  • I don't mean to just further the debate of religion but. I do not belive in God. But thing is, even if he was real (in my eyes) I'm not going to blindly follow a figure I know almost nothing about.

  • All Voldemort had to do was let the muggles go

  • why can't we just stop debating religious views and enjoy lord voldemort's singing

  • What one may call injustice and suffering, is truly the means by which the soul is purified.

  • @The1andOnlyCG: Third, as said earlier, the children, even though murdered are in bliss with their creator. So now, do you somewhat understand the dynamics by which God works.

  • @The1andOnlyCG: The answer to your complaint is this. God tests the hearts and commitment of his slaves in ways as portrayed in the movie. First and foremost, those children were not murdered as you call murder. Those children were taken back by God to heaven. But, the children were a treasure for their parents-the Israelites. Thus, eventhough Pharaoh murdered the children- it only adds to the injustice that he has done. Second, by allowing this to occur, God was testing the hearts of Israel

  • @RegameStarsword the guy who does the voice of Ramses is also Voldemort..

  • This really shows how powerful God is. This proves that you really shouldnt mess with God.

  • @TheTruna it also proves that god is a murderous tyrant who just kills whoever he wants even if they're innocent. did all those innocent civilians deserve to suffer for the crimes of just Pharaoh and his government?

and most of all, did those thousands of firstborn children deserve to be MURDERED?

and you sing praises to this god for being "loving, kind, just and fair" etc.

narrow-minded fools. read your fucking bible, which you so highly acclaim, and see what you really are worshipping.

  • @The1andOnlyCG I'm sorry you feel that way. Take care

  • in the movie, it was Pharaoh who passed the judgement with the first borns, god instructed them how to make death pass over.

  • one thing i find very powerful about this story and many stories from the old testament, is just listen to the line, "and even now, I wish that God had chose another... serving as your foe on his behalf is the last thing that I wanted..." to me it really speaks some truth. People who truly are touched by God aren't the ones who make some gain out of it as many "christians" today do, today God is an excuse for some monitary gain; for Moses, he probably wished God wasn't real and calling upon him

  • @21Rushisaband12 Such a good point. A lot of people nowadays like to make serving God sound a lot more flowery and blissful than it really can be. Yes, doing as God asks can bring happiness and make you feel good about yourself in some situations, but one thing we need to realize is that we are to follow God - period. Even if the world turns against us and we are left with no one and nothing. Many would call that pessimism, but "great is our reward in heaven". God bless.

  • Speaking as someone who thoroughly enjoys his theology classes, these internet-based, religious "debates" consistently give me an ulcer.

How many of you can tell me who Joseph Campbell is, without using Google? How many of you can tell me the basic characteristics of a myth.

When someone doesn't acknowledge the boundaries of his or her expertise, and continues to argue a point without doing some research in relevant fields, he or she becomes an academic clown like Richard Dawkins.

  • Isn't it convenient how none of the Hebrews are effected by the plagues (like surely if the Egyptians crops are ruined, that also means no food for the Hebrews) ...awesome song though

  • @Sabrinajaine God made it so the Egyptians would only be plagued and the Hebrew Farms wouldn't be affected.

  • @Sabrinajaine Did the jews stay? Nope They got out of dodge soon after that. Besides that earlier on the Egyptians learned to keep well stocked in case of famine. Strangely it was from a guy named Joseph.

  • Im not religious at allbut damn, this movie is amazing.. so beautifully done.

  • historians say that egypt did not really use slaves for much.

  • I just wanted to point out to all the people arguing about the whole Christian issue that Jesus' great-great-grandparents hadn't even been born at the time the movie took place. The God referred to in the movie is the "God of the Hebrews." Don't get me wrong, I think that everything that happened was horrible too (if it did in fact happen, the Torah wasn't written until two hundred years after Moses died). I just want to make sure everyone has their facts straight! ^.^

  • love this movie i hav watchedit since i was 3 and im 16 now love it

  • /watch?v=mwZKfZuhLdU&feature=BFa&list=FL4N69lVn6zfeI82L2aaSrTA&lf=BFp

    great adaptation

  • their frightened looks at 0:31 so haunting! just great!

