@dvh065 you want to move backward because it is a source of comfort and peace...the future is unknown..so that's scary and the present sucks...the problem is the past is not real...its memories...distorted over time...go for the present...it may be bad but its real...and that's all there is,,,and the present is all there ever will be..
@alexaadap The cause of her death was attributed to a previously undiagnosed brain aneurysm. I guess she thought she could cure with aspirins.............VERY SAD.
I knew Laura through her cousin Paul. Laurie, as Paul called her was very warm and friendly to me. I knew her in the 90's after the fact, but she was still gorgeous and had an incredible voice. I feel very lucky to have known her.

WOW! Listen to her vocal chords when she hits those high notes! Great voice. She has a REAL voice, not the screeching cat sounds of some of today's artists who can't obviously hold the notes and need the studio doctored backup help. Listen to some of the singers live and you'll know what I mean. Missing this kind of talent and music!
@jewel1260 was laura partillay deaf cause in one of her interviews she seemed responsive and is her going deaf made her to be able to extend her vocal cords a little more since she cant hear? answer
I love this voice <3 She makes me so happy. I can't say that all new music sucks though. I can say I love Mumford and Sons, and Florence and the Machine (before they were played on the radio), as well as Airborn Toxic Event. (Which despite the name, has a lot of good music, that isn't depressing like on would think.)
Like the movie industry all movies today pale in comparison. We who grew up back when the great artists were performing. When all of the big production movies, musicals and music blossomed you had to know that any of the next batch of "artists" would be hard pressed to hold a candle to those that came before. And along with this you have to consider the audience. What they want now is the most blood! The most sex! The most prurient titillation and cheap thrills they can.
Although, there are many soprano voices that all sound the same, it appears that alto voices like Laura's are very beautiful and distinct. Songs from yesteryear make me appreciate the voice, lyrics, the instruments and the lack of autotune which have made most modern music sound boring and lacking creativity. Just say'n...
@rcacoustic91 thats because you dont need talent anymore to be a famous singer like you did back then when real music was made and actually sang. Today, you just have to show some skin and sell yourself as an easy prostitute. You dont even have to be attractive, just easy. It is even okay that you can't carry a tune in a bucket because they have computers for that now. wow, a lot are famous for nothing and making crap with no value.
@rcacoustic91 It's true that music like most other facets of life have changed. It seems that I never saw what the artist looked like until their work had a strong foothold. Now days it would seem that no one will give an artist notice until we have seen what they look like or what their "thing" is. Guess it's like the strippers in Gypsy, ya gotta get a gimic!
Thanks, Laura, for the incredible albeit brief talent you shared with us!
Laura Branigan is my all time favorite it is some what heart breaking to see videos now that she is no longer with us. I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert she actually invited people to come on stage and hug her to bad that I was in the section she didnt call on. But thats the kind of person she was a a beautiful soul and voice to match.
You listening to this You Tube video all female and male singers today? Now this is what is called really singing from your soul without using auto-tune.
I had no idea she had died, just decided to 'youtube' her as I was nostagically thinking about the 80s. In Britain she was big in 1983 with 'Gloria' and the 'Flashdance' soundtrack but then sank without a trace, but her songs are always played at 80s themed nights, what a shame...
Nobody from the Middle East,Asia, and the World knows how to put Happy Music out anymore since at least like after the turn of the Century.
Too many doom, evil, dark, gloom music in the world. Its like Satan,Illuminati, whatever has deliberate control over everything to brainwash millions of youth that this is the only you are going to believe in and have to listen to. Accept it or be booted out of our World Club Religion!!!!!!
We brought children born into the world since the mid 1970s to present to have potential. Not to create their poo right down into the crapper.
And Im not referring to rap music but the remix trance crap, karoake crap, and autotune crap today. Actually the 1950s,1960s,1970s,and early 1980s is not the "Me Generation" The 1990s,2000s,and 2010s are the Real "Me Generation"
I love the 80's, both for the music and the absolutely beautiful ladies, (whether famous or not,) like Laura Branigan, Bonnie Tyler, Vixen, etc.
Can't agree more with you, Danny6092!! Country music is the best music that comes from America, along with rock bands like - We The Kings, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, etc, etc. England has nothing but modern rubbish by manufactured teenagers on tv exhibitions "shows".
@Ice79cold I started getting into Country Music around the end of the 1980s. Dont get me wrong I like all styles of Music---Metal,Rock & Roll,Classic Rock,Progressive,Pop,Jazz,Funk,Southern Rock,Classical,Ballad,Soul,R&B,you name it. But it is hard to find that you name it to like. I hate TRance because everything put out is sad, negative, dark, gloomy, and depressing.
I remember heading to a meeting and when I got there they were surprised I was there cause they had heard the news of her death and thought I would just leave work that day (fortunately or unfortunately they confused my love of pat benatar for laura) while I didn't leave work for Laura's death I did play all my 33's and cds that night cause I loved her too. There is some gal now that has a single out that is slow but her voice trills a bit like laura's, not a s good but I hear it.
its crazy that America used to make amazing pop music like this ! now there is nothing except the likes of that katie perry and rihanna creatures, pleeeease pass the sick bag yuck ¬!
@danny6092 yes. i agree. but know this. there are human beings God put on this earth that still do care. and there will always be someone many do not know on this earth and in this universe that will carry the fire. i hope for everyone and their familes, loved ones, friends a safe healthy merry christmas & new year too. keep the faith. love you all.

