  • It amazes me that the same species that came up with the splitting of the atom is this fucking stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • Almost all of these tests were under 20kT, the same yield as the ones exploded upon Japan.

Some 90 nukes in the kT range were exploded in the air on US soil in Nevada.

A megatonne is 1000x bigger folks, Castle Bravo was 15MT largest USA nuke, nothing survives those not even steel war ships. (Bikini Atoll)

Some 50 years later these sites are still radioactive.

  • If you had just remembered to dust and vacuum you and your family could have survived the nuclear blast. The best way to survive a nuclear explosion is to bury your head in the sand or go to your happy place. A nuclear bomb can only hurt you if you let it. lmao

  • Little Timmy: "Say, what's that flash in the distance Daddy?"

Daddy: "It's ok Timmy I've just Cuprinoled the fenceAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH MY FACE IS MELTING OH GOD THE PAIN, THE PAIN!!!!!!"

  • I wonder how many chemical and hardware companies had advertising money thrown into this. This is how you create permission marketing... create a situation that will result in proactive sales.

  • It only worked b/c of their lead paint

  • "This is the Nevada Proving Ground."

I went there. Got Critical Rad Poisoning.

Remember kids, radiation is deadly. Don't go out unless you have a RadAway or RadX on hand.

  • remember kids when you grow up clean up your house and yard so nothing will catch fire in a nuclear test. but i have a question how are you suppose to survive the intense wind and how are you suppose to survive the intense heat i like how they just focus on house related things like yard and interior of the house and what about humans what are we suppose to do huh we wont need a house wed all be dead no matter what we vaporize in seconds or die from be thrown 50ft and dont forget the radiation

  • The scrappy house looks so much more quaint though with its feng shui garden next to it.

    The nuke-proof house looks creepy.

  • HA-HA-HA

  • Bullshit THAT IS A HOUSE HOW ABOUT LIVING THINGS ?WHAT CAN THE GENERAL PUBLIC DO OR PROTECT THEMSELVES AGAINST HEAT WAVE THAT WILL BURN HUMANS TO DEATH ?

  • Bullshit THAT IS A HOUSE HOW ABOUT LIVING THINGS ?WHAT CAN THE GENERAL PUBLIC DO OR PROTECT THEMSELVES AGAINTS HEAT WAVE THAT WILL BURN HUMANS TO DEATH ?

  • this is a American Propaganda to make sure everyone keep their house nice and tidy, also to keep woman cleaning the inside of the house everyday while the man work

  • KABOOM!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • despite the cleanliness of your home, at that range of a an attack, you're just dead. Sorry :/

  • You will not burn in your house because its tidy.....of course you still dead because of the heatwave and even if you survived the heat the blast blows off your head...and if you survived that too then you die because the flying glass made you to look like a groundhog :D And if god hate you and you survived all of these your house will fall on you...and if god really really hate you then you die by radiation sickness.

  • @Zappina And if god hate you sooo much you will survive and you can live like a rat until you die by starvation. So much for the fallout fans :D

  • Dead but tidy. Good combo.

  • where can I buy a nuke-proof paint? :-D

  • 9.10 "What can I do about it?" Errrr build brick or concrete houses instead of living in a glorified shed?

  • HAHA the local indian reservation is doomed in a nuclear attack.

  • i really don't think having an dirty house burning down matters much when that kind a bomb blows up

  • Godlie!!, now I know how to survive a 20 megaton nuclear explosion right above my house... keet it clean a neat. yeah, that's the way to do it.

    yeepieeee!

  • See Bitch this is why i make you clean the house!!!

  • It was brought to us by a paint company, I think it was just a marketing device. Also I think that if I lived close enough to the blast that fires are igniting wouldnt I just get vaporized?

  • @modernwarfare9009 The flash emitted by the initial detonation is intense enough to ignite stuff outside the blast area.

Plus, you know, lead paint and all :P

  • 7:05

  • Man ppl were stupid back then.... clean house or not if a nuke goes off and your house is near it you are fucked plain and simple.

  • Martha Stewart's Nuclear Salmon, Atomic Mauve, and Radioactive Coral: They prime as you paint!

[**Martha Stewart's "Survive the big one" Summer Paint and Varnish series does not protect against nuclear winter. For best results, use on lead walls.]

  • @tradutom have to repost this response. great!

  • No wonder we have birth defects and cancer... they just blew bombs up to see if newspaper would catch fire in extreme heat situations... mmmm, poignant research.

  • wow! Wowie WOW! fun video! proves my theory that we've all evolved from stupider people.

  • Why did we create these things?

  • See that baby carriage? A way of just kind of scaring people into doing the right thing.

Ain't it funny how that usually works? Forever in our lifetime scaring people into doing things always works. Unless they scare you back.

  • hahahahaha i cant believe this nonsense.

