@Da: like xysmurf said, we have sales tax on top of the pound/dollar. though some states dont have sales tax, in california, our taxes are 9.75%, which is rounded up to 10% essentially. so our dollar stores are actually 1 dollar & 10 cents. :(

@rumpole33 yes, we have tax on everything in britain so when you look at the price thats the price u pay, if u go into a pound shop like this you only pay £1 becoz the tax is already included :) at our supermarkets it the same the tax is already added onto the price :)

@xysmurf1 Nah they don't. In the UK the VAT is included in the price you pay. So a pound shop will get 83.5p from a sale, 17.5p is VAT.
