Alright, i admit it she did a fine job trying but is is just me or did she screw up the lyrics at 1:19- The CORRECT lyrics are "There's only yes, only tonight" yet it sure as hell sounded to me like she said "There's only THIS, only tonight", not a huge deal but I liked the lyrics the way they were

Okay. Neil Patrick Harris - please don't direct/ruin any other great shows. Vanessa is just a train reck. I'm a fan of Aaron, but I don't like him for this part - I don't believe him as a punk rocker with aids. I feel like this whole production was all about money. Word of advice, the show was amazing and it closed, so just leave it as it is. They're lucky Jonathan Larson didn't see this.

She's actually not bad at all!! In fact I think and please no one shoot me for saying this, should could have played the role on Broadway. She is not a terrible singer, she is just associated with HSM all the time. She's pretty good. i had low expectations of her in this role but she is not bad at all.

I'm so divided on her performance...I can tell that she has a good voice, but she talks and sings like a little kid, and I'm getting no emotion from her. All I see is her singing the lyrics and moving her body in a way that should convey emotion, but doesn't.

I got to see this at the Hollywood bowl, and the whole thing about V is really 50/50. Not bashing or anything, but she really doesn't have the Broadway and RENT experience that the others did. On some songs, she didn't do as well as she could have, but on others she did quite well on. In the performance I saw her blocking and stage work was a little off- and inflections on lines and stuff. All together i loved the show and though she deserves credit for doing so well without Broadway experience.

I think Vanessa did best with this song. She's not cut out for heavy dancing while singing and this gave her the chance to just kind of stand and sing.

And she certainly isn't horrible. She did a great job. I read a lot of reviews that said she was off key for most of the evening. But she's right on during this song.

In the licensed version of RENT that goes out to community and other productions renting the rights (I've seen countless local and school productions) - the lyrics to the second verse go "There's only this, only tonight" and she did it every night of the show and in the dress rehearsal. Don't bash her for singing the lyrics she's given.
