able to have a horse.

  • Where did you get the videos?

  • i love this! the end is so cutee! =D

  • Damn...I wouldn't be able to sit that long on dressage!

  • My hero is a man named MONTY ROBERTS. But... This is Awsome!!!

  • actually in dressage it is inequivalent at this level wither or not the riders heels are down 24/7 this is due to the commands. the horse needs clear signals as many commands are similar :).

  • i love the flying changes, it looks like the horse is skipping heehee

  • i have onley been riding for 1 year so i think this and outher horse vids are awsome im going to learn how to canter in 2 weeks

  • @ndreko1 how is this boring?

  • I am a dressage rider, and I hate riding with short stirrups, especially XC.

tbh I usually jump with dressage stirrups.

  • stunning horses

  • a horse and rider have to have good communication in order to preform tempi-changes and if she and her horse have the right kind of communication then they can do it you don't have to be a master to train a horse my mare can do tempi-changes and jump 4'6 oxers and she only has two years under english tack and just turned 8 so ya you don't have to know the name to do it for all the care in the world she could fucking call it dancing

  • this is so cool

  • What song is this exactly?

  • Be careful, some rider will cut corners when aiming for the top! However the true horseman does train their horse for a lightness the promotes an effortless effect as Belorophon taught us centuries ago! If anyone is concerned about the welfare of the hore they should check out ISES, it's a symposium of scientists that look at all aspects of the domesticated horse in an attempt to create what they call "The happy equine athlete", I'm a member!

  • Oh dear! I can't even change legs every fourth step in canter. They do it every second! Oh my oh my xD

  • @dadusika05 do u mean change their leads?

  • check out my video

  • i did that with my pony bonny but it hurt me like hell dont worrie it wont hurt your horse/pony

  • dressage <3

  • i do both horseback riding and gymnastics and i have a friend that says baseball are both gymnastics and horseback riding combined! well buddo i got 1 thing to say to u and that is all baseball is is hitting a ball, runnig, catching and thrownig a ball but not at the same time. with horseback riding there is a lot to it and u have to remember to do a lot @ the same time

  • i luv dressage its so pretty! nice job! XD

  • dressage is the beauty of this sport, and horse jumping is coolest thing that you ever seen!!!

  • These are all natural movements harnessed by good training. Doesn't hurt the horse. It'll hurt the rider though ahah it's not easy stuff asking this of your horse. But you get used to it.

  • Although it looks nice, but I've heard it hurts the horses correct dol

  • Lol. I'll stick with my Cowgirl hat and western saddle.

  • why? english is much much better

  • better then western?

p.s. I ride english and love it!!

  • @Ponypal95 Haha I know right :D Me too :P

  • thats freaking awesome i culdnt ever do dressage check out my vids and subscribe!! plz! ill subscribe to u now!

  • erm......VERY GOOD WOOP WOOP -CLAP CLAP-

  • the stirrup look long and comfortable hunter jumper peeps have legs that have to bend to much XO lolz I love whining jk lol

  • haha yeah i rode in my friends dressage saddle the other day (keep in mind hes 6'4" and im 5'8") im not even kidding you, it was THE MOST COMFORTABLE thing i have ever sat in, and my hunter saddle is fantastic, ahhahaaha

  • haha. jumpers look like someones pushing them off the horse. not us we DOMINATE

  • @DemonKittyRanari This ain't showjumping, dear. The stirrups are supposed to be long :P

  • geat vid.but i'm not into dressage as much as jumping and barrel racing.haha i like the speed stuff:)

  • Amazing!!!

  • love the clips in the begining

  • Great video. People just don't realize that unlike other sports, you're partners with a 1,000lb+ animal. Even if they're deadbroke, it's still pretty dangerous. Takes skill to do what we do. Check out my page to see a video of my friend pole bending, (my favorites).

  • omggg thanx 4 sayin that,,, i tottally agree... thats y horseback riding is not like other sports!! ur working with a unpredictable 1,000 pound animal!!!! u dont know when a horse will have a good day or baad....it takes a good rider to ride through BOTH of those kinds of days!

  • @parkviewrider365 i agrre. but for some horses i find the bad days are almost as fun if not more so than the good days.

  • with dressage how do u get points

  • each movement is out of 10 nad sometimes a movement counts more than others so it would be mutiplied by 2 or 3. at the end you get overall points out of ten and the score is made into a precentage. almost no one gets a 10 and at the beginning even getting an 8 is GREAT

  • you really should'a used Anky or Adreas Helgstrand because this one has a weird lack of track up in his left hind. He's sound but he has weird movement.