  • Stephen Schwartz. <3

  • @The1andonlyCG

God does not kill because he feels it's purposed. It's all apart of his plan. If he hadn't kill the children then Pharaoh would not hav let them go. When they leave they travel until they find and found Israel(even though Moses dies before its founded).

With out the founding of Israel David wouldn't hav been king. Jesus wouldn't hav been born. Or kill. All things god does are apart of his Plan.

And u address us Christians like u r not one? If ur r atheist or diagnostic look

  • @LittleBearCrafts there are SO MANY other ways god could have solved the problem without slaughtering all those children. his actions were unnecessary, violent, and plain stupid to be honest because he took the most brutal option when he had many other ways of doing things.

    i'm an atheist, ex-christian

  • @The1andOnlyCG tell me, if you had drawn a painting, created a work of art, would it be yours to to with it as you please, destroy it, burn it if you wish?

  • @acc8156 don't you dare use that metaphor.

if i created a "painting" that had a living soul, emotions, and a yearning to live, then it would be totally immoral for me to kill it, especially as it had committed no crime.

  • @The1andOnlyCG My point still stands. God gave them life in the first place, if it is in his plan to take it away, who are we to judge? How can you and me "single threads in the tapestry" see the pattern of his grand design?

  • @acc8156 By grand design you mean cause the suffering of innocents for the sins of just one ? Some loving god you have there

  • @acc8156 we're not "single threads"!!! we are human beings!

we have emotions, we feel pain and suffering, we mourn the loss of our fellow people! according to religion, we even have "souls"! death is a terrible thing for us!

if god is killing children, it is MURDER, just like if anyone else killed children.

  • @The1andOnlyCG of course we are. everything you said about humans is God given. He even gave us the ultimate gift of free choice. The death of those children was a consequence of that gift, Ramses was the one who wouldn't give in, if he had just listened to God and let the Hebrews go, none of that would have happened. and in the end God gave them their lives and souls and emotions. it was His right to take it away.

  • @acc8156

GOD MADE THE CHOICE TO KILL THOSE CHILDREN! he could have solved the problem a million other ways without murdering innocents! he made the choice to commit an act of brutal, unjustified murder!

was it the CHILDREN who were enslaving the israelites? NO. it was Pharaoh and his government, army etc.

there is no way past that fact. stop trying to blame other people for the unecessary and tyrannical actions of your so-called "loving god".

he's a murderer. plain and simple.

  • @The1andOnlyCG God didn't kill the children just for the fun of it. I believe he didn't want to either. But because Pharoh refused to let the slaves go, He had to punish Pharoh the worst way he could, because every other way Pharoh wouldn't budge. And when you think about it, God let the same thing be done to his son, Jesus Christ, over 2000 yrs later on the cross

  • @JesusFreak1701 how about he just killed PHARAOH?!?!?!?! instead of all those innocent children!

or he could have just teleported the israelites over to the promised land! he's god, he is capable of that sort of stuff. no one had to suffer at all - god could have prevented the israelites from being enslaved in the first place!

  • @The1andOnlyCG We believe that God punished the Israelites by letting them be enslaved. They were punished for lack of faith.

  • @RegameStarsword You don't punish an entire ethnic group!

The israelites were enslaved for a long time, yeah? several generations? well that alone is a MASSIVE injustice: why should children have to be punished for the sins of their fathers?

anyway if god WANTED to free the israelites, as he told moses he did, he could easily do it by magic. he could just pick them up and put them at the shore of the Red Sea if he wanted.

instead he decided to kill thousands of innocent children. WTF!?!!?!?

  • @The1andOnlyCG I could have stretched forth My hand and stricken you [Pharaoh] and your people with pestilence, and you would have been effaced from the earth. Nevertheless I have spared you for this purpose: in order to show you My power and in order that My fame may resound throughout the world. ”

    — Exodus 9:15-16 (JPS)

  • @MrHRHG so god slaughtered infants to prove a point?

