With all of the proof and archeological evidence that we now have one has to just be plain DUMB to be an atheist. The "null" hypothesis is itself "nullified." Saying that "atheism" is null until proven otherwise, it doesn't affect the truth of whether atheism is true or not. If I told you "my mom is an old woman living in New Zealand," would you simply don't believe me until proven that my mom is an old woman living in New Zealand? Would the truth of "my mom" be "null" until evidence shows? (I.e. you see pictures of my mom, New Zealand memorabilia, etc.) Point is truth is exclusive from a "null" position.
Believing nothing exploded and created everything cannot be the null hypothesis, otherwise demonstrate in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information theory or anywhere else in the cosmos where this is evident. If not, then this cannot be the null hypothesis no matter how many times athiests claim it to be. The null hypothesis MUST be based on what we observe to be the default.
(And no, virtual particles are not the answer as a vacuum is not empty.)

Therefore the burden of proof is not on the theist as the theist has observable experiences and science to suggest that something makes something else. The point is not who is being honest, but who is declaring a correct null hypothesis. As the null hypothesis is that a creator created everything, the burden is on you.

I don't have a problem with Buddhism. For one they don't try to shove it up everyones ass, and to just be your own person and find your own way in life. They care for the planet and strive to be one with nature. It's a philosophy not a true religion, there's a big difference. I much prefer that over christianity, not that I would go that far.

I'm not here to argue. I got lucky I was at the death bed of a Saved Christian. I wasn't saved at the time. I felt Gods spirit in the room. It was euphoric.

@ProDegiaque Reincarnation is a part of many Buddhist sects, but not necessarily all of them and whether or not you believe in it as something metaphysical, when you look at the concept of reincarnation from a purely practical stand point it serves a purpose. Where the Buddhist either does the right things for the right reasons or they'll pay a karmic price. Much like Christians have heaven & hell. Again, not all Buddhist are that concerned about reincarnation and not doubt some even deny it
Sorry to correct the video, but Buddhism is NOT a belief in a theistic god or any supernatural being and as such have no "Burden of proof" to meet. The Buddha himself rejected metaphysical speculation as a matter of principle, and his teachings focused entirely on the practical ways to end suffering.
@coyoteself Actually Theravada Buddhism maintains the belief in reincarnation and levels of karma based reincarnate forms. Wiki has a decent summary of the six realms. They do not believe in a God or supernatural being but they do have many aspects that still require the burden of proof. Buddhism is very practical and people are held responsible for there actions and judgements which is why I prefer it over any other religion. Golden rule at its finest.

The problem with those studies is that they tend to run counter to BOTH, theistic and atheistic beliefs of the afterlife, or lack of. But for those who do believe in reincarnation, to them, the Burden of Proof has been met.

The "null" hypothesis is itself "nullified." Saying that "atheism" is null until proven otherwise, it doesn't affect the truth of whether atheism is true or not. If I told you "my mom is an old woman living in New Zealand," would you simply don't believe me until proven that my mom is an old woman living in New Zealand? Would the truth of "my mom" be "null" until evidence shows? (I.e. you see pictures of my mom, New Zealand memorabilia, etc.) Point is truth is exclusive from a "null" position.

Believing nothing exploded and created everything cannot be the null hypothesis, otherwise demonstrate in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information theory or anywhere else in the cosmos where this is evident. If not, then this cannot be the null hypothesis no matter how many times athiests claim it to be. The null hypothesis MUST be based on what we observe to be the default.
(And no, virtual particles are not the answer as a vacuum is not empty.)

We do have evidence, observations and can test "something creating something else". That is therefore the null hypothesis.
In essence, the burden of proof lies on atheists to disprove God.

Therefore the burden of proof is not on the theist as the theist has observable experiences and science to suggest that something makes something else. The point is not who is being honest, but who is declaring a correct null hypothesis. As the null hypothesis is that a creator created everything, the burden is on you.

I don't have a problem with Buddhism. For one they don't try to shove it up everyones ass, and to just be your own person and find your own way in life. They care for the planet and strive to be one with nature. It's a philosophy not a true religion, there's a big difference. I much prefer that over christianity, not that I would go that far.

I have read several studies done by scientists. Everyone of them admits man can't create life. So who created it. For those that say the earth is older then the bible says. Or what about dinosaurs. In Genesis the Bible states that God made the earth void. If that's the case. What was there before?

@ProDegiaque Reincarnation is a part of many Buddhist sects, but not necessarily all of them and whether or not you believe in it as something metaphysical, when you look at the concept of reincarnation from a purely practical stand point it serves a purpose. Where the Buddhist either does the right things for the right reasons or they'll pay a karmic price. Much like Christians have heaven & hell. Again, not all Buddhist are that concerned about reincarnation and not doubt some even deny it

Sorry to correct the video, but Buddhism is NOT a belief in a theistic god or any supernatural being and as such have no "Burden of proof" to meet. The Buddha himself rejected metaphysical speculation as a matter of principle, and his teachings focused entirely on the practical ways to end suffering.

@coyoteself Actually Theravada Buddhism maintains the belief in reincarnation and levels of karma based reincarnate forms. Wiki has a decent summary of the six realms. They do not believe in a God or supernatural being but they do have many aspects that still require the burden of proof. Buddhism is very practical and people are held responsible for there actions and judgements which is why I prefer it over any other religion. Golden rule at its finest.

@therabbithole999 There have been some interesting & legitimate studies about reincarnation or past lives using Regression Therapy. The problem with those studies is that they tend to run counter to BOTH, theistic and atheistic beliefs of the afterlife, or lack of. But for those who do believe in reincarnation, to them, the Burden of Proof has been met.
To me, reincarnation really doesn't matter. It's how we live our life this moment & that we try to do the right things, for the right reasons
