  • Looking trhough the CoP... Does anyone know who performed following release skill: "Swing fwd and salto bwd stretched with 1½ turn (540°) to hang on HB"? It must be HUGE and I can't think of anyone doing it, but on the other hand, why would it be in the CoP if nobody ever did it?

  • 2:51 to think that jiani wu's daughter is now a world champion. how time flies.

  • counter kim for me is the best release

  • LOL at how most of them are done by chinese ;P

  • I can't really understand the difference between the move performed by Imogen and Nastia. It looks the exact same. :\

  • @crazynightsinparis Imogen's is piked while Nastia's is layout. They do look the same when you first see them but if you watch carefully you'll see that Nastia keeps a straight body while she's on the air and pikes before she catches the bar while Imogen has a pike position during the whole move

  • great video..love the edit..congrats..

  • I love 0:10...

  • I must say I didn't realise there were so many release moves for the uneven bars I think I knew about four of these. I also didn't realise Beth Tweddle has a move named after her.

  • does it go from A to G, G being the highest?

  • Didnt Emilie LePennec do a def in Athens?

  • piked deltchev is difficulty D

  • Your videos are amazing! What is the name of this song? I see the name of the artist, but not the title of the song. Thanks for making awesome videos!

  • It seems like all the skills the gymnasts do today are just a few different ones that they all do over and over, all of them. They don't do all the hard old ones that looked so cool and different. Now they mostly all do the same skills.

  • Sometimes i dont understand why tis skills get certain difficulty values i mean that 1 arm geinger should have at least been an E

  • The reason we don't see the complicated releases (Gaylord, Def, etc) as often is because the true source of difficulty on UB, with this CoP, is pirouettes. Why risk coming off on a release when you can do a string of Healys, Onos and Stalders, which is more valuable?

  • @TsubasaDreams I know France is big on doing def's. But i mean, today gymnastics focuses more on difficulty and leaves the execution looking like crap. I mean its like Beth Tweddle and Nastia. Beth was going for bigger moves, but getting bigger deductions for them. And Nastia (great gymnast) but she was getting basically deductions in almost every move she did. Its like execution really doesnt matter to them, all they care about is how difficult they can get their routine.

  • @brycehelmer I don't really understand your comparison between Tweddle and Nastia. Tweddle had late pirouettes and a higher D-score than Nastia. You have to remember that the judges see it from the side so tiny leg separations that we can see in slow motion or from the front may not be seen by the judges. If you really want to compare execution, watch Mustafina or Nabieva. Helicopter legs, bent knees, horrible form in general. Mustafina has no business doing 3.5s and Amanars.

  • @TsubasaDreams But the judges get camera views from every angle, do they not?

  • @TsubasaDreams I wasnt comparing them. I was using them as examples, but i wasnt comparing them. If you think i was, then i apologize for confusing you.

  • What is the difference between a ling and a healy/ ono?

  • @makT890 A Ling is a giant in L-grip with regrasping with one arm to reverse grip and immediate full turn to L-grip (Healy). It means:

    Healy: reverse grip -> L-grip

    Ono: L-grip -> reverse grip

    Ling: L - grip -> L-grip

  • i love beth tweedle <3

  • Where is Olga Korbut's release? It is the hardest I've ever seen.

  • @Irishpeacegirl it will never be in the code because it involves standing on the bar, which is illegal in womens gymnastics because it breaks the movement of swing movements. BTW it is not the hardest release i have ever seen elena mukhianas release was a korbut flip with a full twist

  • @makT890 I don't think I've ever seen Elena Mukhianas release and thx for the info :D

  • How come piked Ginger has the same difficulty as one arm/layout ginger??

  • is it considered a release skill to do a pirouette just off of the bar?

  • or vault with 1/2 turn in flight, into reverse swing, into tucked jaeger, would look sick!

