  • that was good mate !

  • you remind me more of Dave Murray than yjm

  • can you play like this on non scalloped? i see you getting a lot of bozo questions on here, but for those of us strat players that wonder about this modification, maybe you can answer that.you're really flying here...

  • hey mate, do you think yjm can handle heavy songs?

    please reply! :D

  • Awesome!

I'm planning to buy this guitar!!

What strings are you using here?

  • The headstock looks pretty huge in this video.

So, I guess it's true what they say about the 70's strats, huh?

  • Dude, this is SICK. I want to buy one of those guitars. I guess you would recommend it? ;-)

  • Sounds like the bridge pickup is smooth too, not as shrill as a lot of SC pups can get.

  • Man, I can't wait to get my hands on the pickups at least for my strat.

  • Hello', compliments, Who wrote this music? thank you ;-)

  • all was pentatonic. but it's good though! :)

  • is it possible to get this backing track?

  • why can't i play guitar like this? :(

  • SATRIANI + YNGWIE =

  • Hi, I played on a new Malmsteen strat the other day and I really liked it but the high E string would slip off the fretboard way too easily IMO? Does yours do this?

  • The name of this video makes no sense.

    Neo- means-new.

Malmsteens genre of music is Neo Classical, because we all know he takes on classical concepts and integrates them though his guitar thus giving us a new outlook on classical music hence the word NEO.

But Fucking AWESOME PLAYING DUDE ROCK ON MAN...YOUR GOING PLACES!!

  • GROOVY!! cant stop shaking my head!

  • @masternoob1314 Its in the sound of a Strat compared to a BC rich. Which sound nothing alike. Yngwie has a lot of signature gear - his own pedals, amps, guitars, its all very custom to get his sound.

  • I had this playing ALL DAY and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE :D

  • Cool playing man. I'm really diggin that backing track too. Do you mind sharing it?

  • Cool playing man. I'm really diggin that backing track too. Do you mind sharing it?

  • This isn't very neo classical

  • @SwaggaBoy666 Agreed. It's not even close... more like Satriani if anyone.

  • Nice!!!!!1

  • i like ur backing, is it yours?

  • cool! where did ya get the backing track? ..awesome

  • This is a really shredding song... eheheh! ;)

  • Holy shit man, nice playing. I want the Strat, but without the scallops

  • Daaamn!It sounds so good,I love it!!!And you're a cool guitarist,I like your pentatonic licks ;)

  • JSX is a really underrated amp.

  • nice guitar, but get some new clothes man, come on , you look like a taxi driver.

  • Hey there, absolutly great playing ;) sounds really great I really wanna buy this, one question, I have a Roland cube 30x amplifier, do you know it ? 30 watt not a lot of should I also buy a new amp, to get a great tone ??

    keep on rock'n

  • That was just fantastic, great job.

  • More like George Lynch

  • very cool...you played it really tight! awesome

  • Dude, can you pls pls send me the backing track plz :)

  • AWESOME!! RIFF!! SOLO!!! DRIVE!! I WANT LISTEN YOU LIVE AT LARGE HALL!!!

  • how is the action on the guitar? i have the YJM strat 2007 and I can't seem to get the action low while having no buzzing frets. Also, the trem throws the guitar out of tune no matter what tricks I use.

  • @ceyhanb I have zero tuning problems, it stays in tune really well but I have had to raise the action up to avoid fretbuzz on the top strings. Its because it has a small 70's radius.

  • @paulscape72 hey according to the Fender page, the guitar should have the modern 9,5 inch radius.

  • @paulscape72 I have fretbuzzing on the A and D strings no matter the pushing with my fingers. How can I avoid it? It happens mostly on 6th and 4th/5th frets respectively.

  • @ceyhanb Check out my video "Chris Peeler Demo's pedal board"

  • @ceyhanb I had YJM strat 2007 also like yourself and had the same issue with fretbuzz while having low action.I sold mine when I came to conclusion that its not playable.I think many people who own one out there are facing similar issues , i say u wanna shred buy an Ibanez they have fast necks.

  • @ceyhanb

The action seems high because the neck is scallpped. The strings might be onthe same height from the frets as on any guitar but when you fret notes you don't touch the fretboard so it seems that it's high action although it isn't. Tha scallopped frets actually do make it harder to play, Yngwie just prefers the feel of it.

  • @ceyhanb at the back between the wall of the trem and the inner wall facing out from the springs put a wood barrier(glue it) make sure the wood sticks out and meets exact;y where you have the tremelo sat up prefferably flush to the body so everytime u loweer the bar it will return to its 'zero point" also get graphite saddles or string savers check the nut change it or check the strings and check the tuners also check that the trem screws are not out of height if u want take out the inner 2 ones

  • @ceyhanb that`s because big companies rip their customers off with these signature guitars that cost a lot but 80% of the money goes into the name/signature and 20% in quality.

