@saisblue211 ur cleary retarded, i know both languages and I can tell the toungue rolling between the languages. Korean sounds alot more stiff and involves a lot less rollin of the tongue, like japanese, Chinese however is the opposite. It's pretty damn easy to tell
She definitely isn't Korean. I'm Korean and we all know how to pronounce the "L" properly. It's in our alphabet. But regardless, one of my favorite prank phone calls ever haha
Yeah, this lady actually has a Chinese or Taiwanese accent. Definitely not Korean or Japanese or Vietnamese; I've listened to all these accents and Koreans wouldn't pronounce "clock" in this way. It'd be more of a "Cull-ocku."
I love it when people who mastered their little corner of the universe have to crowbar their knowledge into situations that don't call for it.
Where this woman is from is quite trivial in this context. So we're all happy for you that you taught ESL for 10 years and developed an ear to differentiate Asian accents.
But this is joke time, not time to get hung up on trivial details that have zero impact on the humor. Would it be more or less funny if she were from China, Korea or Vietnam?
@bluemonolith88 yea, ur soft white penis needed to be fixed. but ur mom is a better choice, since she knows every parts of your organ so much better than anyone else.
@why123 haha, my big white penis needs fixing to make it smaller because my chink girlfriend's pussy's so tiny. it's so tiny because she's only been fucked by some asian boy with a tiny pecker like you. oh, you speak worse english than this clock cunt, why123. You should've wrote: It's funny how Koreans cannot accept the fact that she is Korean. amongst other errors, it's just one fact, not facts, that she's a chink or gook or whatever, whyboy.
@AussieRaver1996 again, this is Korean lady now Chinese. Search Korean phonology and Mandarin phonology and Cantonese phonology. you would know Chinese languages do not have ambiguous L/R consonant like Korean.
@flywhc That's why if you were write down "클락" (clock), which also has /r/ in the middle, and ask a Korean to read it for you, then the person would say "clock," not "crock." Of course, there can be unusual exceptions. But the point is that judging by the accent of this "clock lady" alone, it's hard to say what ethnicity she is for sure. But you, like an idiot, actually said she can only be Korean based on your complete misunderstanding of Korean language - which you don't even speak.
@flywhc And speaking of your anecdotal accounts (true or not), I can attest far, far more cases of Koreans saying "clock" as "clock," not as some weird slur between "cock" and "crock." I know this because, unlike you, I'm a native speaker of both Korean and English and have so, so much more experience with both languages. Btw, I can't believe I wrote a damn essay to educate a native Chinese fool like you. Think what you want if you're still conceited enough to believe in your own shit. lol
@valjorama That essay was written for Canadian, and written by a Korean Linguist. Again please read "Articulatory Characteristics of Word-initial /l/ in Korean" by the Sunyoung Oh (University of British Columbia). After talking to my Korean friend, I know Korean has two ways to pronounce /kl/: slow way adds a vowel to allow moving tongue like /kelo/, fast way doesn't move tongue tip like /kro/. 클락 is the first way add additional vowel after K.You are so rude with dirty mouth like many Korean.
@flywhc The point at the end is that you've been wrong all along. And you managed to make brazen and sweeping generalizations about 10s of millions of Koreans based on gross misinformation and likely some inferiority/superiority complex many Chinese have about Koreans. So I gave you a small lesson. If you didn't like it, then at least have the balls to take it like a man, instead of whining like a dim-witted and ethnocentric Chinese by saying "...dirty mouth like many Korean [sic]."
@valjorama in the UK and China, we define a man should be a gentleman, who arguing in logic and polite manner, rather than mad dirty words.Suppose Korea is same. I did not write "all" because my Korean friends in London are gentleman. I am happy to see you stop using dirty words in public and happy to see we have at least one agreement: don't like this video and that racist in radio. I hope Chinese and Korean can be friends because many thing in common. I stop argue with you here.