  • Oh my fucking god! I don't know whose the bigger idiot.... The guy that produced this shit film, or the people leaving actual comments in response to this propaganda! Man, I can't believe that in this day and age, they can still rope people in with this shit! Back then I could understand... Bomb shelter sales were through the roof after they scared the living shit out of people with films like this! Oh no, the big one is coming, but if you buy our paint, clean your yard ot buy our bomb she

  • 4:59 "as if it had been delibritely fired with kimlin" uhhhhh maybe it was b/c the way i remember that house's roof was completely torn off in the blast

  • So if you spend 24 hours a day cleaning and repainting the house, you'll survive nuclear war even if you're right under the blast?

  • Who cares?

If you were in the house you would be dead from radiation and if you were not there you would not be able to move into the house for another 20 years

  • Comment removed

  • Totally Fake

  • I don't get it. The "house on the right" 4:59 now has a roof??? ... me za think it was old big brother 'trying' us how to keep it clear out of fear... but then what's the point you'd be dead anyway. LOL!

  • they were in the same place, it was the camra angle

  • The first house shielded the 2nd. The 1st house with clutter looked clean compared to most. They do all this planning and fail to put them it equal positions facing the blast. That would be 98% of the equation. Like the music and love the CD symbol.

  • What a buch of toss...

  • whooooo ay up

  • Just remember people, if you paint your house white and keep a clean house, you too can survive global thermonuclear war.

  • I guess if you had concrete as a front and back yard you'd be safe.

  • check out

    survivetheapocalypse . net

  • Good lord.. I wonder if Sherwin Williams ever traded on this... 8 years all-weather paint, good up to 4000 Rontgens...

  • I guess good houskeeping could possibly has saved a house in 1950 from those attomic blasts back then if ths soviet union could had got their bombers over the U S mainland lol and bombed a city.

Wonder how good housekeeping would protect a house from a 500 KT blast, to several megatons

  • And all the surviving snobs will die of cancer. Or they'll commit suicide because all the low income earners aren't around to do the chores and dirty work.

  • I hope somebody slapped this guy in the face for making such a stupid video.

  • This just shows to what extent a government will lie to its citizens.

The agenda of pushing the poor to clean up thier homes. Truly amazing to what extent gov'ts go to (control by fear) to push poor people by social pessure from neighbours to adjust or get run out of town.

  • either way u will fry inside the house lol

  • wtf is this? dropping nukes just to make people clean their houses... as if a nuke will come

  • If you have to worry about fire the radiation will have already killed you.

  • It is sad... they didnt have humans to test on, so they didnt know that the shochwave brought pressure to crush like you like an egg, and the flash is bright enough to melt your eyes.

  • @woofwoofdog9 I'm pretty sure they knew that stuff because of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They were just lying their asses off about how bad it would be, because you can't tell the public "Yes, our civilization will be destroyed and you will almost certainly die a nasty death if we have a nuclear exchange with the Soviet Union. By the way, let's build more nuclear weapons. And don't forget to vote for me."

  • Hey there were humans that survived both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

  • People have also survived being shot repeatedly. It doesn't mean it's terribly likely.

  • @Suojeluninja Yeah...some of them were in Milwaukee at the time.

  • conclusion: "Exercise wholesome living or the bomb will kill you slobs."

  • Neatness will keep you safe from the nuclear weapons!

    Duck and cover!

  • Keep your house clean and painted white, or the agents of the National Clean Up-Paint Up-Fix Up Bureau will get you!

  • I will be sure to keep a tidy house from now on this is so great. I now know how to survive an atomic blast.

  • Just keep living in a empty house no books no wooden stuff nothing, have a cemented yard no nature and no toys and tools, so you can resist a blast but mostly enjoy life before !!

  • Theres no way like the american fuck

  • next video we should see the houses filled with humans

  • "let's waste a couple of nukes to see of a tidy house can take a nuclear blast and resist a lot more than a poorly maintained counterpart!"

    "Sure!"

  • Great! Now I can get someone to blow up my house when its clean! oops sorry mom...i blew up the house after i cleaned it...

  • So, with a lick o' good lead based paint AND a little asbestos and we can have as many nuclear wars as we want.

Aaah, delightful. Might just light up a king size cigarette and watch the fire works.

  • this video proves how today's ghetto trash is killing america .. but the liberal media wants to say different.

  • What's the point of fire prooving for a nuke when the initial blast can blow your house ...

  • @Pupixario All these American films always showed effects well outside the target area, where most people don't live or work.

  • Ooooo so if I put those magazines in a drawer instead of leaving them on a table, my house is nuclear blast proof ;) (Y) was everything backwards in the 50's?

  • Yay for Nuclear Era propoganda!

  • keeping your house clean protects from nukelear weapons?!

    wtf

  • I think it's important to note that the paint at the time was likely lead based. That would cause a fairly noticeable reduction in exterior damage by the lower yield atomic weapons of the era.