  • @The1andOnlyCG And in addition, at one point in the song, Pharoh says, "And never mind how high the cost may grow," implying that he didn't care how much his people suffered, he wasn't going to let the slaves go. So if God really is a "tyrannical murderer," as you say, then Pharoh wasn't that much better.

  • @JesusFreak1701 i'm not saying Pharoah was not a bad guy! he was in charge of the enslavement of an entire race!

Pharaoh deserved punishment, as did his government etc. So why didn't god just kill/imprison them? Why punish all the innocent people when he could have only punished the guilty ones??

  • @The1andOnlyCG One more thing: God isn't a murderer. think of him as a police officer putting someone to death because of their crimes. He doesn't want to do it, but he has to. Just keep this in mind. You accuse God of being a murderer, and he still loves you more than you can comprehend.

  • @JesusFreak1701 Personalized punishment is a very different thing from killing many innocents. The murder of the pharaoh's people had no real effect on the pharaoh himself. So why not simply turn everything the pharaoh ate or drank to ash? Would that, or something similar, have not solved the problem in a far less genocidal way? The pharaoh was obviously a fool, but did his people truly deserve to suffer for his pride?

  • @JesusFreak1701 "a police officer putting someone to death because of their crimes"

    THE CHILDREN COMMITTED NO CRIMES.

and on that note, i don't recall god EVER holding a fair trial before he killed someone.

  • Why did they not just play soem card games

  • fucking awsome movie

  • And then Ramses got reincarnated as that guy from Germany.

  • This atheist raped the replay button. ;P

  • @FirstRival24 haha ^^

  • @FirstRival24 Shows you don't need to be anything but human to enjoy great art and literature.

  • @LeKhoaHuy Lt. Commander Data would say that one need only be sentient to enjoy great art and literature. ;) The question then would be whether or not the experience would be emotionally affective.

  • Such an amazing movie! This song scares the shirt out of me,am I the only one?. My sister put this on her iPod and we listened to it in the pitch black. Scariest.Experience.Ever

  • @TwinGleeks101

Someone has never played Amnesia: The Dark Desent at 03:00.

  • its a good movie

but i don't like how christians ignore this aspect of their god... that instead of punishing the guy responsible, he instead killed all the firstborn children, who were innocent in the entire matter.

i don't see the justice there. did they go to heaven or hell? they played not part in it but they were murdered by god

  • Comment removed

  • @The1andOnlyCG The passages were written in a time of eye-for-an-eye ideology so it kind of makes sense.

  • @willstob it would make sense if the children had murdered people

anyway i thought god was meant to be the ultimate being of justice and fairness. why would he stoop down to human twisted morals if he knew what was right?

  • @The1andOnlyCG Oh brother, look, back then certain things were more acceptable then they are now! Back then people would wipe each other out and not care, so God could probably be a bit more brutal cos people just didn't care as much as they do now, times and methods change don't you think?

  • @EvilBakaCat yeah but god is supposed to be the epitome of justice, morality, kindness, forgiveness etc, you christians always praise him for that.

just because humans had a casual attitude towards killing, why should god have been that way? he was supposedly the wise and mature one, he should have known what was right and wrong. anyway i thought he loved all people.

and even by their standards, slaughter of all the firstborn CHILDREN would have been abominable.

  • @The1andOnlyCG no no no, he seemed to be into the kindness thing in the new testament only, the god of the old testament is about justice but a VERY harsh type of justice, it was the acceptable thing to go an eye for an eye, we see God as merciful now because Jesus changed the old ways into being more forgiving.

  • @EvilBakaCat "very harsh justice" is not justice. its brutal, cruel overkill.

those children DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE. they had done nothing wrong. it was pharaoh's fault, not theirs.

god could have just used his divine power to magically teleport the hebrews to safety; god is able to ignore the laws of physics.

he could have given the hebrews the means to rebel against the egyptians (weapons etc).

he could have just killed pharaoh.

but no, he decided to slaughter thousands of children????????