  • @ceyhanb Try some string lube on the nut and the bridge. As regarding the low action, how low do you consider low? Where are the strings buzzing?

  • @bingefeller The deep scallops make it a little deceiving to check the action. No buzzing but the action is lower than I thought...I have raised it up and it's easy to play. I think thats the trick with 2007+ malmsteens, tine to e flat, use thin strings and keep the action higher.

  • post the backing track?

  • Hey i liked it! Where did u got the backing track?

  • how's the action on that guy? I have one myself...can't seem to get the action to my taste without fret buzzing....

  • Kickass playing man!!!

  • nice dude.

  • god piking

    buen plumilleo

  • Too cool! Where can I get the backing track?

  • Very good playing!

  • Scalloped Neck.... Scalloped Neck........

Awesome Video Bro..YJM is a god. he's one of my main influences besides joe/steve/john/jimmi/and so on but great playing man i love my strat

    KEEP ROCKIN

  • You Sound Like Yngwie!!! It Sounds Just Like His Tone!!!

  • does the scalloped neck make it harder to play?

  • Nothing like Malmsteen, but some nice playing overall. Love the tone.

  • Can you play chords with a scalloped neck? Many say you cant.. dont see why not though.. would love to play a yjm strat just to check out that neck..

  • @wedge070 Yes no problem

  • @wedge070 Nobody says you can't play chords on a scalloped neck

  • awesome

  • are you running the od pedal into a straight clean channel on the jsx or is it already dirty?

  • @wedge070 already dirty - crunch channel

  • I want to be your sex slave!

  • Any place I can find that backing track? It's quite awesome.

  • Are those EMG SA on your strat?

  • @Shyuum no they are the stock JYM dimarzio's and a H3 or whatever its called in the HB position

  • @paulscape72 YJMs not JYM

  • what's the price of one of this, i want one :D

  • are the pick ups in your guitar the seymour duncan ones that were made for malmsteen?

  • where is a good place to get backing tracks?

  • Great playing, but can you tell me where did you get that backing? Thank you!

  • Great jam going on here! I enjoyed the 'Lynch" vibe along with some sprinking of the neoclassical thrown in. Great to see a Malmsteen sig Strat in action playing other styles as well!

    Excellent job Paulscape72

  • @pointyguitarz Thanks mate!

  • Фак мой мозг! В рот мне ноги, чувак!!))

  • GET YO NEO JAM ON NEO CLASSICAL METAL IS FOR GODS ONLy

  • Awesome jam...some phenominal chops you've got goin' on there, 5*s. Nice Yngwie strat too...rock on!!

  • YOU Have Backing track Download Link?

  • Great vid. I have an yngwie strat also. They are the best !! Nice playing !!

  • fucking amazing!!!!!!

  • That sounded maybe 10 % neoclassical and 90 % bluesy.

  • This was sick.

  • Yeaaaahh!! fantastic paul.. 5 stars for you

  • Really liked how you overlap the riff w another low riff, fucking awesome i'd say

  • Bad ass performance brother!

  • let's jam someday!! i like your movements

please don't check my video, it sucks!! low quality :( but i'd love to jam with you see ya!!!+

  • at 01:57 what the effects you are using please?

  • Cant remember..chorus and delay???

  • but isn´t it hard to play an all scalloped neck

  • tabs pls pls pls

  • Hey great song.

¿what have you used, POD, VAMP, Amp.?

  • Peavey JSX amp

  • With a scalloped neck is easier make tapping with one hand isn't? have to make less pression

  • It's not exactly that black and white. Because of the very large frets and no wood touching, it may be easier but it will take a bit of getting used to. Because you don't have any support from the fretboard, the strings will feel a lot sharper and you may start to feel it a bit. I will say that bends and vibratos become 100x easier (well not the best word but youll see once you play one)

  • good player man nice

  • I have never tried a scalloped neck. Makes bending easier I hear. No wonder Yngwie is so fast.. scalloped necks and 8 gauge strings..lol

  • you gotta try one, even if its like a ibanez (Steve Vai Jem) you can bend super easy.

  • haha... but yngwie's tone is pretty good.. ushually with 8's u loos your tone completely... like steve lukather gr8 player but shit tone.... 9's and above is good tone i think.... but also it depends on pickups and amp and the gtr.. but string have alot to do with it tho

  • Its true, once you play the scalloped neck for a while, you get used to it,I played a YM strat today for about an hour, loved the neck and middle pickups (bridge not so much),loved the insane bending and less friction, then played a billy corgan strat, and even with jumbo frets,it felt weird,Im like, man its hard to bend on this lol.serious though it was awesome.

  • pretty awesome. I like the heavy tracks, nice legato style.