  • meaning you would be slightly less dead

  • Clean up your yard so you can have a better looking house when the city is mostly destroyed and covered in deadly radiation.

  • @proaudiohd Make sure you wear newly pressed clothes and a tie and trim your hair military style or you will die in a nuclear bomb! Also it helps for women to do all the cooking and cleaning all the time while the man sits in the den smoking a pipe ... this is important to surviving a nuclear explosion.

  • Wups I mean "die in a nuclear explosion", lol.

  • That's my cribb fucked then!

  • I don't understand why nuclear bombs weren't utilized as a helpful tool of the urban renewal movement of the 1950s and '60s, in which slum areas in American cities were demolished. We can clearly see here that the rundown, trash-strewn and unpainted parts of the average American town would be cleared quickly and effectively by the cleansing flames of the atomic blast, leaving the better-kept neighborhoods unburned. In a flash, literally!

  • i love how he says the phrase "slum areas" with that contempt in his voice haha. almost like he's wanting the nukes to start falling like they're great urban renewal tools or something. also love how the vid basically gives women another reason to stay home cleaning - it could save the house from a nuclear attack! classic '50s intolerance of lower classes and women

  • I have such a big wet dick up my arse and im a lower class woman

  • C'mon guys....if the Clean Up-Paint Up- Fix Up Bureau said its true...its GOT to be true!

Also the government would never lie or say anything to mislead us ever.

  • ony one question i have.........

what good is a house still standing if all the ppl inside are killed from the heat wave or the blast?

  • not to mention that with the roof blown off, even if you survive initially you'll have no protection from fall out

  • also i wonder if the house in the middle could take a direct hit from the 50 MT Tsar bomb???

  • gloss white paint will deflect the blast totally. Also arranging your futniture in the correct way and keeping plants watered will make the difference between life and death...

  • Yes hmmm... and i suppose the shockwave itself will not pose a problem..

  • time to go to LOWES

  • haha!!! lol but they dont make houses like that nowadays it more like the middle ow but not as good

  • I better clean my room

  • Nukes arnt so bad if your house is clean and painted with quality lead paint:)

  • serioslyu???

  • There is something to be said about not having combustibles sitting around though. I will give them that.

  • Paint does not stop a nuclear blast XD.

These videos are fascinating because this, like duck and cover, try to put some kind of 'sensible civil' 1950's face on nuclear annihilation.

We were so silly back then.

  • I was actually comparing the blast damage in the second part of the test to tornado damage.

  • wow okay lets a bomb dropped a fence catches on fire you are already dead because of the heat and or radiation besides i dont think the nuke is gonna be that tidy anyway.

  • how could the explosion cast a shadow? 6:50

  • bravo

  • Well, I live in an untidy corner house with blue paint (not white). I guess I'm doomed. Nice knowing all of you!

  • wow, how much nuclear waste did they use, just to show us this film.

  • I dont think the bomb cares about who is tidy or not.

  • Ya all nbc weapons

  • I'm sitting here in my house, looking at a stack of old magazines. I'm not going to clean it up, I only ask that your pray for me when one of these bombs get dropped far enough away from my house that only the heat wave hits the magazine stack and eventually burns my house down cause i won't know how to put it out.

  • the music at around 6:15 is from the first season of superman

  • Damage? Yes. Radiation, all over the fucking place. Did these guys really believe this stuff? Were they completely out of their minds?

  • This was just a fear tactic to get people to buy brand new, futuristic-looking houses. (with mortgages that will

cost more than the house in the next few decades)

How do you know that the house on the right wasn't rigged to burn.

Nothing gets people of their sofas to start painting and cleaning up their house, like 'fear of annihilation from atomic bombs'.

  • There's nothing stupid about this. It doesn't say you'll survive in a tidy house. It simply shows that absent or reflective combustibles reduce the chance of fire, and subsequently, reduce the progress of the firestorm in a bombed city.

This really does happen. Google Hiroshima. The city way obliberated by the following firestorm, because there were lots of wooden, non-painted structures which caught fire. Many people, that would othervise have a greater chance of survival, died because of this.

  • u can't spell u spammer fucker

  • faggot mutley 26

u don't have the right to hate all muslims you don't even know thr religion

  • i guess if you know they are Muslim, you're pretty close to knowing their religion.

But yes, of course 'hate' based on religion is crass and the domain of the stupid.

  • @two3two6 yet you utter the epithet "faggot"

  • i saw this on some channel at 545am one morning when i woke up with heartburn

  • Atom bombs don't kill people, NEWSPAPERS DO!

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha wow this is funny.

  • ha ha back in the day the paints had lead in it that was what help most in the protection of the fense this was one way to the ghettos farther away from the clean house

  • Is scientificaly demonstrated how the probabilities of surviving during an atomic blast increases if you are wearing an Armani suit.

