OMFG!!! I was at this show! Front row, leaning between Criss' and Zack's monitors! Whoever taped and posted this FUCKING THANK YOU!!! R.I.P. Criss, you are missed. Also to Dallas City Limits...used to be the best club in Dallas, now a latino dance club. A lot of truly great shows happened there, including KISS, Cinderella, Dokken, etc. I saw Savatage there 4 tours in a row (the band had court appearances for some trouble at another club after show jam and always booked DCL when they came down).
Lucky bastards watching the show. I couldn't guess how would it feel to see Criss live. I found myself in tears when I saw John with JOP. They played Hounds here in Turkey and dedicated it to Criss. It was a historical moment for me.
Don't you see the guy on the right? Haven't you seen Criss Oliva on videos before? He's fucking there, playing the solo perfectly at such a high tempo. Criss Oliva is FUCKING AMAZING. He has such a distinctive style.
@panais1993 Dude, as has been pointed out, that is Criss Oliva playing both solos, standing on the right side of the stage. This concert was in Dallas, August of 1993. He was killed by a drunk driver in October of 1993. That's Criss. NOBODY else could play those solos. Nobody. Criss is the most God damned underrated rock guitarist to ever walk the earth. He's technically just brilliant.
What a gift these videos are. RIP Criss, you will NEVER be forgotten. Still the orchestra plays...
dave mustaine asked kerry king to join megadeth and he rejected him a couple years later kerry got shot at a pantera concert. then he asked chris, chris also wanted to stay with his brother so he said no a few years later he died coming home from a concert kinda fishy lol jk but its true
Definetely top 5 Sava songs this one. Damn, Criss was simply perfect live, astounding guitar playing a true GOD. So sad his life was cut so short.
This performance is amazing. Zak sounds so raw, even the cracks in his voice in the chorus sound pretty cool, lol. But the end, he just freakin' nailed, very impressive. What a fire this lineup had, I'm sure Jon was watching very proud. But Oliva's guitar shredding, damn!!!
Wow!! That '93 Savatage line-up was so tight and so heavy!! \m/ I'd love it if video of this entire gig ends up here TemptationRevelation. Thanks for sharing!
He played Charvel and I think Marshall amps not sure but genius anyways

Perfect. Saw them in Tampa where it was totally wild on that tour.

Does anyone know what kind of amps and guitars Criss used? In this one looks like a Jackson guitar but can't tell what kinda amps.

Damn, it's such a pity Criss Oliva died, this band could have done some amazing things if they continued the style of Edge of Thorns.

This is my favorite Savatage song of them all. His solos are mind blowing on this song. (Well, ditto to every song).

Also, Wacholz left the band after Criss Oliva passed away. So you will not see Wacholz in a video without Criss.
The solo in this song is killing meeeee!!!!