@flywhc Then according to your own definition of a gentleman, you're not a gentleman because you don't argue with logic or even truth. Btw, you're not even polite. You've been arguing here with misinformation, lies, and illogical claims. I don't mind an honest man who curses, but it's a dishonest, prejudicial, and repugnant ass like you, flywhc, who's still conceited enough to believe in his own shit that I loathe. I hope your English gets better in the meantime. "mad dirty words?" lol
@flywhc Btw, I have read that essasy by Oh, the content of which I already knew w/o all those pedantic lingos, and I did imply that I read it in the very first comment I made today by saying "as in the essay." What other essay could I possibly been referring to when I said that? Scroll down and look. You need to learn to read more attentively.
@flywhc On another note, it's pitiful how so many Chinese and Koreans here tried to say that 'the clock lady' can't be one of them because likely they didn't want to be made fun at along with the lady - even though it's not clear from her accent what her ethnicity is for sure. For many whites, there's no difference. If whites are making racist jokes about Chinese or whoever, then they're making jokes about all Asians. We should all defend the person, instead of bickering with each other.
@flywhc oh well, shes korean, i wouldn't not know, u proberly would , so i can't say your wrong, but anyways, i was just talking about her repeating her self
Let's see how many of you can even speak/pronounce properly Korean, Chinese, Russian, or any other second language.
We laugh at other people because they can't pronounce some of our words properly. But the entire world, from Europe to Asia, really laughs at the Americans for being monolingual and challenged/threatened by anything even remotely out of their own culture.
@NYCxJACK my sentiment, too. it's amazing how some but so many americans are insular and crass enough to enjoy this kind of garbage on radio. here is this poor lady who went though all the trouble to make a life for herself in a new country, being a part of millions of immigrants who help make our economy stay competitive and growing, and these idiots had to publicly lampoon her just because she can't pronounce one word properly. it makes me think so lowly of some people in this country.
@spencerxiong It is Korean. Search Wikipedia for "Korean_phonology". read the paragraph “/l/ is an alveolar flap [ɾ] between vowels...”. Try search Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese phonology and see under "L" consonant. Only can be Korean.
I should tell my dad. He pronounces Clock like that too maybe. And the black clock part was the funniest. "I'll it in" "Put in what?" "The small cock"
@fcuk9youu I have both korean and cantonese friend and I can speak some korean, japanese, cantonese and mandrin. Korean and Japanese language do not have L but L is a common word in all Chinese accents. So this lady must be korean or japanese. She is not japanese because japanese lady speak softer (you have to learn two language to know what soft is I meant).
@flywhc You're completely wrong. "Clock" is phonetically spelled as "클락" (2 syllables) in Korean. "Cock" is spelled as "칵" (1 syllable). A typical Korean with a heavy accent would make a distinct two syllable sound, not one syllable sound like this lady. "ㄹ" makes "L" sound in Korean. What Korean and Japanese lack is a true "R," not "L."
What's amazing is how these closet racist jackasses so crassly make fun of some hardworking immigrant lady - whichever ethnic origin she might be.
@valjorama you should check evidence before saying "complete wrong". Check Wikipedia and search for "Korean_phonology". Plz read paragraph “/l/ is an alveolar flap [ɾ] between vowels...”. And search Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese phonology and see what you can get under "L" consonant. In short, L is pronounced more like R in English to native English speakers. Believe me because I am a British Chinese living in London.
I do agree with you that should not make fun like that.
@flywhc you're wrong again. we, the people who are native english speakers, don't pronounce L more like R. we pronounce L like L and R like R. koreans and japanese have much harder time with R than L because while both languages lack true L or R sound, the sound they do have is much closer to L than R. you don't speak fluent Korean, and judging by how awkwardly you write, you don't even speak very good english. just don't spread misinformation over something this racist and silly, flywhc.
@valjorama Living in England for 10+ years, my English might not be perfect yet but my English colleagues agree with me as well. I am living in an area close to New Malden Korean town in London and hear they speak "Client" as "Krant" everyday. I wrote the fact and refer to Wikipedia to show evidence. Even I have a couple of good friends here from South Korea. I did say agree with you that this video was bad why you against me in personal?
