As ground-breaking as the Runaways were, Currie's rants about everything are just too much. How many opening acts were badly treated by the headliner? Almost all of them. And there was the incident where, supposedly, Joan Jett pee'd on Lifeson's guitars, which Jett denies. Hey, Rush were in their mid-20s: play with boys, get hurt by boys. That's the fun of being in a band.

Every interview with Rush I've ever seen they are extremely friendly and answer questions in great detail. I've never even heard of this woman, she is probably just jealous of Rush's success and is trying to start some invented controversy.
Hmm, this is such a petty display. It was very routine in the 70's (and in any period) for opening acts (especially young ones) to be hassled. It's like being a rookie in any professional sport. I've read stories of how poorly Rush was treated by bands such as Aerosmith and ZZ Top - yet no members of Rush bash those bands some 30 years after the point. It seems as though a lack of recent fame or success has led Cherie to use trashtalk as her only means of staying in the public eye. Ridiculous.
I heard Joan say on the commentary track for The Runaways movie that while she remember some of this incident, she though it was mostly Rush's crew not the actually band. Frankly, I didn't sense any real bad blood and think this story should really be laughed off as just one of many bizzare conflicts that briefly erupted in the whole history of rock and roll.

As ground-breaking as the Runaways were, Currie's rants about everything are just too much. How many opening acts were badly treated by the headliner? Almost all of them. And there was the incident where, supposedly, Joan Jett pee'd on Lifeson's guitars, which Jett denies. Hey, Rush were in their mid-20s: play with boys, get hurt by boys. That's the fun of being in a band.

anyway I just wanna add that the runaways might not have any stars on the Hollywood walk of fame or any platinum, but they were together only for 4 years.They could've been much much much more if they could've managed to stay together. they were just awesome (in 76-77), talented musician, but only 16 yr old and abused, and so on. i'm not gonna tell the story but those of you who doesn't know them you should. and Cherie's NOT jealous, she's cooler than that :)

Hmm, this is such a petty display. It was very routine in the 70's (and in any period) for opening acts (especially young ones) to be hassled. It's like being a rookie in any professional sport. I've read stories of how poorly Rush was treated by bands such as Aerosmith and ZZ Top - yet no members of Rush bash those bands some 30 years after the point. It seems as though a lack of recent fame or success has led Cherie to use trashtalk as her only means of staying in the public eye. Ridiculous.

I heard Joan say on the commentary track for The Runaways movie that while she remember some of this incident, she though it was mostly Rush's crew not the actually band. Frankly, I didn't sense any real bad blood and think this story should really be laughed off as just one of many bizzare conflicts that briefly erupted in the whole history of rock and roll.
BTW, at the risk of being too obvious, this "my band is better that your band" crap is positivly infintile no matter your musical tastes!

i almost blame the runaways (and/or their management) for getting into that kind of situation. rush and the runaways? definitely not a good combination. rush's audience wasn't the runaways' audience and vice versa. kim fowley and the runaways should have stayed away as far as possible from rush. @SuperMrMalibog yeah. that was the problem. rush don't mess around with bad performances. but with the runaways' kind of glam punk, the concept of "a bad (or inexpert) performance" was to a great extent beside the point. rush and the runaways was a bad matchup. rush and their audience expected technical proficiency. but for runaways' fans, technical proficiency just wasn't all that important (and might have even proved to be a liability).

I guess the members of Rush are not the refined musicians they pretend to be. Maybe this is just typical Canadian male behavior towards women or maybe, as I suspect, they are gay. I always throught they were wanttabe Classical or Jazz musicians but just could not cut it. If you are classically trained - Rush's music is really basic but they have a big head because they can play in other time signatures than 4/4...lol

I am a Rush fan and I saw the Runaways movie.My heart goes out to Currie and Jett if Geddy and Alex were dick heads like they were depicted in the film.You can't really tell it is them until Currie and Jett go into the "Headliners Dressroom" and you see the double neck guitar that Lifeson was using on that tour.
