Seriously why is everyone whining about optical drives? What do you use your optical drive for? I'm not generally installing software on the go. All my music is already on my computer so why should I need to play a CD. I don't watch my DVDs with my computer on the go, but I do have a few on it in case I get extremely bored... I think I've watched a DVD on my laptop twice... maybe. Just keep an external at home.

Have it and love it. The downside to this laptop is the graphics card, but since I don't do much intense gaming or movie watching - not a big loss. It's super light - fits in my backpack nicely.

Yea that sucks that it does not have an Optical Drive, just another thing you would have to buy and haul around with you on those long business trips plus dealing with all the USB Cables... So not worth the $1000....

Toshiba computers usually never appeal to me, and this appears to be no exception. I mean finally a Toshiba notebook that isn't glossier then the back of my black Nintendo DS, and it's been plagued by the Intel GMA 950, and Windows XP. Put Vista in there and give it a GMA X4500 (or at LEAST the X3100) and you've got yourself a real computer.

It doesn't have a DVD drive...that's going to be awkward trying to re-install XP/Vista if you format...or in fact its going to be tricky install anything that isn't stored on a USB stick.