@flywhc this is absurd. you don't speak korean, and you don't even speak good english. but you're making an asinine argument to a native speaker for both languages about the subtle difference between korean and english pronunciation by presenting some irrelevant things off the internet and anecdotal accounts as evidence. just write down "클락" and "칵," and politely ask your korean acquaintances to pronounce them for you. you will definitely hear L when they are pronouncing "클락" (clock).
@valjorama As I wrote I know Korean can say L correctly however if a Korean doesn't speak English well and quickly speak Clock or Client, L is more like R because his tongue tip cannot move from bottom to top fast enough. My Korean friend can correctly say 'clock' indeed but his wife who work in Korean restaurant can't.It depends on education background I guess.I got MSc degree and a number of English test certificates during my education in England.
@flywhc It's because Koreans/Japanese pronounce L much better than R since they have hard time rolling their tongues to pronounce R. Try this. Have either you or a Brit to sound out 'Ba-Lam' (wind) in two distinct syllables to a Korean person. Then say 'Ba-Ram' to the same person. The Korean person is more likely to understand 'Ba-Lam' than "Ba-Ram' because while the actual Korean sound (/r/) is somewhere between English L and R, Koreans pronounce /r/ much closer to English L than R.
@valjorama Please read "Articulatory Characteristics of Word-initial /l/ in Korean" by Sunyoung Oh (University of British Columbia). Sunyoung Oh is a Korean Linguist. Use google to find this essay.
@flywhc This is why I said you can't make an argument about the subtleties of Korean pronunciation when you don't even speak or understand Korean. As in the essay, /l/ changes depending on where it's placed. For e.g., if /l/ is at the end, it sounds like L in English. If /l/ is in the middle or beginning, "바람 " (wind) for e.g., /l/ sometimes changes to /r/, which sounds somewhere between English L and R. But this Korean /r/ sound is much closer to English L sound than R. Get it?
@valjorama Really suspect you are a "native English speaker" because in England people usually won't say "you are complete wrong" and "wrong again" in this way on a forum. And you even didn't understand I was not racist but against this video with you.
I know Korean can pronounce L as English L but when L in middle of a word after K they cannot move tongue tip from bottom to top. This is called alveolar flap in phonology academically.try search wikipedia or any Korean Phonology book in English.
@flywhc "Clark," a name, is also phonetically spelled as "클락," just as "clock." When you ask a Korean to pronounce "클락," he/she'd say it just like "clock." "Clark" is hard to pronounce for most Koreans because they have to roll their tongues - which is something you almost never do in Korean - to sound out R. That's why it's commonly understood that Koreans and Japanese have hard time pronouncing R, not L, and foreigners are better off saying L than R when trying to pronounce Korean /r/.
@flowermanable minstrel shows weren't a joke to blacks. mikey ronney's character in breakfast at tiffany's weren't a joke to japanese. btw, the following sentence is a joke for me but it may not a joke for you: don't be a dumb fucking racist troll, flowermanable. lol
@flowermanable how the fuck would anybody know he or she's "better" than some 7 billion people in the world, dummy? that's just pathetic, flowerboy, even as a bad attempt at sarcasm. but i'm sure i'm smarter and "better" than you, flowerboy, on the account of you being such a naive fool. lol
@valjorama "lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol" who do i sound like? im not the one getting hella defensive about this video on like 4 pages of its comments. this video is your life so go back to korea and suck kimm ii-sungs cock you commy
@flowermanable lmao who do you sound like? you sound like a naive, insecure, and foolish white kid throwing a temper tantrum just because some stranger gave him a small lesson on racial bias and civility. kudos to you for proving my point that you're indeed a naive fool, flowerboy.
@valjorama oh im sorry i really am naive. i forgot you asians dont have dicks to be sucked. idk how i did but i apologize for forgetting that fact. LOL
@flowermanable then how do millions of asian girls get pregnant every year with asian babies? the immaculate conception? lol you're not even smart enough to make a proper racist insult, flowerboy.
