@kyoukilis20 lupe didnt make lasers the way he wanted to, half of his songs were changed by his record company and he couldnt do anything about it thats why the songs have those horrible night club trance beats
p.s Common Market for ever and every last one of us
Man lots of music is depressing but for the one's who stand out and make music thats uplifting like almost everytime. Those are the strong people. I Give mad props to each every last one of them.. much love to the music and the people on who they are.
Words will forever hold their meaning, take these these in and clean within the shadow of your eyelids and open to a new day, revived, relived, survivor of the anarchy that has consumed us. Damn right every last one of us.
Do people really come on songs to argue about other ARTISTS?! Hence artists. Get the fuck outta here. People like common market are good in a different sense than lupe and em. All have good music. Dont be a critic, just listen and appreciate.
@kyoukilis20 lupe sold out. that's the definition of mainstream. most of the time mainstream isn't defined by the lyrics, but by the presentation. eminem is mainstream, but even as of late he's come out with songs that would mirror the pride of being a part of the underground. mainstream is exactly this; musicians who forget the beauty of being wholly original. presentation is everything in music.
@TheAffynity i disagree with you that lupe sold out. selling out is changing the way you make music, or present yourself as you say, to make money. he made lasers exactly the way he wanted too and it became popular because it was so good. he spends a lot of time on his albums so he can make them as good as they can be. eminem is as mainstream as it gets. he has been on commercials and he performs at the grammys, he sold out long ago.
I listen to Black and Yellow, and then I listen to this. When I compare the two, Wiz Khalifa is a joke. His raps are meaningless, just like every other mainstream rapper. But this just blows my mind.
Allright so i was reading the comments and some people were like "Best quote is from [blank] and [blank]." You wanna know the real best quote? 0:00 to 2:42.
Not usually a big fan of hip-hop, but common market's lyrics are just amazing. That's why I love him and Macklemore, they're not just talking about money (or at least how much they have) and hoes, they're talking about life and how we can make the world a better place. Deep stuff.
Something you all may not realize is that 75% of the earth is filled with absolute dumbass people. Most of the people in the world can't even comprehend these lyrics. So lets just enjoy the fact that we are the other 25% and love this music and stop hating on mainstream. Let them enjoy their music, and we will enjoy ours.
I just copped this album. and on a first listen in itunes i generally use the 5 star rating system to mark my faves. this is the first song in a long time where i've wished for 6 stars..
Generally, I stayed away from the rap and hip-hop genre because I essentially judged it based on what I saw in mainstream; lyrics based on an egotistical pretentious attitude. I didn't like that, and I still don't. But THIS is amazing. The lyrics are absolutely phenomenal. Incredibly vivid amazing music. Common Market, you are incredible.
"We bout to change the mentality of old world savagery into a new reality, one where teachers and lawyers will trade salaries, and liquor stores are razed to make way for art gallery's"....fucking insane
This is by far the sickest song i have ever heard.. my god.. you guys both elegant and intelligent, philosophical and relevant.. speak the truth and teach the youth about symbolism in linguistics, the truth behind simplistics ... every last one of us
SABZI...Genius beat maker... RA SCION...proof that changes can happen through time...love Northwest HipHop, Blue Scholars, Grynch, Common Market, cNik........

They see straight through the permanent bullshit like it was clean glass
Common thinking of our predecessors could've paved a cleaner past
Instead the weaker gave to their greed and left us with a broken world
Our last hope is a movement inspired by the power of the spoken word
