Wow...if changing the lyrics is such a sin, someone needs to dig up James Brown, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday & Frank Sinatra, along with about a thousand others, and inform them of the error of their ways. I think the "la" sounds way cooler, personally. And the studio version of this song has much more punch, and is just as cool as the Cannibal & the Headhunters version. Thankfully it hasn't been beaten into the ground by oldies radio, either. Anyway, THE WALKER BROTHERS EFFIN' RULE!!!

I like the Walker Brothers BUT Cannibal and the Headhunters did a much better job with this song. Search Land of 1000 dances and check it out for yourself

But it is wrong for the Walker Brothers to sing "La" instead of the required "Na" in this song. For that, there is no excuse.

@cc1873cc - what's eve funner? The band Cannibal and the Headhunters introduced the "na" lyrics because the lead singer COMPLETELY forgot the next verse in the original. It's interesting to hear every artist's interpretation of this classic rock hit.
