hi there, is there a possibility of you showing us how to turn a solidworks *.par file to a CNC operable code, or how to convert the par file that MasterCamX can spit out the G codes?
As I said in the video, it took me a whole weekend to get the program optimized for this simple part, however,I could re-use those parameters for other similar parts.
The marketing mistake that CNC software is making is in shipping the software in the default state with nothing optimized. If they were to spend some time setting up the default install so that it output a reasonable program the first time somebody uses it. People would be much more motivated to give it a second try.
I tried using the FBM on a reasonably complicated part. It was easy and looked great, however, the program was so huge it was unusable. A complete waste of time.
It has very good potential. Right now it feels complicated to set up, but once you have your preferences dialed in, it's pretty good. The main problem is in the defaults. If you just apply the toolpath straight out of the box, the cycle time is too long, that's why people complain about it, however when I tested it on this part, once I setup everything correctly, it did a nice job of programming the part.

Is feature based machining any good? How would you describe the quality of the parts compared to "conventional" mastercam programming.
