If I'm right in thinking this episode was shown on 21 June 2001. The C4 announcer at the end says "the first of our quarter-final Countdowns", and from the Countdown Page, the first quarter-final of series 44, during which Number One was on, was shown that day.
I dont think it was quickfire enough. The fact that points for incorrect answers got passed over to your opponent, meant contestants were fearful of interupting.
Still, better than some of the crap on TV these days.
Bit of a shame that Number One lasted only one series, but it didn't help that it was in Fifteen-to-One's slot, or that the series was interrupted by coverage of the Ashes.

I was just happy to get my £500 for a fun day.

Purely out of interest, what was your view of Krishnan Guru-Murthy as host?
