first of all, its a book...written by a human being just like all other human beings, doesnt matter if he has a Ph.D...he is simply stating his opinion and therefore it is no more wrong or right than anyone else's opinion..anyone can write a book with their own ideologies..but do they have 100% truth? no, because nothing is 100% truth...im not saying dont read books...but be careful wat u believe...it may seem real to u, but real may not even exist...it may just be a human made up "word"
about that limitless imagination thing u said.i've already thought about it b4,and i think its very limited.and there r several examples.ex: try to imagine a new color.or ask someone who cant hear how he thinks the sound is like?
and if u keep trying to think of a new color, u'll see that everything u r thinking of already exist.even if u try to use something as a inspiration to try to imagine a new thing,u'll see that its not new,its only a variant of the old one
Because glasses and a haircut makes you a nerd? Glasses are very hard to cut too, so I cannot do that for you. The day I start taking advice from someone I do not know is the day I die. I'm doing brilliant with my haircut and glasses, chicks digg the glasses. Anyways that statement you made is very ignorant... No offense.
Pain is a byproduct of the brain, pain doesn't prove we exist, but it does prove that a brain exists. Now where is that brain? In your head right? Well, you think it is and you are told it is, but it could be in a lab somewhere. Pain can be stimulated by sending certain impulses to the brain. This is actually one of the paradox that the book goes over in the first 20 pages, its called, "Brains In Vats".
Interesting....but in a way it sounds like all this is a conspiracy theroy...no? It's easy to make assumptions about our existance. Sounds like someone is having trouble grasping reality, and trying to find a logical reason why everything is so chaotic in this world? (author). So he's researching about "Do we exist"? Or has he just compiled a list of things he thought of that he has no logical answers for? (just debating)
Well, the book is a compilation of many different paradox including the "Brains In Vats" theory. The book explains a paradox then goes over both the strong and faulty points in it. I totally agree with you though, it does seem conspiracy theory-ist, but at the same time I find it very interesting.
I have to read more of the book to make a final and complete judgement. Within the next week I'll post a video response to this video with a full review of the book.
Hey its cool if you know a good book, about Existentialism, but you should've just stopped there... Sorry man but you should keep on reading before you try to explain something you don't really understand yet... at least thats the impression that I get. so long
Well, the concept of the mind was basically explained in the book the way I explained it in the video. It would have taken longer to explain it in its entire form, but you are right, I should have taken time to think it out before just saying it.
Ok, here is what we're going to do because this is my video and I can be a douche about it. Any other comments you post that isn't a reply to this one is going to be deleted. I'm sorry, I do not pay for the company of an idiot. If you were to subscribed to me, you'd be a liability, I cannot have that.
To be honest I was thinking of changing it since I had it, but then again not watching a video because of a name is sorta. Erm, I dunno. Thanks for the comment thought.
hello dude, that was cool what you did with the video talking about the book. i was hoping athene and them would get into altered states of mind. like on dmt. salvia. stuff like that. im gonna read that book. oh and everyone talking about this guys grammar, you can all burn in hell.
Ouch that was a little harsh, but thanks for the comment man, lol. Yeah, anyone who doesn't believe me about this book, go read a book review or something. That is what actually compelled me to buy the book.
That's actually a very logical and construtive perspective. however, I would just like to ask, how would one determine their own imagination i feel that it is limitless as it can't be defined. Great video mate!
cheers! (p.s. don't be intimidated by the name, it was a spur of the moment thing. =])
Imagination actually might be limitless. I personally think it is possible. The book brings up a good point about imagination. Usually in monster movies or anything like that the monster has either animal or human characteristics, if it is a made up monster. Now, does that mean the mind is limited and only can use what it is given to form reality or new things? Maybe.
I'll make another video when I finish the book and give it a better review.
Thanks this response is going to be quick and short because I'm going offline for the night. Please note, I do respond to ALL comments as long as its manageable, so anyone below this guy will have to wait till tomorrow. Sorry, haters and non-haters a like I have to sleep, and its a normal life process.
Yeah, I look young, thanks for reminding me. I have a choice, in two years I either have to grow a beard or constantly show my ID when I want to buy alcohol.
Interesting stuff. I find it extremely amusing at the fact that you get so many hateful comments. It's ridiculous...And I find it even more amusing that after you reply the idiots keep coming back. But I find it comforting knowing that they're maybe...Twen. Forty-three and still living with their mothers. =]
Lol, thanks, its actually really fun thwarting them, anything to sharpen my wit. I was hoping to get better comments sooner than this one, but its video response on one of Atheneswins videos. So I expected to get an influx of his haters or something.
Once again thanks for the comment, I hope to see more positive ones, but either way, I'm happy with it, lol.
13-10= 3 minutes not 3 seconds. I'm currently on my comments page while watching a movie with a few friends. I really don't care enough to check out what that acronym is, just learn to spell, you'll get further in life, I promise.
I can point out numerous gammar mistakes in ur little statment above. I simple decide when and when not it is appropriate to use "slang". I thought it would be an okay time seeing that i'm not writing a essay or creating a novel. I can't stand it when idiots like you say that I can't spell, merly because I decided to slack off. Please stop commenting back, I hate going to this link, because of your very annoying voice.
Snakeeyes, if you give a monkey enough time they can compose a novel. I am proud that you took an hour out of your life to write that comment up there, this will the last time I am going to reply to you, you've tire me. Please. Do not reply. The first sentence you 'composed' while you were 'trying' to look intelligent, proved my point. It not a manner of 'trying' its a manner of doing. Those who don't try are afraid of failure, so work on that champ! You'll be able to do it someday! :D
Since you're on the topic of grammar, why don't you tell us the difference between "your" and "you're"? I just thought I'd bring it up, since YOU'RE talking about someone else's grammar, when you should really be taking a look at YOUR grammar.
Yeah, I tend to do that, but whether I use you're or your in that statement, the point still shines through. My point is, no tlkin lyke tis. I've read books on grammar, a majority of authors don't even follow it to the letter. IE: Herman Melville
Your: Used for possession or showing ownership.
You're: A contraction combination of you and are.
Now if we must play a grammar game we can. Would you like me to give you the difference between wear, where, and were? This is certainly trivial.
I was under this impression that I was replying to someone else, who said, "sgtsnakeeyes11 (1 day ago) It took me like three minutes. Your obviously dead inside. Oh, and your fucking grammar sucks dick. ?:D?" By the way, I don't agree with you, and I think you could do a better job at putting your thoughts together before you make a video; however, the fact that you're willing to say what you think should still be commended.
Right, there is wear, where, and were; to and too; there, their, and they're; lose and loose; whose and who's; let's and lets; it's and its; your and you're; and who knows how many other examples of common mistakes that people make on a regular basis. It is quite trivial to point it out when it is not the topic of discussion; however, when I see someone - who happens to be knocking someone else's grammar - making such a simple mistake, I feel the need to bring it to light.
I just have one last thing to say before I overload the server with my novel-length comments. While always being concerned with one's grammar - or that of another - can be trivial, how difficult is it really to discern between two similar words when they are in a language that you use every day, and one that you have possibly used since you first began to speak? Not everyone is a native speaker of English, naturally, but those persons still tend to have better grammar anyway.
You really aren't getting it. It isn't what you believe in, it is what it is. You came to that conclusion yourself and it only applies to me. Athene actually mentions in his video about that mode of thinking and how it was childish. Just because you think something doesn't make it true.
I'm not even thumbs downing these things to be honest that is one of my subscribers. xD
