Looking trhough the CoP... Does anyone know who performed following release skill: "Swing fwd and salto bwd stretched with 1½ turn (540°) to hang on HB"? It must be HUGE and I can't think of anyone doing it, but on the other hand, why would it be in the CoP if nobody ever did it?
@crazynightsinparis Imogen's is piked while Nastia's is layout. They do look the same when you first see them but if you watch carefully you'll see that Nastia keeps a straight body while she's on the air and pikes before she catches the bar while Imogen has a pike position during the whole move

I must say I didn't realise there were so many release moves for the uneven bars I think I knew about four of these. I also didn't realise Beth Tweddle has a move named after her.
Your videos are amazing! What is the name of this song? I see the name of the artist, but not the title of the song. Thanks for making awesome videos!
It seems like all the skills the gymnasts do today are just a few different ones that they all do over and over, all of them. They don't do all the hard old ones that looked so cool and different. Now they mostly all do the same skills.
The reason we don't see the complicated releases (Gaylord, Def, etc) as often is because the true source of difficulty on UB, with this CoP, is pirouettes. Why risk coming off on a release when you can do a string of Healys, Onos and Stalders, which is more valuable?
@TsubasaDreams I know France is big on doing def's. But i mean, today gymnastics focuses more on difficulty and leaves the execution looking like crap. I mean its like Beth Tweddle and Nastia. Beth was going for bigger moves, but getting bigger deductions for them. And Nastia (great gymnast) but she was getting basically deductions in almost every move she did. Its like execution really doesnt matter to them, all they care about is how difficult they can get their routine.
@brycehelmer I don't really understand your comparison between Tweddle and Nastia. Tweddle had late pirouettes and a higher D-score than Nastia. You have to remember that the judges see it from the side so tiny leg separations that we can see in slow motion or from the front may not be seen by the judges. If you really want to compare execution, watch Mustafina or Nabieva. Helicopter legs, bent knees, horrible form in general. Mustafina has no business doing 3.5s and Amanars.
@TsubasaDreams I wasnt comparing them. I was using them as examples, but i wasnt comparing them. If you think i was, then i apologize for confusing you.

honestly i love your videos but why do you put like well religious music almost on your videos it makes them painful to watch put some new music like enrique iglasias or katy perry we dont want this weird music on it thumbs up so MostepanovaFan can see this!
@Irishpeacegirl it will never be in the code because it involves standing on the bar, which is illegal in womens gymnastics because it breaks the movement of swing movements. BTW it is not the hardest release i have ever seen elena mukhianas release was a korbut flip with a full twist
does anyone ever do a volpi anymore? that looks cool, would be awesome to connect into piked gienger. or a vault with 1/2 turn in flight in rev./opposite direction into piked gienger. also i think straddled tkachev and piked jaeger would be great pair of release skils
I'm kind of surprised that the Caslavska is rated so high. To me, the Shushunova looks like a half pirouette into a Khorkina. That skill performed by Wu Jiani, is it no longer used because it's hard to perform without belly-beating which is no longer allowed or is it not seen because of the low difficulty rating? I think a full-twist would look nice on that and make it a, say, E skill?
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 - belly beating is impossible for the women today, never mind being dissallowed.....the bars are so far apart they'd need to be 8 feet tall to perform it !!!!!!
@garyj79 No, I know that. I just mean that is Wu's skill only able to be performed after a belly beat? They have to be able to swing hard enough for that skill if the Khorkina is possible.
@cleicsioluek - im sure a few of the girls/women would be able to do it...provided they have the room to generate speed thru the swing into them....maybe a free hip into Kovac or Kolman? men dont have to tackle the lower bar when swinging of course.....
I think i heard somewhere that liu xuan's 1 armed gienger was given such a low value because they wanted to discourage other girls from doing it since it was dubbed too dangerous
Nyeste/Liu reminds me the strange kind of Deltchev That Semenova does, Doesn't it? Why Semenova's is a Deltchev, not a "Straddled Gienger", as it seems to be?
seems like all the girls today do geingers or jaeger style releases, we never see any of the most difficult ones (like tucks over the bar etc, twists beside/over the bar) even from the best bar workers in the world today.
@eiffel65isawesome Well i agree with you there. I know France does the Def, but i mean, they can string a lot of ono's and healy's and get a connection bonus for it. A lot of gymnast are getting connection bonuses for stringing pirouettes together. but i agree with you there.
If it is Allison Buckley, Marta Karolyi really needs to send her to a World Cup meet or something like that. I'm pretty sure that you can get moves named after you there too, right?
I say this because that toe on counter kim needs to be noticed; it's AMAZING!
Mostepenovafan, would you happen to know the release skill done by ludmilla tourisheva? and ecaterian szabo? 1.5 twists above the bar? not a Def, but still twists.
@LMA629 Because a blind change and a Markelov by themselves aren't all too difficult, but when you try to connect the two elements it's a whole different story.
@KVisMILTON For women, it would probably be the same difficulty of a G. Though doing it from a giant and then doing the twist in flight is harder. Did you see Danell Leyva's new high bar routine? He does the full twist from a giant.
back when it was the 2001-2004 COP there was something called a super E, i just learned this and was wondering if you could make a montage of super E moves. thanks!
It definitely was difficult but the judges apparently didn't want to encourage female gymnasts to perform the one-armed giant so they brought the difficulty down which is why we probably don't see girls performing it today, it's not worth the effort. I think her one-armed giant was only credited a C.
@Richifaye They purposely downgraded it to discourage gymnasts from doing it, because they think it is a dangerous move likely to dislocate a shoulder. No gymnasts do it because it isn't worth it; they can get the difficulty elsewhere without risking the disapproval of the judges or the danger of dislocating their shoulder.
@Richifaye The FIG didn't want to encourage female gymnasts from doing it, that's why the 2009 CoP downgraded it even more to a B. What a waste :(. She was AWESOME.
Speaking of possibilities, is it likely female gymnasts will eventually perform elements such as the Kovacs, Kolman, Cassina, etc on the uneven bars? Mo Huilan already set precedent by introducing the Gaylord I in international competition.
Well Elena Shushunova did a a full twisting Tkachev facing away from the low bar. Back in the 1980's, it was common to do the Tkachev facing away from the low bar. But nowadays gymnasts face the low bar when performing those moves a lot of times to connect with a transition for bonus points.
i am so happy that you posted this...bars is my favorite and i'm so glad someone took the time to break down all the release moves in the new code of points...very well done and is now one of my favorites
I probably pressed the pause button about 20 times to digest the name of the skill and then see its performance. And some of them I watched more than once.
This was really helpful to me. And I bookmarked it for future reference!
Great music by the way. Thanks for all the work in putting this together.

I probably pressed the pause button about 20 times to digest the name of the skill and then see its performance. And some of them I watched more than once.
This was really helpful to me. And I bookmarked it for future reference!
Great music by the way. Thanks for all the work in putting this together.

what's a hop full?
Please respond back
paxoutfools 2 years ago
A hop full is like a front full turn on bars only with a hop or release. Elise Ray does it twice I think.

I love how most of the hardest elements like the E's, F's, and G's are from the 70's and 80's. Haha!
12bmills 2 years ago 2
all F's and G's ecxept the shushunova were done from the 90's onwards, after they seperated the bars more
