For all viewer: I like Settlers 3/4 too, but is't same game than S1 or S2.

Settlers 5 is a big ball of shit, and Settlers 6/7 are good game but not a true Settlers games.

I dont get it, is this the first of the Settlers games? I used to play Settlers 2 Gold Edition reaaaaally long, and these graphics look better than Settlers 2, you could see every pixel of every building, person or else... One of the best strategy games of all time :)

The main différence with Settlers 1 and 2 is military training.

Settlers 1 : Soldier Level = Gold (in barrack) + Training (Sword skill + strength) + combativeness (victory + gold in stockpile)

Settlers 2 : Gold only upgrade soldiers

So S1 is more long to play and more difficult. More materials, more possibility in gameplay ... For me, better :)

Today, a good game is a soft with great gfx and finishing in 8 hours ...

Yeah, I also love how long you can play Settlers 2 until you finally win maps with 1 vs. 6, theres no better boredomkiller... Funny thing though, I cant quite agree with the finishing in 8 hours. Another one of my favourites is actually Warcraft III, and it takes 15 minutes up to 2 hours. I like it because it's so short and stressful and therefore maybe as demanding as Settlers, which took time and strategy. But this is just all opinion :)

Settlers 4 is the best, they would have to make a new one but with better graphics and new gameplay.

Oh that feeling you got when your village was starting to produce and everything was going great and the mines were in full swing and there was plenty of wood for building and everyone was happy....didn't last long did it? We had a pirated version of this game with no instructions - just working out how to play it was great fun. WIsh I'd bought a copy now and repaid the programmer his hard work.

This was simply the most playable and addictive game of its type ever made. I've tried many "similar" games since, most of them bigger and more complicated, but none have come close. I would play this with friends for 16 hours at a time. There was nothing like starting a new game, starting a new village and thinking that this time you were going to learn from all your past mistakes and make a super efficient settlement. Simply incredible game.

Do you know what indicates the red line in the starting menu? There are 3 lines blue, green and red. I know that blue indicates starting quantity of goods, greed amount of pc inteligence but I do not have any clue for the red line. Can you or someone know what that red line controls?

Yes, the red line is the rate/speed at which new settlers are created in your castle ready to be employed.
