This last track on the LP provides a sobering denouement for "Fire" courtesy of Buck's easy vocal delivery, the under appreciated Allen Lanier's light fingered approach to the keyboard playing and the paranoid/misleading nature of the words underscored by the varied & demiurgic musical structure. JAGaleaffan seamlessly melds the song's cryptic lyrical musings appropriately with the Bondian world of duplicitous dealings in this quality video of Fritz Langian calibre style, editing & delivery.
Although "Fire of Unknown Origin" turned out to be a less expansive & ambitious album than producer Martin Birch's previous Cult Creation; "Cultosaurus Erectus" { mostly at the behest of commercial viability obsessed executives at Columbia }, this record still delivered a totally original & versatile effort that was enhanced by repeated listens & the Cult's Counter intuitive Creative processes: layered playing, vague, elusive, yet powerful lyrics,Concepts & pretensions to Pearlman's writings.
The solo is the the greatest part of this one. Apparently this was another of the songs made for the 'Heavy Metal' movie soundtrack which didn't get used in the movie along with 'The Pact'. Which is a good track too.
That's also one of Donald Roeser's finest and all too brief guitar solo's. I could listen to that 30 seconds or so over and over again (and frequently do!) The man's touch is just sublime...never wastes a single note.
You know, I met that Donald Roeser guy in his Hotel room in Trinidad. He was playing a Backpacker. Then, he told my wife and I, "I'll meet you in the lobby later, I have to turn into Buck Dharma.
I was thinking, "yeah, right, you WISH you were that good!" :-)
Going to see Blue Oyster Cult on July 21st. Can't wait to see Belleville on flames with Rock' and Roll!!

Bond sure had special options in his cars. Spy who loved me had to be the best. Where can i get a chick magnet like that?

@Drizzlerman Yeah instead they used lame ass Journey and other non heavy metal bands. BOC would have made that movie much better and easier to watch.

I know "Don't Turn Your Back" almost made the Hard Core Fan show in Hoboken ;last year. We got Arthur Comics, instead (nothing wrong with that!).
You know Buck has to love this if he was considering it for the Hardcores. One of my faves, too