  • Everybody i know that doesn't ride a horse says it's not a sport and it gets on my nerves :(

  • Great job =)

  • people think horse riding is such as easy sport you just get on kick and go ,but there is so much more to it than that its skill and is a much harder sport than seems and it fustrates me when people say its not a sport ,its insulting they should try it the they wont be laughing ,i only had one word to describe this clip with and it was beautiful the way the horse is moving and the rider as well you both are amazingg

  • this more adavnced dressage really looks like they are dancing ... its amazing

  • You know i always hated people who think horse back isnt a sport well, they laughand whatch and feel as though us getting hurt is there entertanment but they never think about how bad it hurts when we fall off thos people probally cant even ride a horse

  • they think it's easy,, well..we make it look easy to them but i know cuz i fell off my first trot and broke my ankle and i think i did something to my heel but i'm still riding cuz i love it.

  • ahahahaha just laughing at some of the novice comments on here!! Can't believe you guys are actually telling a world class dressage rider to push their heels down!!! YES you get taught that when you first learn to stop you falling off and yes you get taught to keep still so you don't confuse or hurt your horse when you don't know what you're doing, but when you get to a certain level and you want to do more advanced things a bit of movement is necessary to get the horse to respond. Great vid :)

  • @MissMunchkin100 adding on to that, with stirrups at dressage length having your heels down you cant exactly touch the horses side as your legs are below them, unlesss you wrap your legs round but then it puts off your balance slightly and turns your knees out to much.

  • @MissMunchkin100 that is very true!

  • @MissMunchkin100 exactly! obviously those people dont know what they are talking about..im preetty sure you dont get your horse to do movements like those by putting your heels down and sitting still xD. i train with world renowned show jumper helen mcnaught, who believes that there is no "secret formula" to great riding. she says having your heels down doesnt make you a great rider, being a great rider is getting the best out of your horse. which is exactly what this rider is doing.

  • @MissMunchkin100 I agree completely, but it is good that the novices notice and try to correct position.

  • @MissMunchkin100 Exactl!!!!!!!!!!!!. You all know bull shit so shut your faces. Your telling a world class rider that hahahahahahaha makes me laugh =)

  • Nice video :)

  • awesome stuff, just a question where do u get ur clips from. if u could message me about it :)

  • God Lisa makes the one tempis look so easy! I envy! Great vid! I hate it when people say riding is easy. I tell the 'you try riding a 1200lb animal with a mind of it's own and the capability to completly squash you. If it wasnt for the rider they wouldnt do any of this really amazing stuff!

  • Great video.

  • is this the sonG FROM A MOVIE??

  • good vid! It really pees me off when people telll me riding isnt a sport! :(

    I like jumping and dressage!

  • This is an absolutely amazing video, I really love horse riding, especially dressage, and it really annoys me when people tell me it isn't a sport!

    well done for making these!

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • the rider look like it is hurting her butt but w/ the stackers they put on the bottoms the there horses hoves thats what makes the so boncey *sorry i cant spell

  • they don't put all the built up pads on dressage horses that they do on the gaited ones...?

  • Aww why did you have to take the embedding off i wanted it on myspace

its a very well done video one of your best

  • odd music good vid.

  • Hey gymnastics 129 you don't teach the horse how to do this you give it signals and you have to have a lot of patience with horses if you want one.

  • I like to look at Dressage as a pure partnership between person and horse. A simple weight change of the rider gives the horse a world of signals. And you are right on about the patience:-)

  • First off this is why I cannot do dressage:

    1. Don't know how to even teach my horse to dance like that.

    2. Don't have that kinda patience.

    3. I'd rather be a show jumper.

    4. THE STIRRUPS ANNOY ME!

  • That's unfortunate. Dressage/flatwork is the basis of ALL good jumping.

  • Not really. Dressage and Flatwork are completely different things, I do flatwork ^.^ I just spent 1 hour lunging my horse

  • Obviously they're different.

HOWEVER, all great show jumpers/eventers/hunters do tons of flatwork, because it IS the basis for good jumping. It teaches the horse to be adjustable and move under themselves.

  • Good quality flatwork is Dressage. Even the best western pleasure rider knows dressage. It is the pure and unmuddied connection between the horse and rider partnership. And any horse is capable of doing dressage.

And a rider has no business jumping if they dont have a good command on their flatwork. Even a halfhalt is dressage and how about a leg yield to center over a fence? That is dressage too.