If you are poor and have another priorities over repaint the house once a year you will die.

It is a liar and discriminatory video.

A-bombs kills and destruct everything in the explosion way.

  • "This Public Service Announcement brought to you by Dulux Paint"

  • Wife:Honey,a hydrogen bomb just detonated downtown!Husband:Gee,we're lucky I repainted the house last weekend!(continues reading paper and smoking pipe)

  • What difference does it make? Your screwed by fallout.

  • Spic

  • you will certainly die, but with a standing house ppl will say "my! What a tidy family they were!". lol.

  • DAMN I hope my house has nuke insurance : )

  • The dude at 8:26 forgot his radiation suit!

  • lol the outer, cleaner fences were slower to burn...

  • Clean your room, or else!

  • Remember to clean and paint your houses. That way when they come in to remove your charred, shrapnel riddled and radioactive remains from the table you've ducked and covered under, your house will be presentable.

  • What a bizzarre video. I'd better go and clean my house.

  • it was hot enough to set stuff on fire...i bet i will set u on fire whether its clean or not :P

  • wow. the 50's its nukes. 2000+, it's terrorists. governments don't change do they?! keep everyone scared, not informed.

  • Just to answer the obvious question. No, the people in the 50's weren't so stupid as to not believe in Radiation. They believed women were stupid enough as to not believe in radiation.

This should be retitled to "Women in the Atomic Age: Shut up and Clean Our Homes"

Seriously, the stupidity is too great for it to be anything else. ANY form of paper or light material can act as kindling (like books). And no matter how much you dust those books, they'll still burn your house down.

  • Gotta Love These 1950's Propaganda Films! lol

  • I wonder how bombs in took before they got the right take.

  • Paint your house and it will survive the thermal flash! I love these taming videos.

  • A house, in the middle of a street.

  • Make sure your house is clean and tidy in case of atomic attack. The area would be so contaminated with radiation you wouldn't be able to go back for years anyway!

  • Wow were people that dumb in the '50s?

  • And no one has that much garbage in their backyard.

  • Slum area's. ahah

  • in the event of a nuclear attack, please keep your house orderly and cleen

  • dude, according to the miniature house thing, i would be the first person dead!

  • At least there would be no major losses... ;)

  • I agree this video is far fetched but the main point of observation is the white or light painted buildings reflecting the flash light.

  • lol ridiculous

  • See if you can spot the ulterior motive in the film

  • LOL every house is doomed if an a bomb hit

  • if your sitting in that plastic covered chair your shrinkwrapped!!

  • ha ha .. anyone ,anything near as that would be burned ,blasted away and if that didn't get you , you will die of cancer later .. f##k these death weapons. i hate them

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Seriously, anyone in either house would be dead. Does anyone actually believe otherwise..... goodness

  • but wouldnt you want your house to survive, even though the roof is gone and you were burned to death, XD, just joking, lol

  • where can i buy that paint???

  • The house in the middle was painted with lead based paint!!

  • LOL, true. In the 1950's, most commercial paints sold to consumers were still chock full of lead. The sad bit is, the reason that lead was used in paints for so long (up until the 1970's) was that it produced a tough, very durable and long-wearing paint. Great vid though, I love the 50's nostalgia.

  • So I guess the getto would burn up before the clean areas lol

  • Wow, this would be a great way for Obama to clean up our cities. Drop a little nuke here and there and all of the bad parts of town would be burned to the ground and all of the well kept and maintained houses and buildings will be fine (just a little charring on the outside)...problem solved!!! This is hilarious!!!

  • It's amazing how stupid US propaganda was. I've always wondered what US propaganda today would look like, maybe one day we'll start spewing it again.

  • um sorry to say but you are an idiot. Where did you get the idea that there isn't propaganda in the united states? haven't you seen those commercials claiming that there is actually something called clean coal?

  • So if you dont keep your house spick and span when the bomb drops it will burn down, funny how this idiot didnt mention the fact you would have been burnt to a flippin crisp just after your eyes were melted out there sockets!, and maybe the guy walking around inspecting the debris should have been a little more concerned about radioactive fall out, having done 20 years in the atomic industry I would have been.

  • rofl - well I got my nuts blown out of my eye sockets, but my tidy little house didn't burn like those trashy neighbors of mine.

  • So, they droped like what, 3 nukes for this video?

  • right..look at all the wasted tax dollars. I could have done this with the exhaust of an F-86 and saved them millions.

  • Well, yes, but remember back in the 50's nuclear tests were so common they were included in weather reports: "Cloudy, highs in the 60s, and 50% chance of fallout in Lander, Eureka and Nye counties."

  • It's probably more likely that the three tests were at different locations in the proving ground around the same bomb.

  • DUCK AND COVER