@valjorama Jesus dude you've spent too much time on this video... not trying to sound offensive or like a jackass or anything but i wouldn't be surprised if you've memorized this whole video's dialoge... If you don't like what people are saying right now then why do you keep on coming back to this video?
@killerhamster21594 i don't care much for the vid, but what people say on the comment section here hiding behind the anonymity of the internet does amuse me.
@valjorama haha ya its funny watching flame wars on youtube... its kinda stupid. i know flowermanable hes just fuckin wit u he likes gettin into flame wars haha
@killerhamster21594 lol regardless of what you claim, you're an asian. and how would you even know some username flowermanable on youtube is white or not?
@valjorama ya im asian, have i said anything against myself of not being asian yet? i never denied that i wasn't. and i personally know flowermanable, like he goes to my school.
@killerhamster21594 hah, if that's true then tell him he's an idiot when you see him. otherwise, you should just stay out and don't interfere with me having my little amusement. xD
@valjorama ok well don't worry ive already told him to shut up. as u can clearly see he hasn't posted back yet so im guessing he listened... i apologize on his behalf because he's too smug to do it himself, so i guess this ends this dispute
@flowermanable Wow are you ever a dumbass. I'm sitting here wishing I could punch you in your face but can't because you feel the need to spread hate behind the mask of the internet. Really fucking brave, aren't you?
Who cares what it is, Korean, Chinese, they ALL sound the SAME and look the SAME. Hee Hee.... I wouldn't mind some "Cock" right now. As long as I don't have to wind it up.
She is not Korean. How ignorant for him to say she is Korean. She sounds Cantonese. It's like saying Queen Elizabeth is Russian. Very rude for Asian people. Especially for the Korean people. So what if she has an accent in English. Just imagine how rediculous he would sound speaking Cantonese with English Accent. Total Rudeness.... (even thouh I know this is all just for a joke).
@akibem1 I am cantonese myself, I see no Cantonese accent? funny how Korean people always make something non-Chinese to Chinese, and Chinese to non-Korean. fucking gooks...
@akibem1 you said the "clock lady" is toisanese? sorry, I myself from Hoisan, that's not how a Hoisanese speak english either. Judging from her accent, she speaks a better english than a Hoisanese who doesn't speak english well. the way she speaks "cock" sound like "kawk", and we Hoisanese does not speak like that,"kuck" is how many Hoisanese pronounce "cock". toisanese is the cantonese accent of Hoisanese.
@why123 Check the personal message I sent to you. I have no ill feelings towards the Chinese. You are taking this too personal. Talk to a Korean person, they will nknow this is not a Korean accent. Cheers.
@why123 ey wtf is up with u lol? this is a fckin joke u no life faggot. gtfo youtube if ur gonna be like that... i really dont care IF she actually is korean, it's a funny vid and u shouldnt really get serious about other ppl's opinions.
@DeAzncy hey, bitch. tell the same to the other 100000 persons who did the same like me. if you don't expect it, then shut your fucking mouth or at least know something before you shitting them out. if you really got shit, keep it, we don't want it.
@why123 no, why dont you stfu and stop wasting time trying to pick fights with people all over youtube. i already said it was just my opinion and shouldnt interfere with yours. this conversation is over.
@japanesexxx I am cantonese myself, fucktard, I hear nothing Cantonese here. we say Cock in a high tone. don't misleading people, gooks. I know how you feel.
@saisblue211 ur cleary retarded, i know both languages and I can tell the toungue rolling between the languages. Korean sounds alot more stiff and involves a lot less rollin of the tongue, like japanese, Chinese however is the opposite. It's pretty damn easy to tell

What's amazing is how these closet racist jackasses so crassly make fun of some hardworking immigrant lady - whichever ethnic origin she might be.
valjorama 1 year ago 2
@valjorama you should check evidence before saying "complete wrong". Check Wikipedia and search for "Korean_phonology". Plz read paragraph “/l/ is an alveolar flap [ɾ] between vowels...”. And search Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese phonology and see what you can get under "L" consonant. In short, L is pronounced more like R in English to native English speakers. Believe me because I am a British Chinese living in London.