  • does anyone ever do a volpi anymore? that looks cool, would be awesome to connect into piked gienger. or a vault with 1/2 turn in flight in rev./opposite direction into piked gienger. also i think straddled tkachev and piked jaeger would be great pair of release skils

  • oh i saw those are komova's 2 release skills--in comment to last sentence! She is great!!!

  • I'm kind of surprised that the Caslavska is rated so high. To me, the Shushunova looks like a half pirouette into a Khorkina. That skill performed by Wu Jiani, is it no longer used because it's hard to perform without belly-beating which is no longer allowed or is it not seen because of the low difficulty rating? I think a full-twist would look nice on that and make it a, say, E skill?

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 - belly beating is impossible for the women today, never mind being dissallowed.....the bars are so far apart they'd need to be 8 feet tall to perform it !!!!!!

  • @garyj79 No, I know that. I just mean that is Wu's skill only able to be performed after a belly beat? They have to be able to swing hard enough for that skill if the Khorkina is possible.

  • Seeing the Gaylord and the Gaylord 2 in this makes me think that maybe in 20-30 years, we'll see Kovacs and Kolmans in the women's uneven bars.....

  • @cleicsioluek - im sure a few of the girls/women would be able to do it...provided they have the room to generate speed thru the swing into them....maybe a free hip into Kovac or Kolman? men dont have to tackle the lower bar when swinging of course.....

  • I think i heard somewhere that liu xuan's 1 armed gienger was given such a low value because they wanted to discourage other girls from doing it since it was dubbed too dangerous

  • This was really helpful. Thanks for posting it!

  • do yo know the nabieva worth? is layaout tkachev.

  • @diegokace G

  • Nyeste/Liu reminds me the strange kind of Deltchev That Semenova does, Doesn't it? Why Semenova's is a Deltchev, not a "Straddled Gienger", as it seems to be?

  • @ethakimm

i think the Deltchev was created before the Gienger, so it had a different name

  • seems like all the girls today do geingers or jaeger style releases, we never see any of the most difficult ones (like tucks over the bar etc, twists beside/over the bar) even from the best bar workers in the world today.

  • @eiffel65isawesome

It would be too difficult to not get a 'lack of height' deduction.

  • @eiffel65isawesome Well i agree with you there. I know France does the Def, but i mean, they can string a lot of ono's and healy's and get a connection bonus for it. A lot of gymnast are getting connection bonuses for stringing pirouettes together. but i agree with you there.

  • Hi This was fantastic.I was wondering if I would be able to get a copy of this, putting together info for my gymnasts on releases. Thanks in advance.

  • that wuz sooooo awesome

  • do u know how much Tatiana Nabieva's toe on sole circle to hecht strait is worth? Has it been evaluated yet?

  • @missmouse35 Yes, it's a G skill, the Nabieva. =D

  • what song is this?

  • 2:10 was cool when Ling Jie caught the bar along with the music.

  • If it is Allison Buckley, Marta Karolyi really needs to send her to a World Cup meet or something like that. I'm pretty sure that you can get moves named after you there too, right?

I say this because that toe on counter kim needs to be noticed; it's AMAZING!

  • You rock!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • it's wonderful !

  • 0:59... that is a fantastic skill.

  • i'd eventually understood what is a gienger! :)

  • The first realease move is now a C.

  • that Def/Hristakieva looks amazing!!! unbelievable!!

  • what does difficulty: - mean?

  • @LMA629 it was not in the CoP

  • Cassie Whitcomb has done a piked Ricna in training.

  • what does it mean when there is a - instend of the ranking of the release? does it mean that the move isn't in the code of points?

  • the shushunova doesnt really look like a g level skill

  • @LMA629 Because a blind change and a Markelov by themselves aren't all too difficult, but when you try to connect the two elements it's a whole different story.

  • @markedexclusive if u do a blind into the Markelov does it have the same difficulty value as doing it from a front giant?

