@XxEchoSniperxX I think not cause he don't have much frames. But I think the focus should be muscle gains. Everything else is separable weak bullshit.
hehe I've been strength training for the last month or so, and I'm able to grab the rim now. I'm 5'6" with somewhere around a 36 vertical. I need to get up to 40 or so Im hoping in a few more months.
Hey, I'm 5'11" and have monkey arms and touch 7'9", so if he's 5'6" he probably touches 7'2". 36" would only get him to 10'2" and that's not enough to dunk.
Nah you don't even have monkey arms man. I'm 5'11 too and my reach is 7'7 so you are maybe a lil above average. A lot of dudes are our height and have reaches of around 8' or so... They are mostly black tho cus black people just have longer arms in general just the way they are built. I need to have about a 36" inch vert or so to dunk I'm 5 inches taller than this dude... so yea for the argument there is no way he can dunk with so called short or average arms.
Some people have different natural abilities and that probably keys into the effectiveness of certain workouts. Apparently jump rope was what you needed.
hell nah that shouldnt be taking a whole year... if you can touch the rim you should be dunking in 3 months... run bleachers at the local high school, and hit the leg press that should be suficiant
So what you're saying is if i can get rim, I should be able to get another 6" in 3 months? I disagree. By that logic, i should get a whole foot in 1 year.
well how is that not logical? and a foot in a year... thats one in a month... if you cant do that with plyometrics and running and jumproping.... thats sad
well.. not necessarily, you see there can be a consistent rate of improvement, but like everything in life, it will have it's limits.
sport is an extremely true example of this.
you can improve in either a short or long amount of time at a consistent rate, but you and your body does have limits that will stop you from gaining a super-human jumping ability.
so.. I have to say what these people are saying is quite right in most cases, you are failing to understand when limits kick in.
Man i really admire your persistence, but i'm a bit disenchanted with Kelly Baggetts Vertical Jump Bible (which i also own) after seeing this. I mean shit, it should NOT take a whole year, and you seem to be doing everything right.
I hear ya. But there's so many different workouts, depending on your strength and body type. Also, I'm not doing ideal workouts for 2 reasons - 1. i'm 20 years older than most, 2. I don't play basketball, so i'm never in great jumping shape
I see what you're saying, but the program is marketed as a standalone system, it doesn't say anywhere in the publication that you must play basketball concurrently (though i agree, it probably would be beneficial). Regardless of hops, do you feel it has improved your overall strength and fitness much?
I hear that, well, I hope you keep with it. If only I was Shawn Kemp.... then i'd be out dunking right now, instead of trawling youtube for scraps of dunkitude.
Keep in mind some people will NEVER dunk regardless of how awesome of a program they are on. Kelly's program will help anyone make improvement, but that doesn't mean everyone will dunk. If he goes from a 25" VJ to a 30" VJ then how can anyone say his program doesn't work?
im 6'7" and its not as easy to dunk as people think. weight comes with height which is harder to get up in the air lol plus i believe taller people to take longer to get used to their height which usually rapidly happens during puberty
thankyou so much for sayin that im 6'5" 230 up and down in weight and it is hard. "man if i was your height" man you 6'5 dunk it should be easy" pbbf ppl need to understand
bro i fell both u im 6'7" ad weigh like 200-210 in the 9th grade and its harder 2 jump hi wen ur tall and wen ur tall u dont even need 2 jump outa the gym but it fuckin helps
actually most of them can you are thinking more along the lines of 42+ years because most of the dunkers in the NBA dunk well past 32 allen iverson can still dunk like crazy he just prefers not to
no...I'm not saying you are wrong but did you read the SI article a few weeks back? It talked about how most players can lose hops/dunking ability near that age.
point well made it does go down but that is because most athletes do not stay in shape or get plagued with injuries and since he can avoid that he should be able to come close.
white guys are genetically jealous of black guys...we jump higher so what you guys got more money and smarter

Where you at? Do you work hard on perfect nutrition regime aka 6 times a week balance feedings? That will do great impact plus creatine

Keep it up man, Kelly's bible's da bomb

If you had a 36 inch vertical, you should be able to dunk easily.
dtothediesel 2 years ago
ahhhh no...
If you were 5'7" ish, with short arms, you'd know that a 36 inch vertical isn't enough
DW5chaosmodeguide 2 years ago
No. I am 5'8-5'9 with short arms and would be able to dunk easily with a 36 inch vert. I can grab rim and I come no where close to 36 inch.

now is that rim you grabbed near the end 10 ft
cause it sure looks like you can dunk by how effortlessly your movements were
ThatsHowIRoll824 3 years ago
YO, why don't you try dunking on shorter nets to get the proper form right. But keep working out as well.
visla84 3 years ago
hmmm, you look slow... sprint and squat.Your squat is weak, 155lbs?? I know you are going fast etc, but thats still weak.
I only squatted and skipped rope and I was able to dunk easily. I was able to dunk in high school though.

Again, one inch a month is 40 inches in 40 months...it doesn't work like that. Regardless, good luck in your own endeavors, don't be a hater.

well, at the end of the day, i'm not dunking, so it's not working. That said, age & lack of intensive exercise aren't helping.

Leave the weights alone!! Do plyometrics and/or Isometrics....it'll get you right in no time.

yea...like when MJ, one of the greatest dunkers of all time, missed a dunk in the 2002(?) All Star Game. I couldnt believe it
bucktoothg 4 years ago
nothing to do with his lack of jump, if you take a closer look he slamed the ball to far, on the base of the rim, he wasn't too short
mouloudo 3 years ago
MJ got heavy though. :p
patrickblah 3 years ago
there vertical decreases yea lyk vince's is but the majority i.e. 90% of them can all still dunk u hardly have to jump at 6'6'' etc. to dunk
truflight23 4 years ago
I'm 6'6 and I have to jump about 2 feet to dunk but it doesn't look very good unless I jump like 30 inches or more.
