@svtkilr Search PyroUniverse for endless discussions on the best canister shells. Years/effects/brands/symmetry etc. From what I know is that Smokenmirrors (silver salute by phantom) has some more colorful effects. It's usually a matter of preference but 2007 excals are missed.Give your reasons and all will appreciate your opinion. Most people have pros and cons about each brand and usually agree that there is not ONE superior product overall. Especially from year to year.
Excalibur is EXCLUSIVELY producing Pro Shells and Exterminator for BigFireworks and run around 100.00 a case.4 boxes of 24 shells. So 96 shells for 100.00.Not bad at 1.00 a shell
i tihnk it woulda've been better if you cut it in hald and d mixed in a couepl other kits. along with a few really big heavy salutes, and some 2-3 inch mortars. that woulda really bumped this up a notch
Can shells by nature are not all that symmetrical....just how it's all packed in a cylinder instead of a ball...
roxanastud21...it really depends on what part of the country you're in...as to which shells are avail. to you. KoDs are nice..Excals, Hard-n-Heavies and Super Mags....again..depends on where u are in the country
this year im buying a shit load of artillery shells and doing my own show and last year i found out about a shell call "kiss of death" there truely amazing and people sent me some messages about what kind i should get.
for a finale it's great to mix cylinder shells with some ball shells with tails, having tails in a finale really makes it cover the whole sky, and you will get some really symmetrical bursts a little lower and in front of the massive can shell bursts.
@llamamodel Thank You! I agree with you. But these days people say thers is the best (just because that is what they sell) cant blame them to much, the setores that sell black momba shells are normally owned by winco. And you cant cut down your own brand.
Victory Fireworks sells them for $220 a case and they dont have a minimum purchase but if you dont live in WI then you have to pay to have them shipped. If you spend over $800 then the price drops to $160 a case.
There are wholesalers listed all over the internet. The more you spend.. the less you pay. I spend around $1200 a year and when you spend that much 500g cakes are only $10-$15 apiece.
Just do an internet search for "fireworks wholesaler". If you live in a state that allows year round sales of fireworks then there should be one near you.
heres a secret. I live in nevada & they cost 170 for 2 boxes. but during the 4th of july in a small town of Gallup new mexico..the exacaliber cost 37.00 for 24 shot. I get them there every year..last year they were 34.99. next year i plan to buy 10
Man, that just starts to get boring after a while. Same shells one after another, like a video loop. Filling the sky with the same thing for 3 minutes is a waste of money.
True. Some people like watching the same exact thing for 3 minutes straight. Even in person it would get boring. You gotta mix it up some how. That's the difference between pure sky puke and a great show. It's also much easier to just fuse a bunch of one thing. But, you're right, to each their own.
@CrazyDood69 I bet if you were at this shoot, you would think different.!! It is just a time to do something NO one else has EVER DONE. This was fun. To do this, we had about 15 people work all day.. We were not trying to do the best show of the year, Just the most ex calls at once
No one else has ever done? I used 864 excals at my show last year lol But they where mixed with iron revengers just to add in some tails. But I have to admit.. seeing this very video was my inspiration ; )
Going to video my show this year and post it on the tube. Not going with as many excals this time.. just two cases. Should be a nice mix with cobra shells, shotgun shells, revengers and hammer shells.
Quick question.. do you know the failure rate? Out of all my excals only two failed to fire and came back down in one piece. Interesting to see that they have two time fuses side by side.. must be the reason for the low failure rate.
@pyroprofession I was at a shoot this year where we put up 3,000 shells. We had 50 people working 3 days on it. It's awesome in person, boring on video, that's all I meant.
@cactuschris2002 Actually, when you've seen it in person, it's kinda boring on video, that's what I meant I guess. If you think it rocks on video, go see one in person and you'll poop ur pants!
Yeah same here, we did divide them up, but the whole thing was set up in a few hours. We did another shoot with 883? shells, excalls, we didnt mix the FOA dhells into it. The FOA shells have a longer fuse timing so it is hard to mix them. i also have the (all of them) FOA versions, but they may be better without the crackle stuff.
They are considered by some to be the best consumer shells. I prefer the newly relseased big bad bangers.. but blowing up tons of them would get boring.
Got to mix up the racks or you see the same thing too many times. Crackle does have its place.. but I HATE cakes that end with crackle.
You have no idea dude,I sell thousands of the things, and try them out. EC and sweet 16, BBB, and all. All foa products are slower in fuse time then WC. Its a matter of if you like slow fuse or slight faster fuse
sweet 16 is a foa shell equal to excalls. Just depends what type of effect is compared to ? whatever excall shell. Believe me, I have lit thousands of each. The big difference is the fuse, excalls are faster then s16, s16 is also same as lock n load, and big bad banger. Just different effects/ different count# of shells.
Yeah im about to do the fireworks at Stardust drive inn in tennessee. Looks like this is the best bang for my buck with a few 12 shots added in with my finale
wow that's nuts.. i picked up a boxes of these on the 4th. 40 bucks at the indian reservation in Seattle. But this was when the stands were closing so they were getting rid of their stock.

@theDARKSTEP Yeah that's what I pay for them in Texas at the retail stores. I just got 48 and a zillion other things for my little show last year. :D A dozen high school and college students kept things alive without fancy synchronization. How do you time so many excalibur shells?

I love excalibur shells and Phoenix shells are probably my second favorite. What's bigger? i hear black mambas are good but never seen one.

Black Mambas are close to Excals, but Excals definitely take the cake. Excals have larger breaks and more variety in color and effects.