  • @KVisMILTON For women, it would probably be the same difficulty of a G. Though doing it from a giant and then doing the twist in flight is harder. Did you see Danell Leyva's new high bar routine? He does the full twist from a giant.

  • @markedexclusive oh hey hes my best friend!!

  • @wwwmarinacom Hope your best friend goes to the Olympics!

  • @LMA629 Have you seen anyone copy it since? She makes it looks easy.

  • 2:32-2:42

  • great montage! thanks for sharing!

  • Has anyone ever done a Jaeger through to Pak Salto?

  • yeah people do it all the time

  • Amy Chow did a piked Jaeger to a straddle Pak in her 2000 Olympic routine.

  • He Kexin does a Layout jaeger to a Pak!

  • back when it was the 2001-2004 COP there was something called a super E, i just learned this and was wondering if you could make a montage of super E moves. thanks!

  • What is the song's name?

  • Comment removed

  • Aren't Rays now D's not E's?

  • Yes, they are, this video was posted before the Code Updates

  • Why does the piked deltchev not have a letter grade?

  • Also Liu Xuan's one-armed skill should have been recognised for E or F difficulty.

Anyway, apart from Liu Xuan, I did not see any of other girls are able to perform this skill, which could proof how great Liu Xuan is.

  • It definitely was difficult but the judges apparently didn't want to encourage female gymnasts to perform the one-armed giant so they brought the difficulty down which is why we probably don't see girls performing it today, it's not worth the effort. I think her one-armed giant was only credited a C.

  • @Richifaye They purposely downgraded it to discourage gymnasts from doing it, because they think it is a dangerous move likely to dislocate a shoulder. No gymnasts do it because it isn't worth it; they can get the difficulty elsewhere without risking the disapproval of the judges or the danger of dislocating their shoulder.

  • @Richifaye The FIG didn't want to encourage female gymnasts from doing it, that's why the 2009 CoP downgraded it even more to a B. What a waste :(. She was AWESOME.

  • Amazing performed .

Chinese girls are really talent to perform Jaeger, as all kinds of Jaeger are performed by Chinese.

Mo huilan is amazing, and Zhou Duan. Any reason Zhou Duan's release got unclear difficulty value?? it should got difficulty in H group.

  • Amazing, I love the music!

    Excellent job MostepanovaFan

  • Why isn't the Bhardwaj in the code? Then I realized, all of the moves are done on the high bar... XD

  • aww no shaposhnikova?

  • Shaposhnikova isn't a relase, but a transition

  • Shaposhnikova is a release AND a transition.

  • Great video montage!

  • Great vid as always, Mostepanovafan.

    WHHOOOA!!!

  • What? There's a release move that's only B? I thought they were all D and above! Are they still rated that?

I'd have said some of those are impossible if someone had told me about them, without the videos. Amazing!

  • i thought 3:40 is an F. Toe on sole circle to hecht piked. it's in the new code.

  • It was downgraded in the 2009 code

  • what are the letter rating for dificulty?

  • A 0.1

    B 0.2

    C 0.3

    D 0.4

    E 0.5

    F 0.6

    G 0.7

  • What is this music called? I really like it!

  • Adiemus by Enya

  • this is an amazing video...great songs and great info...the release moves are amazing!!!!!!!

  • whoever made this excellent job very thorough! i didnt even kno it was possible for a skill to have a difficulty of G!!!

  • Speaking of possibilities, is it likely female gymnasts will eventually perform elements such as the Kovacs, Kolman, Cassina, etc on the uneven bars? Mo Huilan already set precedent by introducing the Gaylord I in international competition.

  • i don't think so(maybe one or two), only because women are not allowed to do empty swings. where as men can do giants into a release.

  • Is it possible to do a hindoff , ricna, the toe on tkachevs, and the tkachevs facing away from the low bar.

  • I've never seen it done before but most likely, I'm not exactly sure why gymnasts don't train it that way but they just don't.

