@thunderbird2341 Depends on how they'd ride Secretariat. Pre-Triple Crown it would be close with Secretariat by a head, but if they'd let him run it wouldn't be close at all
@ItsCappyBitches yah it would be funny zen would be like "Hi Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather" to Man O' War because 6 generations beck she has war admiral she has some great pedigree like native dancer, war admiral, man o war, count fleet
@iamborghini1, as a horse racing enthusiast. I'm just wondering? Do you make these same kind of comments to the Mormons? LOL. For having more than one wife? LOL.
First time I've seen this video, & I just love how frisky Zenyatta was before the race, and how easily she won! I sure hope she wins her 20th race, and does so in similar fashion - with style, grace, and perfection. Thanks for this.
Anyone crazy enough to doubt her greatness by examining her career should consider this. Mike Smith has ridden some superstars over his lifetime; Holy Bull, Azeri among others. He says Zenyatta stands above everything else he has ridden. To be so emphatic that Zenyatta is another class to the aforementioned horses should guide doubters in the right direction.
Let me just say this from the jump, I'm a huge Zenyatta fan and have been for a long time. I truly respect Rachael Alexandra and what's she's accomplished this year. She's no ordinary filly herself and has done thing's against the boy's that normal fillies generally don't do. But Zenyatta is a "once in a lifetime horse". To me, she's just a tremendous thoroughbred, whether she's running against fillies, colt's, or Rachael this mare is going to run down and go by any horse that lie in her path.
Strange to say after retiring undefeated, but her best trip would undoubtebly be 12 furongs. She's only ever just getting going at the end of her races for christs sake! Probably a whole 14 lbs better over a longer distance IMO.
I'll be at S.A. for the big day on Sat., unless they change their minds by tomorrow, Tues. According to the paper, they are even cleaning the bathrooms. THANK YOU, ZENYATTA! Her last major work was breezing 1.12. and change for 6 f., the second fastest of 16 for that day. Winning would be great, but the most important thing is for her to come out of this race in good condition.
They are going to have to add a lot of 0s to the comp. when her first foals come up for sale! USA Today had 14 handicappers for the race & not one picked her!! Red faces all round. C'est magnifique!!
How's that crow tasting. Taking nothing away from RVW, because he's a great horse, he had some physical problems. At this level the slightest little problem is magnified 100%. It's unfortunate that he couldn't come up but, Zenyatta would have beat any scenario, hand(ride)ily. Ears pricked and all that and a bag of chips a hoy. I'm surprised she didn't stop on a dime for some posing for the photogs.
I just checked the entries for the Ladie's Secret Stakes Sat., the 10th. Incl. Z., there is a field of 13 at this time. They will decide what she runs in next after this race. I never wish 'good luck', an old superstition, but I hope she runs a great race to her fullest potential. Keep on strutting, Miss Z.!
you know after watching this girl I will concede I don't know who is better, Rachel or Z what I do know is how lucky I am to see two fillies as good as Ruffian, and they are
I love the little dance she does when she is getting ready to race. I think she should race against the colts. She likes to have a target to run at. She could run at a colt or Rachel who likes to be in the front. Big Z my girl!!!
Love the way she looks. Unfortunately although Rachel Alexandra is extremely talented too Rachel photos like a goofball with that tongue hanging out all the time ha ha
I'm very glad that her owner & trainer had the sense not to race her too early, but let her get her growth, as she is such a big filly--almost 17 hands & 1200 pounds. When she comes out she knows just what she is there to do. It shows. I think her owner also owns Curlin, so think what those foals will be worth! I'm looking forward to the meeting on Z. & Rachel A. later in the year. Maybe in a Breeders Cup race.
The Motts own Zenyatta and Jess Jackson owns both Rachel Alexandra and Curlin. It'd be nice to see them both go to Curlin when they retire. Those matchups could produce brilliantly fast, but sturdy and sound racehorses.
Thank you for the correction. My wires were crossed. There may not be enough spaces on the adding machines for all the zeros when any of their foals come up for sale.
The way Z. moves, I believe she would make a wonderful dressage horse. Her piaf & passage would be a joy to see.
She is the best filly since Ruffian. However, no one will ever come close to what Ruffian accomplished. Ruffian was never in #2 for even a second. She won every race wire to wire under no whip. She ran away from them all. We will not likely see that ever again. No other horse can make that claim, not one........Zenyatta runs a very different race but has the same presence on the track, a great champion without a doubt.
Well I'm not saying Zenyatta is better, but the reasons you give for Ruffian being better aren't good ones. Never in #2? That's just a running style That's like saying her running style is superior to Secretariat because he'd lay back. Her greatness was her race record and her track times. Also that she was almost never asked. Zenyatta isn't asked either, and doesn't feel the stick.
I've said it many times, IMHO, I take a stretch running sensation like Zenyatta over a speed horse every time. I think Zenyatta COULD run the marathon distance and win at that distance as well.
She loves to show off, such a personality on that big, beautiful ,intelligent filly. She has already made her mark as one of the all-time best in racing. I love watching her run. She has a magic on the track that I've not seen since the great Ruffian.
What an awesome mare she is. Wouldn't it be something if they raced her over seas? Hey, if she can excel this well on the poly track, I'd bet anything she can run on turf too. I say they try her out in a turf race and if she wins (Which she will) forget the Breeder's Cup Distaff and take her to France!
In my opinion she is the filly version of Secretariat! She is beautiful and big, and also has a wonderful stride! I hopw to see her in real life too. Nice videos Larry.
Oh poo old whats his face, shes Ruffian reincarnated if you ask me. Secretariat never went undefeated and he never had quite the style that Ruffian and Zenyatta have. Those two fillies always look like they're out for a stroll when they race and Secretariat might have been big and red but those two fillies have a grace about them that a colt could never have.
I wasn't refering to the way they look. I was refering to how good they both race adn win. She is very much like Secretariat because they both win almost every race they run. Zenyatta is undefeated and Secretariat only lost two races when he lived. Now in a way you're right about how Zenyatta is like Ruffian, but my conclusion is we are both right in a way. =)
Good video work. May I suggest, for future videos, when the horses are nearing the finish line, zoom back slowly (instead of zooming in) so that the viewer can see the 2nd and 3rd horses to finish. This also demonstrates how far ahead the winner was of the 2nd horse.
I saw this race and I remember how excited I was when she started to pull away. I got so excited that I sprinted down to where I was standong to go see her
she's gonna win the ladies classic this year...I know it. she's a monster and she could beat big brown at 1 and an eight miles...i would make a bet on that.
too bad tough tiz's sis retired with an injury. she was peaking after that huge run in the Ruffian Stakes
This is why Youtube is great. Instead of the same old pan camera, replay after replay, we get shots of the horses how we would see it if we were standing right there at the track. Thanks Larry!