  • @The1andOnlyCG Maby we could look at it this way, they did not die painfully, they simply died, and to god's point of veiw he just removed them from earth and now their up in heaven or somthing like that, i mean for us that's terrible but in the grand scheme of things the kids didn't suffer, and btw I do not worship the God of the old testament, he is a lawful evil aligned monster, the total opposite of the new testament

  • I have to keep in mind... It's Voldemort singing as Rameses... lol

  • Love the chanting in the background; a musical masterpiece. Hooray for the 90's, am I right?

  • This is my favorite story of all time because, true or not, it tells of two brothers, one obeying the greater good, the other influenced by his father. During the course of the plagues Moses is horribly sad for the suffering, but also angry at Ramses for calling them down, angry with God for sending them, and angry with himself for being the middleman and enabling all this. Ramses all the while refuses to give because of his Father's wishes for him to become a great Pharaoh, and does not want t

  • 1:40 GROOOUUUNNND!!!

  • @kirby28645 hahaha i just got that! XD

  • there was no lice in the ten plagues

    Dennan

  • @Hungergames981 Actually yes, Lice was indeed one of the ten Plagues, if your curious refer to Exodus chapter 8 verse 16.

  • @Hungergames981

    Sorry, incorrect

  • every song in this movie is so incredibly powerful which makes this movie just THAT much better!

  • Funny to think Ramses is Voldemort :)

  • @PKSAgrl621 Wait what?!

  • @radioranger1

    Voldemort?

  • voldemort is a good singer

  • @ChickencurryMuffin

He was proving a point to the world, and not just 1 man

  • @youngchindianwarrior

There is evidence in the "Reed Sea" (I can't remember the real name). And there wasn't a "Slave Revolt", they had permission to leave. Then, don't forget to add artistic license.

  • @eugenideddis Can't even remember the facts right and teaching history. Now that's funny

  • Why the fuck can't I stop watching this?!

  • I dont know how they could do it but this needs to be a stage play

  • Scariest movie of my childhood.

  • Damnit Ramses. Just let his people go already.

  • I send a pestilence and plague

Into your house, into your bed

Into your streams, into your streets

Into your drink, into your bread

Upon your cattle, on your sheep

Upon your oxen in your field

Into your dreams, into your sleep

Until you break, until you yield

I send the swarm, I send the horde

Thus saith the Lord XD that is so fucken catchy

  • would have been great as a disney movie

  • couldn't god just zap rameses and prevent all the innocent from suffering? yes, but he wants a show.

  • @kettturton

more a matter of free will, but the plagues directly contradict the whole "choose for yourself" unless God in this was wanting to force a choice, Im a christian and I find it arguable if the plagues actually happened or not. Still a good movie.

  • that was epic bro

  • In American Sign Language 1, I have chosen this song to sign, knowing very little ASL. I AM SO EXCITED! I'm gonna, God-willing, grow my beard for the epicness!

"Then let my heart be hardened, and never mind how high the cost may grow! This will still be so!: I will never let... you... peo..ple... GO!"

    Jesus akbar!

  • 1:38 = (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • For everyone who bitches at this film because they are not christian consider for a moment that when you watch ANY filmy ou have to suspend your disbelief and buy into the ideology of the film.

You can’t sit and watch ‘bladerunner’ and bitch that its stupid because you don’t believe in robot replicants!! Why should this film be any different?

The Prince of Egypt is an absolutely first class film, even to someone like myself who could certainly not be called ANY kind of religious.

  • @SamuraLungChu i wish everyone had your attitude towards movies and books.

  • @SamuraLungChu You are absolutely right.

  • @SamuraLungChu As much as I agree with you, no one is really gonna listen. For almost every song from this movie, there are discussions of SOMETHING religious, atheists, christians, whatever. Everyone is going to argue about it. But I do agree, they just need to shut up and enjoy the music.