  • Lovely video... simply because Brentina is the star the whole time. lol

  • i would never be able to do this....I barrel race. two so Different things..i would be bored. lol. props to the dressage people.

  • dressage is sweet

  • No offence to dressage riders but their legs are like noodles flopping around on the saddle LOL

  • i agree, i can't stand riding like that. they just gotta shorten the stirrups!!! they'd probably have better eq too if they did that

  • Well the riders absorb all the shock in their upper body and half little weight on their heels to sink more into the horse and into it's movements, that's why the stirrups are at that length.

  • i know!

they really should shorten the stirrups a little

and in dressage aren't you supposed to have a still leg? well in any riding you are but especially dressage! grrrrrrrrrr

  • yeah obvisouly you have never done dressage before, it is hard to even keep your legs that still, and the stirrups are supposed to be that length!

  • Agreed!

Partly why you see some of the grand prix rider's heels go up a bit every now and then is because of either the certain aids they are using or a lot of the times because of the way they are absorbing the motion, so they are not flopping all over the place on the horses back.

  • yeah, i know it is hard not to flop around, so sometimes i even have to take my heels up a little every now and then, and i am very AR meaning i do not like to be imperfect while riding. . .

  • I absolutely ADORE Dressage... but even so, even though I know its for range of motion, I think that their stirrups should be taken up an inch or two... please don't hate me, I just think that the all-purpose stirrup length looks prettier and more comfortable...

  • I agree, but you know thats how the rider is able to get his/her leg around the horse to make the horse perform what the rider needs it to perform

  • i agree . but i love dressage but i cant do it . i dont have that kinda patienctience lol . haha . but i hate how the rider sits more far back then you should . it gets on my nerves .. then the heels . OMG IT GETS SO ANNOYING !!!!!!!

  • I know! Isn't that one of the first rules of horsemanship? "KEEP THE HEELS DOWN!!" Oh man my teacher drilled that into me with a 12 inch bolt! XD

  • nice jobb=]

    love it and the song

    lol

i subbed can u sub bak?

  • i wish i could do that. That would be my dream to do that well done video

  • This was a realli good piece x

The flying changes SPOT ON x

    Half piruotte FANTASTIC x

    The Cross Over FABBBBH x

    Everything was fandabbysosey x

    Go Riding x woooh &

    go riders x i respect yooo lot x =]

  • yeah it was great!!!!!!!! luv the song to it too! its a good song for dressage elegant and fun!

  • I love going to Germany for shows its beautiful and lovely its also awesome knowing that you get to go somewhere that is not in the U.S., and I live in California and I'm only thirteen so its awesome being such a young age and going to a different country even though I don't speak German.

  • yup!

  • Love it! :D

  • Amazing.... thanks for this video. Go Dressage forever!

  • OHHHH ok thanks

  • screw those arrogant ass holes who think riding isnt a sport, they couldnt even get on gracefully...

lol, sry, those ppl make me mad

  • for all the dumb asses who keep asking this. When horses concentrate or are actually using their mind they tend to bite on the bit a lot and fidget their heads, its not because they are acting up. they doing their job.

  • hell yeah =D

  • I meant the song was boring, not dressage. You're right, dressage is all about subtle communication between horse and rider. It's an amazing sport, believe me, I know.

  • no wayyy ws tht borin x its what they peform to it went REALLI well wit the course did you add tht?X?x Well dun x lurve ya films x

  • Good, but kinda boring. A better song would've made it more fun.

  • Awesome! Perfect! You can see how the horse and the rider is working together as a team! I've been riding dressage all my life, but my biggest problem is too remember the program :P Still AWESOME :D

  • butt?

  • Butt?

  • whered u get ur clips??

  • I agree With Below X

  • i think some of them actually do enjoy it... i ride a dressage horse sometimes, and he always has his ears pricked up and even when i just want him to do a normal trot, he goes all dressage-y on me lol

    i am normally a hunter/ jumper

  • Hummm...

To say something like that, you obvisouly don't know much about dressage, and horses response to this dicipline.

  • Yes, the horses trined correctly are very happy. But the horses with jerky, incapable riders and instructors are not happy. And the same goes for every single equestrian sport.

  • Call me an idiot one more time rox. At least explain your reasoning before judging, otherwise, it just makes you look like an idiot.