  • that was awesome congratulations :D keep rockinª!!!!!!!

  • where did you get that backing track from???

  • like the man himself...just stunning!!! 5*

  • awsome

  • Sweet.

  • that is one FUCKING KILLER groove you got going on! i love it!!!!! cool keep rockin bro.

  • bther estuvo bien pero la cagaste con el sonido d Joe Stump

  • awesome skills man....

  • Holy cow.. that just flat rocks my man. Hats off to a killer display of talent...

  • I would really like to get this backing track. could you send me it?

  • how awesome does it feel to play that axe? i want one soooooooooooooo bad

  • this is a cool video, you're really good!

  • mando bem, esse ae deve se viciado pra caraio

  • jesus christ there are some stupid people in here..i scalloped my guitars my self...and i love it..you can make bends that you never could on a normal neck..plus it was harder to play i guess i dont really know because i started playing with a scalloped neck from start...but if you press the strings to hard it will sound out of tune..so unless you know what you really do..MALMSTEEN is god

  • man u r so right.

  • OMFG I JUST GOT THIS GUITAR TODAY!

    SO EPICCCCCCC

    And i love this video

  • how is the action on that?

  • 500000000000000000 stars!!!! NICE!!!

  • awesom

  • Amazing man!

By the way, what's it like to switch from standard frets to scalloped?

  • not harder but different

  • Because I may want to get one of the Fender YJM models.

  • i tried scalloped, its weird at first but you start getting used to it after a few tries. I personally liked the scalloped more

  • The fucking rythum is fuckin great!!! LOve IT MAN!!! NIce!!.

  • better than yjm himself

  • hahaha better than yjm. funny

  • good man, almost good as me :)

  • I read that this guitar has a 3 way position switch. Why not 5? what's wrong with doubling pickups?

  • yngwie doesn't use the middle pickup, so he doesn't need 5 way positions :)

  • @GiobbaWylde what pick up does he use, the one nearest the bridge?

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY DiMarzio HS-3

  • as far i know it is because yjm modelled his guitar after ritchie blackmore, who didn't use the 2 and 4 positions and disabled them on his guitars

  • I wish people would stop saying that the frets are scalloped. It is the neck or fretboard which is scalloped!

  • @ANDYB1478 It's the fretboard that's scalloped.

  • @iloveskateboarding95 IT IS THE NECK IF IT IS MAPLE AND THE FRETBOARD IF IT IS ROSEWOOD, SO GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU MAKE A COMMENT.

  • @ANDYB1478 lol @ scalloped frets :P

  • nice! Where can I download that kind of backing tracks?

  • good job man...

  • DAMN! Burnin' that neck right up man. Well done. How do you like the feel of the scalloped frets?

  • sick

  • Amazing tone and amazing playing :D

  • i didnt understand mean of scalloped fret..sum1 pliz help me..lol

  • between each fret, there is a depression in which the fretboard curves inward. Its hard to explain but u get the idea. yngwie's guitars usually have scalloped fretboards. i think they're supppsed to make bends easier.

  • yeah i understand right now:)

    thanks:)

  • the point of scalloped fingerboard is that you get more grip of the strings which some people feel is nicer

  • Yeah i'm so sick of people say that it's cheating. I've heard a lot of scallopped players say that it actually makes playing harder... including YJM himself. I personally haven't had the opportunity to play a scallopped guitar... I'd like to, but i think it's just a preference thing.

  • awsome

  • how did you set up the knobs on the jsx

  • Your right hand moves exactly like malmsteen's one-

  • hi dude...could u send me the backing track ?

  • hey dude can you explain the feeling of a scalloped neck..

  • holy shit dude

  • Scalloped frets look fun to play on, are they more comfortable than standard fretboards? Or is it almost the same?

  • kinda the same when you get down to it but more fun to bend strings on...more grip. Cheers

  • ive nvr used scalloped frets how r they o_o??

  • wich scale are you using?

  • Id guess hes playing in e minor and uses e minor pentatonic and e minor/ e harmonic minor

  • Used OCD in clean JSX? Compliments, you are very number one! By

  • Nice, man.

  • Beautiful guitar. I have a japanese made yngwie strat and I love it. Great playing too.

  • Really nice sound! Which channel were you using on your JSX? I'm eventually trading my wah-pedal with a OCD V.3, so it was really nice to see this video!

    / Fredric

  • The camera makes the headstock look x-tra big, and the body a little smaller

  • headstock is big, yngwie likes the 60's type "large" headstocks so he uses em on his sig.'s

  • HATER

  • Hate that big headstock- era Strat

  • I love it.

  • me too.. just got a YJM signature today. it's awesome

  • nice improv dude. hows the fingerboard on that guitar by the way? and whered u get the baking track?

  • crazy, nailed yngwie but without being a cheap immitation. really good tone