  • @SamuraLungChu That IS all well and good, but you don't have people going around in every day life saying that you're a replicant and that you need to be put down. Luckily, I've yet to be called a replicant and have people shoot at me. Bible thumpers on the other hand are a very real and annoying occurrence. At least most of them don't try to shoot you. :)

  • I am the greatest animated movie ever made and I find this atheist.

  • Wow, the guy who played Voldemort can sing!

  • this is sooo powerful. i love this movie so much. not even religious, its just wonderful

  • Let is be known... if it comes down to strength... or force... the lord WILL prevail... just like when it comes down to anything a man takes pride in... such as wisdom, numbers or anything that could make a man ignorant..

  • It's fun watching Prince of Egypt again after watching 9 seasons of Stargate SG-1.

  • @AlienBoggle

knowing stargate is made by masons... your comment.. shows how very little you actually figured out of our world...

  • @vegeta2030

Haha mate it's just for fun. It's amusing watching this movie and thinking of Ramses as a Goa'uld. Moses would almost definitely be a Tok'ra.

I think you might need to get your nose outta that bible and smell the roses once in a while.

  • @AlienBoggle

First of all.. reading the bible and roses don't have anything related.

Also... you should think of what to say before you do it...

  • @vegeta2030

"Smell the roses" is a figure of speech.

    It means relax.

    So, relax.

And I DID say it's just for fun. I say again, relax. I'm not burning anyone's flag here.

  • @vegeta2030 masons and stargate?conspiracy theory much?Its just a show for fun

  • @AlienBoggle exactly

  • forgive my blasphemy, but when i was a kid and i saw this part, i figured that God had a massive inferiority complex....

  • @Morgoth290

    Reflects what's inside you... hahaha

  • by far one of the greatest movies ever made. :)

  • I love how Moses is there every single time a plague happens, just staring at Pharoh.

Pharoh: >:( Another plague; god damn it!

    Moses: o _ o

    Pharoh: (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ MOOOOSEEEES!

  • @TheBeastBandit and moses is all like "Y U NO LET MY PEOPLE GO?! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ"

  • @DeMishMIsh cool bird

  • @TheBeastBandit Your comment is gold.

  • honestly this is the most powerful son in the movie its shows God's wrath and the conflict between brothers who still love each other. Only one has the pride of a king which all kings should have

  • This is easily my favorite part of the movie.

  • hehe voldemort singing...

  • YHWH was the real villain. Any entity that would do this deserves nothing but loathing. I'd say history is written by the victors, but it never really happened. Archaeological evidence proves the Hebrews as we know them were never in Egypt. To me, that makes it even worse.

  • @Dracorex13 If there's archeological evidence that the Hebrews weren't in Egypt (Which, by the way, there's plenty of evidence to support their presence- particularly Egyptians citing the story of a slave revolt led by Moses- who is addressed by name) then why would you assume God did this to Egypt? So, enslaving an entire race is fine in comparison? At any time, Pharaoh could let the Hebrews go, and God would end the plagues. It is Pharaoh's pride that killed his people, not God.

  • Comment removed

  • @ChickencurryMuffin Then i guess i am vile. and besides even though the body dies the soul lives on, so God has the first born souls. Just like God can gives life He can take it away.

  • @ChickencurryMuffin You don't seem open-minded, but I proved the supernatural: /watch?v=aGYSPlfy_7E

  • @ludicrus32 Who went and killed all the firstborn children? It certainly wasn't Rameses.

  • @ludicrus32 Don't worry about people saying that God is a sociopath for killing the first born. People do not relize our body is just a shell, even if the body dies the soul lives on and guess where the souls of the first born are thier with God

  • @12lovegod So now you're a Hindu or Buddhist? You seem to be the sociopath here.

  • @ludicrus32

I'm doing an undergrad degree on Archaeology at Cambridge at the moment, and I'm calling your bluff. There is absolutely no evidence of a 'slave revolt' led by 'Moses' in Egypt, at any time. There is no evidence of a Pharoah perishing or his army being destroyed at the Red Sea (despite much other evidence of military defeats). All the evidence points to the Israelites being an ethnic group arising from the Canaanites, who retrospectively rewrote their origin history.