  • Can you talk to a horse? Can you ask them if they would want to be ridden? True some seem to enjoy being ridden, other times the rider is just good at sticking in the saddle. Dressage horses are a pain to work with, they have a lot of attitude and a lot are perpetually pissed off. You try floating teeth or giving an intranasal vaccine with one of them and then we'll talk.

  • Hex

Thats not true. Every dressage horse I have ridden has loved what they do. They are not at all nasty. And Rainy, who is the horse I show in dressage, and all of the other dressage horses dont have problems with the vet. They are great with needles, they could care less about having their teeth floated. Any horse can be nasty... dont discriminate against dressage horses... its not right.

  • Any horse can be nasty. Not just dressage horses. What alot of prof. stables do that pisses horses off is keeping them in a stall 23 hours a day, maybe that is why they were ornery? Thats just a guess though. Thankyou for appreciating and respecting the sport though :)

  • sheesh, wats ur problem!

  • @bcbeaupied in a way i agree? but i dont at the same time it depends realy true pure dressae horses tend to enjoy it like my moms horse he loves it b ut my eventer gets impatient because he knows that the x-country is next so im with you in a way and not :S

  • my horse is a dressage horse, I am trying to teach her some other things like jumping and a bit of games too but she absolutely loves dressage. Usually she is the biggest bitch but when I'm doing dressage on her she is really happy and she loves doing the harder movements expecially flying changes and passage (she is quite fond of them lol)

  • Huh. All I'm saying is I know the movements are challenging and attractive, but, like the disgustingly slow canters in Western Pleasure, it's not natural. Yeah, I get the fact it's hard, and maybe there are horses who enjoy it, but it takes years of training and even the breeding has to be right. I'm not dissing dressage, like they say, it's an art, all I'm saying is sometimes, under certain circumstances, the horses look pissed. That's it. I wish you luck with your dressage.

  • Actually all the dressage movements are natural and under certain circumstances any horse can look pissed.

  • Come on, you're saying horses do piaffes, passades, and passages on a daily basis?

  • not on daily basis but they do do it around in the field to show off to other horses, and don't say that only dressage horses know how to do piaffe and passage cause about three weeks ago I say a 3 month old Connemara colt doing passage after his mother.

  • I'm not saying only dressage horses do it, I'm just saying. By the way, it's saw, not say.

  • yes I know I did get throuch year 3 and people do make typos and you were saying that horses don't naturally do piaffe and passage and I'm saying they do.

  • The horses aren't pissed off they are just concentrating. The ears aren't back they are to the side because they are concentrating. Dressage is also a very hard sport and the horse really has to focus because the rider asks for something at every second.

  • I get that. I really do. I know it's hard for the horse to do this stuff, but flicking their tail is not concentrating, I saw no flies, that's annoyed. I agree it takes a tremendous amount of focus.

  • Acctually most horses flick their tail out of excitement, when I jump my dressage horse after every jump she flicks her tail out of excitement.

  • And they flick them when they're pissed. Just saying they do.

  • type in Blue Hors Matine, she flicks her tail all the time and she is definately not pissed!

  • I love that horse, and she lovers her job, even a monkey could see that 8)

  • its for balance you stupid douchebag

  • Ulla Salzgaber and rusty

  • waaao i love it

  • does anybody know who the rider is?

  • s dressage your favorite type of riding or do you just like english riding period

  • I ride english.

But apprecte all diciplines of riding.

I'd love to be able to do western with my TB but she is off the track and a little nuts to be ridden in that style.

I'd probally have to say english for my favorite, becuase thats what i ride.

But i have ridden/enjoy other dicipline, even side saddle! :)

  • Absolutely beautiful...

  • the chesnut is a right-sided horse....:)

  • how can u tell?

  • its totally as good as number one! its awesome! nice job!

  • Where do you get your videos clips from?

  • whats the song called?

  • its called "lets tango" its from the soundtrack to the dance movie called "take the lead"

  • yeah i love that movie! but i couldnt find it on itunes so i was wondering what it was called! thanks tons!

  • that horse at 1:20 had gorgeous extention with his changes and he looks so comfortable doing them aswell!

  • well i think its great...

  • Comment removed

  • Human beings are not born to walk like a ballet toe dancer. This horse is not walking; he is dancing.

  • True dat. Dressage horses dance

Other horses cant compare unless they`re jumping

  • he's doing specialised movements aided by the rider actually.

  • go suck ur own ass horses r born 2 do whatevr they can do and this 1 can DANCE! its dosent look gay its cool but i wouldnt expect u 2 know tht! it awesome unlike u so y dont u go take u and ur fucking mouth somewhere else!