I do agree with you that should not make fun like that.
flywhc 1 year ago
@flywhc you're wrong again. we, the people who are native english speakers, don't pronounce L more like R. we pronounce L like L and R like R. koreans and japanese have much harder time with R than L because while both languages lack true L or R sound, the sound they do have is much closer to L than R. you don't speak fluent Korean, and judging by how awkwardly you write, you don't even speak very good english. just don't spread misinformation over something this racist and silly, flywhc.
valjorama 1 year ago
@valjorama Living in England for 10+ years, my English might not be perfect yet but my English colleagues agree with me as well. I am living in an area close to New Malden Korean town in London and hear they speak "Client" as "Krant" everyday. I wrote the fact and refer to Wikipedia to show evidence. Even I have a couple of good friends here from South Korea. I did say agree with you that this video was bad why you against me in personal?
flywhc 1 year ago
@flywhc this is absurd. you don't speak korean, and you don't even speak good english. but you're making an asinine argument to a native speaker for both languages about the subtle difference between korean and english pronunciation by presenting some irrelevant things off the internet and anecdotal accounts as evidence. just write down "클락" and "칵," and politely ask your korean acquaintances to pronounce them for you. you will definitely hear L when they are pronouncing "클락" (clock).
valjorama 1 year ago
@valjorama As I wrote I know Korean can say L correctly however if a Korean doesn't speak English well and quickly speak Clock or Client, L is more like R because his tongue tip cannot move from bottom to top fast enough. My Korean friend can correctly say 'clock' indeed but his wife who work in Korean restaurant can't.It depends on education background I guess.I got MSc degree and a number of English test certificates during my education in England.
flywhc 1 year ago
@flywhc It's because Koreans/Japanese pronounce L much better than R since they have hard time rolling their tongues to pronounce R. Try this. Have either you or a Brit to sound out 'Ba-Lam' (wind) in two distinct syllables to a Korean person. Then say 'Ba-Ram' to the same person. The Korean person is more likely to understand 'Ba-Lam' than "Ba-Ram' because while the actual Korean sound (/r/) is somewhere between English L and R, Koreans pronounce /r/ much closer to English L than R.
valjorama 1 year ago
@valjorama Please read "Articulatory Characteristics of Word-initial /l/ in Korean" by Sunyoung Oh (University of British Columbia). Sunyoung Oh is a Korean Linguist. Use google to find this essay.
flywhc 1 year ago
@flywhc This is why I said you can't make an argument about the subtleties of Korean pronunciation when you don't even speak or understand Korean. As in the essay, /l/ changes depending on where it's placed. For e.g., if /l/ is at the end, it sounds like L in English. If /l/ is in the middle or beginning, "바람 " (wind) for e.g., /l/ sometimes changes to /r/, which sounds somewhere between English L and R. But this Korean /r/ sound is much closer to English L sound than R. Get it?
valjorama 1 year ago
@valjorama Really suspect you are a "native English speaker" because in England people usually won't say "you are complete wrong" and "wrong again" in this way on a forum. And you even didn't understand I was not racist but against this video with you.
I know Korean can pronounce L as English L but when L in middle of a word after K they cannot move tongue tip from bottom to top. This is called alveolar flap in phonology academically.try search wikipedia or any Korean Phonology book in English.
flywhc 1 year ago
@flywhc "Clark," a name, is also phonetically spelled as "클락," just as "clock." When you ask a Korean to pronounce "클락," he/she'd say it just like "clock." "Clark" is hard to pronounce for most Koreans because they have to roll their tongues - which is something you almost never do in Korean - to sound out R. That's why it's commonly understood that Koreans and Japanese have hard time pronouncing R, not L, and foreigners are better off saying L than R when trying to pronounce Korean /r/.

(even thouh I know this is all just for a joke).

akibem1 1 year ago

Cheers.
