Nelson is Sarah Palin's DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY! Palin is a SUPERIOR politician and statesman than Nelson could ever be. She is also MORE MAN than he is for Nelson wears the skirt in his family while his wife wears the pants!
Nelson, a Democrat, better change his tune quick, or he'll be out of a job. 72% of Americans want a public option for health care. And I dont think very many of them would mind seeing a tax on the rich to pay for it.
Side note: Did you see the hearing when Hank Apulson admitted to receiving a $200 million cash out on his Goldman Sachs stock ON WHICH HE PAID NO TAX --ZERO.
I'd like for the American people to get a little of our money back from the filthy rich Wall Street Syndicate.
I agree with the Blue Dogs that the Bill needs to be a well thoughtout piece of legistlation getting us value for our money.
What I do not agree with is that taxes need to stay stagnant. This is the rich crying poor once again. I don't think there is a single patriotic American out there who would mind their taxes going up if we get a good program that addresses the current issues.
The answer is NOT the status quo or making a weak bill b/c we don't want to take on the insurance companies.
Shouldn't the "Blue Dog" dems then become engaged in the process and pour over the documents so they know exactly what it is they're trying to "slow down". No, their job is to read and pass legislation. They get paid a lot of money to do it. They need to make reading and having input into this bill their priority, not going on tv shows and explaining why it's not going to work and why they are shirking their responsibilities. I respect your opinion but I just have to disagree on that one point.
I love that the "tax is a four letter word" bit went over so many people's heads. Makes it so much easier to filter out the idiots.
Also, the proposed 5.9% surtax is not an option. Almost feels like they put it in as a fake bargaining chip to be compromised out later to seem bipartisan. Or maybe they just really don't want it to pass.
With Dems like him noone will wonder why Dems are in for trouble with 2010. They act like they are for the American people but they are really just whoring for their insurance industry pimps.
Since the Reagan era more manufacturing has moved off shore leaving 70% of our GDP made up of consumer spending. Under this system if you tax the poor and middle class more they will have less disposable income to support our unsustainable system. The rich are not going to buy 50 microwave ovens each to make up for the ones the middle class and poor will not be able to afford and the system will crash. The rich are the only people you can tax to keep the system running a bit longer.
Depends on how the public sector spends the money. If they employ people with the additional money then yeah, consumer spending will stay the same or increase. Learn economics.

Something for nothing or not at all! All those thousands of Nebraska multimillionaires who pull his strings want to keep their money. He'd rather get free health care for Nebraskans by inserting an earmark in an unrelated bill -- and let it be financed with deficits.
We must protect our corporate masters! We need their money for our do nothing families and mistrisses. We have pledged a bloodoath to do their bidding!
Nelson gets the cream of the crop Healthcare, serving (vomiting in own mouth) the country, does he pay for his own Healhcare or are we, the tax payors paying it?
you know its the same for all governent employees right? Even though health care reform is 40 years in the making, they've only had a bill for a month or two, however the idea has been around for 40 plus years. I don't know about you, but i'd rather not have mistakes in a bill that will drasticially "change the status quo" as Obama put it. So, i don't think it would kill us to wait after august, let Congress read a couple of 1000 page bills i.e. Cap-and-Trade, and Healthcare, and get it right.
If it's all the same for them, why can't it be all the same for everyone? Why not offer what they get to all of American's without a pre-existing clause.
My sister is retired, has no healthcare, the only coverage she can get would cost her $2600/mo..that's $31,000/yr,, she can't afford that, most people can't...the system stinks, and Republicans and some Democrats are in the pocket of Insurance and the AMA.
Sorry, but we tried bi-partisanship earlier. It didn't work if Sen. Nelson remembers. We voted for 60 democratic Senators for a reason. And it wasn't to cower at the hard stuff. It wasn't for bi-partisanship.
The sad thing is, Nelson is what passes for a liberal in Nebraska. It'd be very hard to get a real progressive elected statewide there. But if there's one issue that can switch people to our side, it's health care reform.
Considering that Senators and Reps get a retirement pension equal to their salary for life after serving just one term, most Congressmen consider JUST SHOWING UP to be hard work.
"No Deadline" Why so you can delay it from passing for 50 years? "No Taxes" Fuck you EQUALIZE THE TAX PERCENTAGE ON EVERY CLASS YOU GREEDY FUCKING REPUBLICANS.
This message is brought to you by a Moderate Conservative that lives in North Texas =).
Good question. He complains about cost, but the public option saves money. He says "Americans" don't want to tax the rich to pay for health care, but 75% of Americans said they would support an increase on the wealthy to make health care possible.
He's a tool of corporate interests and should be kicked out of Congress.
That's a good idea. Senators should have to wear the names and logos of their corporate sponsors the way NASCAR drivers do. In which case Nelson would be wearing a big red jacket with PHILIP MORRIS and UNITED HEALTHCARE written across the back.
Excellent point, 3star2nr. In fact, it won't even equalize things: taxes on the rich will still be lower than they were in the 1990s if the proposed increase is passed. There's a good chart showing this at Andrew Sullivan's blog.
To see it, google for the phrase (in quotes) "Yet More Bad Arguments Against Taxes." It's the first hit.

Bush, Cheney & the Neo-Cons exempted the very rich from taxes.
As Hemsley said paying taxes is for poor people.
Unfortunately, making multimillion dollar campaign contributions & owning politians is for rich people.

The government just makes it up as they go ?
Witnessing cool country go down the tubes and the hamster population waves the flag as they do it.
I can't believe it, but there it is.
Obama can't even PROVE he's eligible to hold office of the President, the majority question nothing.
For all you idiots out there in la la land a birth certificate doesn't prove if a citizen is natural born or not.
Registration of a Live Birth does, that's why one isn't provided. Its pure government bull shit.
