it's a little soft. Nice for a chillout type. Keeps making me think of floating islands and far off space. smooth and crisp. The vocals are the main component of this song which covers some of the repetitiveness in the song. I like it.

@sthteve Oh no, it's not the fact that people disliked it. I write music that's pretty different from others of my particular breed, I definitely EXPECT people, quite a lot of people, to dislike it. It's the attitude of some of the competitors and their fans that dissuade me from doing so again, at least in a competition ran by a dance artist. I didn't like the spirit of music being totally ruined like that, it broke my heart a little, really.

@DonkJunkie2008 I don't intend on competing again, honestly. It breeds an odd air of slight dismay between musicians and fans. Music is about love, art, and expression. I took a leap of faith competing, and got some fans from it, which I'm /very/ grateful for. But it brought on a lot of hate, and showed a lot of people's dark sides. Not something I'm fond of seeing, especially as a cynic. This one was fun, but I don't think I'd do it again XD Back to making music, without the competition.

I think people are viewing this track with a list of criteria that just didn't plain exist while I was composing and producing it. People think "The Hunt For Bass" meant they were hunting for bass, when in reality, the contest is just a play on Basshunter's name. All genres were allowed to enter. This song has plenty of bass, exactly how much it's supposed to have. I don't primarily produce electro/Hard DNB, nor was i trying to here. :P
You know this is song#1 of the contest its like the opener of the contest and its normal that expectations are kind of high because people dont really have something to compare it with. IMO in general the first song of a contest sets the bar for the entire competition and IMO this song has set it quite High.

@mrcdplay It's EDM by definition. It's atmospheric drum'n'bass. The contest is open for any genre, also, regardless if it was dance music or not. And so far, not a whole lot of people like it XD But that's because of the audience.
@mrcdplay Well aware. I've been producing for 6 years, you don't have to tell me twice. But Drum'n'Bass also falls under EDM, whether or not its "dance music" or not. Names are often misleading. I wouldn't consider DNB dancable either, but it also falls under EDM. Hell, I wouldn't call a lot of trance dancable either, but there's clubs for it. Regardless, it's all just semantics, and the contest states that any genre is acceptable. So the original point is moot.

The ads were finally removed, though I'm fairly sure it's only because the people running this comp are a bunch of pussies and can't take ownership for anything.
Over 20 different people commented on their channel, telling those assholes that what they did was wrong. But now those 20 or so comments are gone because basshunter is just covering his ass and is a coward. They deleted as much proof as they could. but no worries, I have it all on my channel and they won't be able to delete that.

Hey guys just thought I'd let you all know that the people running the basshunter competition have been infringing on everyone's rights by putting ads on all the videos. They are making MONEY from YOUR songs.
In the Basshunter Contest TOS they said that we were consenting to let them post the songs on youtube. That is completely fine. BUT they now have advertisements both IN the videos and NEXT to the videos and this is illegal because they do not own exclusive rights over the content.
@SHM3K3R even if that was the case, that money does not belong to them. what they are doing is wrong. those advertisements should not be up in the first place.
for example, I earned over $230 from google by placing ads on FIVE of my own videos.
The basshunter people are earning that money with FOUR HUNDRED AND TEN videos. Seriously, what they are doing should be considered stealing, because they are earning that money from other's intellectual property. Someone could sue them for this.

Yes, its hosted by Basshunter, but its judged by a panel of talented producers from Extensive Recordings Sweden. Will a dance entry likely win because of its likeness to the label and Basshunter himself? Probably. Very least, I've gotten my name out there. Talent comes in many forms.

You know this is song#1 of the contest its like the opener of the contest and its normal that expectations are kind of high because people dont really have something to compare it with. IMO in general the first song of a contest sets the bar for the entire competition and IMO this song has set it quite High.

@mrcdplay Well aware. I've been producing for 6 years, you don't have to tell me twice. But Drum'n'Bass also falls under EDM, whether or not its "dance music" or not. Names are often misleading. I wouldn't consider DNB dancable either, but it also falls under EDM. Hell, I wouldn't call a lot of trance dancable either, but there's clubs for it. Regardless, it's all just semantics, and the contest states that any genre is acceptable. So the original point is moot.

The ads were finally removed, though I'm fairly sure it's only because the people running this comp are a bunch of pussies and can't take ownership for anything.
Over 20 different people commented on their channel, telling those assholes that what they did was wrong. But now those 20 or so comments are gone because basshunter is just covering his ass and is a coward. They deleted as much proof as they could. but no worries, I have it all on my channel and they won't be able to delete that.

Hey guys just thought I'd let you all know that the people running the basshunter competition have been infringing on everyone's rights by putting ads on all the videos. They are making MONEY from YOUR songs.
In the Basshunter Contest TOS they said that we were consenting to let them post the songs on youtube. That is completely fine. BUT they now have advertisements both IN the videos and NEXT to the videos and this is illegal because they do not own exclusive rights over the content.

for example, I earned over $230 from google by placing ads on FIVE of my own videos.
The basshunter people are earning that money with FOUR HUNDRED AND TEN videos. Seriously, what they are doing should be considered stealing, because they are earning that money from other's intellectual property. Someone could sue them for this.

Yes, its hosted by Basshunter, but its judged by a panel of talented producers from Extensive Recordings Sweden. Will a dance entry likely win because of its likeness to the label and Basshunter himself? Probably. Very least, I've gotten my name out there. Talent comes in many forms.

Unfortunately, in the industry, that never does very well, unless the form of expression is widely accepted by the mainstream. In this contest, I doubt emotion will mean much at all in the end. @TheLASTWARLORD lol We live in a world where the bass strength is more important than composition. So 3 notes in a song, and a hollow loud bass synth mixed with a lot of effects will top the charts more than something that has emotional integrity. Oh how this world has fallen.
As far as production quality goes though, Ali's pretty frickin' good. He just has a REALLY REALLY terrible fan base that lack all common courtesy. I feel bad for him. No one deserves fans like that.

@lovetilatequila4life Uh...Xayro's friends with someone who is friends with Ali...why are all of his fans being douchetards? Offer some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or don't bother commenting. You're making the artist you support look bad, and Ali's actually pretty good. Think before you comment, because someone reading this would think "oh man this guy's fans are jerks, don't listen to him". Supporting another artist is fine, but ruining his rep with your rudeness isn't fair to him. Just sayin'.