@Jamesrock you know. there are so many people i have known personally family, friends, aquaintence, and well known worldwide that has died in the last 30 years since 1980. like karen carpenter, laura branigan left us too young.
coincidently this song was released in march 1983 a month after karen carpenter passed away.
rip, she had a amazing voice that i loved... she and her music was a part of my child hood growing up in the 80`s ... :-) we will never forget her or the 80`s..
my friend Laura Branigan singing live and never sounding so good....we learned a few things from each other. I opened for her several times very early in our recording careers. Lawrence Leritz . RIP xoxo
@JoeManelli sorry about your friend Laura. I so much enjoyed her music, still do, never any controversy with her, no prima dona antics, just a realyy talented beautiful girl taken too early. Guess God needed her more than we did.
Laura Brinigan was a true vocal genius...My Uncle discovered her..
He was the founder of Atlantic Records...he told me her never heard a voice so pure like hers in his lifetime.& he rerecorded musical legends...She was taken too soon from us...She did have an amazing voice....RIP Laura..Ill never forget the sweet song you sang to me when I was young...Thank you foe everything...God Bless you..you are amongst the angels now sining with them..
She was very accesible, caring and kind with her fans. She used to call them her other half. We miss u Laura Branigan! Hope one day a good film tells your life.

@MIKE761CPU I also give credit to your Uncle for discovering Laura. It takes heart and soul to discover and nurture talent. Today's A & R people seem to either be hard of hearing or have mushrooms growing inside their ears.
@SusanSusaw I love your comment .......................I actually think today these people from music industry have not much choice and they have to deal what it's been playing today................
I think that was actually her brother, who sadly passed away years before she did.
SOmeone post the HT mix, it's one of my faves remixes HT ever did...back in the day when remixes were rare and unusual and special (and manually done...)

my friend Laura Branigan singing live and never sounding so good....we learned a few things from each other.

@MIKE761CPU I went to school with the gal who wrote this song. I always loved Brannigan's performance. She was taken from us far too early.

The passion on her face in the recording studio when she is singing the words.
Amazing. You could really tell she was feeling the words she was singing.

Truly beautiful woman, sadly missed. Bears more than a passing resemblance to Karen Carpenter.

I think that was actually her brother, who sadly passed away years before she did.
SOmeone post the HT mix, it's one of my faves remixes HT ever did...back in the day when remixes were rare and unusual and special (and manually done...)
