@Thokko No- I just threw the line in and it hooked itself and threw itself on the bank. Despite having to travel 18,000 miles round trip to catch it and a cost of $10,000...30 years of fishing experience. And its a fish that hasn't been out again in 2 years. Easy really. @Adejager1972 - hi...I didnt get through to the big girls this trip. I did OK with the redtails tho- up to 80lb's. The reciepe we talked about was Trigga, Pineapple, N-Buric and GLM. The lads at rollin baits put some hardner in aswell to combat the shrimps.

@elmundo88 Do alot down in essex,from river, to pit, to resivours (can't spell) I hold my hands up mate, I can't fish river's! Just catch anythin! I river fished in milton keynes, caught a crayfish! I Can't fish River!! I fished in wolverton in a bit, caught nothing, later spoke to a few lads up in a fishing shop nearby and most of them agreed with me, just no longer any good to fish! I saw on the door though a few places, I Can't fit any more in this box, will message you a few more details!

@FirschHirsch . Trust me... it was way over a ton. I had a weighed 'known fish' of 85lb last time I was there ...and this one was a differenent animal all together. The lake is snag free... but there are some big humps in the lake bed. Some of the fish run hard and low over them sometimes and it can cut into the lake bed - which can cause some issues with the big fish. I've never seen a fish lost through this though. Its certainly not like bung sam ran (in any way !!!)

I only brought this up cos i caught 2 big Carp @ bung sam lan last years with the bigger one beeing 110lbs (vid on my channel)... In comparison mine appealed as big, maybe a little bigger to me than this one... As i said before it doesent really matter, anyways a great fish, maybe my favourit species!!!

This is a baby compared to some out there. They have been reported to 600lbs, but reports are sketchy with no evidence to back it up. The biggest photo I have seen is the 230lb'er that Kik caught in 2007 but he couldn't claim it because other people helped in the landing process. I think the IGFA record is around 55KG- which again is small in comparison to the record- I think Stuart's place will do the world record this year.

Try the basics - maize or pepperami will work. If you want to go more high tech- anything by nutrabaits is pretty good.

Mate thats an awesome fish, we had a day trip there last October and had a blast, caught several carp to 30lbs and lost a nice arapaima. Im hoping for an extended stay this year.

I don't really know whether it is true but a couple of my experienced fishermen in my family say that to catch all those big Fresh water fish such as the carp that I should put corn on the hook and another one said peanutbuter and bologna, what the hell, can you confirm that, sounds kinda weird?

Corn definately works- Meat (luncheon meat, canned ham etc) will definately work. Peanut butter, erm maybe- dont know how you'd get it on the hook. Maybe mash it with some bread into a paste and mould it on?
