  • Wow, classic!!

  • Marvin, Teddy, Barry, and Issac were the smoothest niggas back in the day. R.I.P to the legends.

  • marvin gaye was an artist that took his music very seriousl…rip m.g.

  • Tha Fine Azz Gurl in tha Red was Tweakin Fo Marvin Gaye like seriously man Lol

  • Man... I wish he had recorded this rendition of, " By the time I get to Phoenix"... The we he sung that song was marvelous! Out of sight!!

  • The Jackson 5, version is nice as well as Isaac Hayes version

  • so sad and gorgeous singing

  • Is that James Jamerson on bass guitar? It sure does sound like him.

  • That woman in red ready to drop 'em for Marvin, CAN YOU BLAME HER!?!?!? LOL

  • @PeekaPeep I was thinkin the same thing ,She was about to pass out,can you imagine Marvin singing live right next to you ,Wow what a treat!!

  • girl in the red dress really feeling it haha

  • Isaac Hayes version is still the most iconic.

  • Anybody ever hear the Roger Whittaker version? I have it on cassette and am unable to convert it and upload it], if someone had it I'd appreciate it if they would upload it

Absolutely fantastic and a great arrangement. Did he ever release this anywhere????

  • @msea66

    I don't think so...

  • Mercy, mercy, me....

  • Why don't we hear music like this any more? TI guess too classy for the underclass to appreciate. I can seem them screaming ' WTF is this! Where is the Ferrari, the fire work explosions and the women wearing thongs"

  • Girl in red from 1:50-2:00: "Yeah, I'm giving it up tonight."

  • @KrfNYC2

  • @blkpanther11 There's no letters there.

  • @KrfNYC2 thats weird i think marvin doesnt get credit as a 60s singer he proved can hold his own

  • @blkpanther11 Yeah no doubt. He put down some serious vocals in the 60's (as he did thorughout his career). But I think that his music from the 70's, his music as a whole, is underrated. He is recognized as a great talent and an icon...but even still...I think he deserves MORE recognition.

  • God...Mavin. I prefer the more soulful Marvin (you know, the one that came with the beard) but man he could make any type of music sound impeccale.

  • check out the bass line, james jamerson?

  • marvin sang from the soul!! the girl in the red dress next to him was digging him you can tell by the way she looks at im lol.

  • marvin marvin marvin my man no other

  • Wonder if he's talking bout Tammy when at that time she passed away ?

  • thank you jimmy webb, america's greatest unknown songwriter

  • the Madlads version is the Best

  • Was this off a episode of Playboy after dark or something?

  • Great version. I wish that they had the full song without the beginning being cut off though. Marvin Gaye's the man. I enjoy Glen Cambell's version too, of course. Another good (and drawn-out) cover was made by Isaac Hayes.

  • @GeorgeLRockwell87 Isaacs cover is way too cool huh??I could keep it on repeat for the whole day...and just feel the soul melting like hot butter :D

  • @ildizastro Yeah!

  • oh how ive loved this song so long.. i never knew Marvin sang this.. wonderful..

  • You can never deny that their is a GOD with a gift like his this is a beautiful rendition on this song. I wish we could have artis that would sing more like this.

  • LOVE "Tha Manhattans" version the best!!! Followed by Isaac Hayes.

  • speechless...

  • i love the glen campbell classic but this is beautiful too:)

  • I couldn't agree with you more.

  • This is so fuckin cool!!! Today's R&B sucks compare to this right here. This is timeless.

  • @trellmatic I don't know if you know this or not, but this is a cover. Probably why it's better than most R&B.

  • Great stuff!!!

  • Great post, Marvin in transition from the purely sex symboled crooner of the 60's, to the ground breaking social and relationship commentator of the 70' and 80's... Just one short year later he changes the musical world with his groundbreaking album What's Going On.

  • My goodness, I can't stop listening to this song. I wish it was an actual track. lol. It's so beautiful. This is a great remake of Glen Campbell's classic track, IMO. Fantastic video!! 5 stars!! :-)

  • Beautiful!

    I love the unseen footage...

I'd really, really like to see his performance of "People" on one of those tv shows... I think the Mike Douglas show maybe... It mentioned it in the Hello Broadway booklet.

  • Sing it, Marvin! This was when he was on "Playboy After Dark". :)

  • Super Rare!!!