  • @HentaiGuy42 dude, he's complementig the film. don't ruin it by listing other movies.

  • @Xeimora418

I love the movie because its about ancient egyptians and I myself am an egyptian lol,I also love how it shows hebrews as I love jews tbh and I love their culture.

  • Ramses' voice is so fucking amazing..

  • What's happening to the guy in bed and the women? Leeches?

  • @pouncivalfan1321 i think its grasshoppers in the bed

  • @Dennan I think Gadflies

  • @Dennan

    I though they were scorpions.

  • @Rudolfusftw aha

  • @Dennan actually from the 10 plauges, it would be most likely lice

  • @Dennan actually if we're guessing with the fact it is one of the 10 plauges, it would be most likely lice in the bed

  • @Dennan wouldnt it be bed bugs thatd make a lot more sense

  • @pouncivalfan1321 the man is the plauge of insects and the women is the plauge of boils

  • @pouncivalfan1321 The women got "boil" which was a skin disease .

  • @pouncivalfan1321 My guess would be lice/gnats

  • @pouncivalfan1321 , apparently they're supposed to be lice or gnats in the bible. Though, it doesn't look like it was intended to be lice in the movie.

  • Rameses: "I bet the Jews did this."

  • I am an atheist and I think The Prince Of Egypt is the greatest animated movie ever made

  • @AMxPunk It is quite good. The relationship between Moses and Ramses is compelling (as are all of the characters, actually), and the music absolutely top-notch. Not to mention the absolutely stellar animation.

  • @AMxPunk > Then you obviously haven't seen Hunchback of Notre Dame...or Toy Story 3...or Wall-E...or Metropolis...or Race For Your Life Charlie Brown...or Unico and the Isle of Magic...or the Last Unicorn...or Mononoke Hime...or Animal Farm...or Watership Down...or the Iron Giant...or Totoro...or etc. etc.

  • @AMxPunk I'm an atheist too but goddamn I agree that this is a hell of a movie.

  • @AMxPunk hahaha me toooo

  • I'm kinda shaking like a leaf right now :S

  • This video reminds me that I had a kickass childhood. I had all the amazing Dreamworks and Disney movies to grow up with. Kids these days grow up with the faces of Disney, like Hannah.

  • @spiroskout wow thank you- I have so much respect for you. And the reason why pharaoh didn't let the Hebrew people go is because God had hardened his heart.

  • The goosebumps hurt their so powerfull

    Awesome music

  • I'm sorry, if fire started coming down from the sky, if I was Ramses I would be like "fuck it, Hebrews, get the hell out of here."

  • @Linkforlife199 lmao ur priceless!!!!

  • @Linkforlife199 > If you go by the Bible (and, really, that's the only way to go by the story) the reason Pharaoh didn't let the Jews go was that God had hardened his heart...which seems like kind of a bullshit thing to do.

  • @HentaiGuy42 I know, right?

  • This song is always awesome

  • in the words of Brian from Family Guy:

"You want an explanation? GOD. IS. PISSED!!!"

  • Loving it

  • Stop mentioning Voldemort....you guys must be like, 13.

  • @GagaIsAMonster Fine then. How about I mention that he also played Amon Goeth, a Nazi who was oppressing and killing Jews as well. Irony. Yet, in real life, Ralph is a really nice guy. The ability to play both villain and hero makes him an excellent actor, and one of my favorites.

  • @adrianloveslucius Yes, that's fine.

  • This isn't the right key but its still good! I love Hans Zimmer's work!!

  • I wonder what the average Egyptian who didn't really follow politics was thinking at this point. "What the f*** is going on!!!" <Ed Helms voice.

  • "You who I call Potter-..."

  • @ArcaneBunny LOL

  • goosebumbs

  • @TwilightFanSarah91 hehe yea

  • Don't laugh at that, Egyptians, regardless of their sins, suffered for their king's stubbornness, how is that funny?

  • Yay for singing Voldemort <3