  • ik. but it is possible.

  • Well Elena Shushunova did a a full twisting Tkachev facing away from the low bar. Back in the 1980's, it was common to do the Tkachev facing away from the low bar. But nowadays gymnasts face the low bar when performing those moves a lot of times to connect with a transition for bonus points.

  • Thanks.

  • that straddles tkachev is hiiigh

    and I agree with Hersheysd..

  • Are you kidding me? A regular piked, one-arm piked, and layout gienger's are all the same value? Why bother doing something more difficult then?

  • If a gymnast could do both then they may do the one arm and the layout.

  • bardzo fajny filmik

  • then that means there not in the code anymore b/c they can be performed mostepanovafan are you sure that those 80's move's are still in the code?

  • Yes the 80s skills still are, i have the current code and the skills are still in the code.

  • difficulty: -

whys some like that? is it the really hard moves that cant be graded?

  • they probably dont know wht the difficulty is.

  • This music makes want to die

  • how come some of these skills are in the code of points when some of them cant be executed like belly beats

  • because back inthe old days like the 50s 60s 70s and 80s the bars were more closer than they are today

  • 1:48 is sicckkk!!!!! 1.5 twists!!! 2:30 is cool too

  • y isnt there a rating on some of the elements?

  • 3:37 is an F

  • It was downgraded to an E in the 2009 code of points

  • are you sure? in the 2009-2012 cop it is under the f/g column.

  • @MostepanovaFan What music did you use here?

  • 1:15 That's weird that they haven't given a piked delchev an element. Well, it should be an E.

  • Is a Ricna the same as a Piatti in Men's Artistic Gymnastics?

  • In 2008 the piked TKachev was a D?

  • It's a D in the Men's COP, in the women's, it's an E

  • It's called Adiemus

  • Is it just me or does Shavahn Church perform her own skill in a more laid out position than piked?

  • This music is just wonderful. so relaxing

  • Where does Liu Xuan do the piked jaegar 1/2? Do you have a link to the video? It looks like she combines it.

  • if you have time ,could you please make a guide for the pourette/ stalder circle elemnts on UB, I find them very confusing

    thank you very much

  • Awesome. A little more time to read the names and descriptions of the skills would be helpful though!

  • how would you pronounce tkachev?

  • tuh KAHT chev

  • What's the diffrence between what Ma Yanhong is doing and what Nicole Pechanec is doing?

  • Nicole Pechanec is clear, body doesnt touch the bars, Ma Yanhong is "Hecht"ed with the bar.

  • Oh...you're right! Thanks.

  • You're very welcome

  • i am so happy that you posted this...bars is my favorite and i'm so glad someone took the time to break down all the release moves in the new code of points...very well done and is now one of my favorites

  • I probably pressed the pause button about 20 times to digest the name of the skill and then see its performance. And some of them I watched more than once.

This was really helpful to me. And I bookmarked it for future reference!

Great music by the way. Thanks for all the work in putting this together.

  • i thought the highest was e's then super e's. please explain, thanks!

  • That was what it was in the old code with the "10" now with the new code it goes up to a G. I hope that helps =)

  • what's a hop full?

    Please respond back

  • A hop full is like a front full turn on bars only with a hop or release. Elise Ray does it twice I think.

  • whats a hop full worth?

  • It is a D

  • Why in the pikel deltchev (1:14) there isn't the difficulty?

  • It is not in the code yet

  • Thank you =)

  • El mejor resumen que pudieron hacer

  • the song is adiemus

  • What is this song? I remember it from high school chorus and I need to know the title!!

  • the song is called "Adiemus"

  • I love how most of the hardest elements like the E's, F's, and G's are from the 70's and 80's. Haha!

  • all F's and G's ecxept the shushunova were done from the 90's onwards, after they seperated the bars more

  • 0:51

  • 2:34

  • Mukhina's is still the bomb after all these years.
