  • He said on one interview tape that you can find here on YT that he does not conform to any religion, but he 'thinks that it can help people' and that he understands why people go to it. He's obviously had a mjor revelation since then though.

He's a strange guy Frusciante (in a good way) he's a pretty hard person to understand, he literally lives for music, its unbelievable how much devotion he has to it.

  • i'm glad he speaks out his ideas and what he thinks about stuff. i always learn something from that. not by just blindly applying what he says in my own way of thinking and living, but after i proccess them, i find myself agreeing and feeling happy for finding answers and nice ways to live and think. im happy to live in the same era with this man:) at least he helps me see things differently! best person to speak with imo..

  • An inspirational musical soul.....his life (as known to us, the public) and his music fill us with the hope and courage of being true to oneself....be it the highs be it the lows!

Waiting for the next record since we heard The Empyrean for the 500th time....

    Frusciante Forver!

  • John is truly a genius of his time.. like no other, he is his own entity! Thank you john!

  • I really love the whole record from beginning to end too!

  • Does anyone have any idea what is an organized religion, or at least one practiced by at least a few people, that forbids publicly speaking about it?

  • i think it is just his own personal beliefs. Many people believe that every one has their own very personal spiritual journal and its something between you and your creator (some call him God), and its not something you can really communicate verbally to other people without completly scrambling the message.

  • i could listen to him talk for hours.

  • I could too. I really want to go to santa monica to meet him some day

  • Dude!

    Thnk you for sharing this!

    JF for life! =)

  • awesome share dude! *winkerz*

  • Rawrr!! ;)

  • I've been looking for an interview on this album, thank you!!!!

  • Fantastic album, very unique, I'm beginning to like his solo work more than his work with the chili peppers

  • A humble guy. Great interview. Thank you rhcpjfguitar.

  • you are very welcome.

  • he is for sure a balanced musician but also evolving <3 I dont know how else to express it...

  • He should be associated as a musician or artists, he's a prophet the work has yet to recognize.

  • He is way more then a great guitarist... hes fckin amazing... when he sings i can actually feel it, his songs are the only ones that can make me cry and high.

Most respectable person iv ever known, i love him, his influences on me are all over the place, music, view of life.. everything

  • John has been through so much in his life that for him to not consider himself to be a spiritual person would show a large lack of growth and understanding on his part.

Whether he is spiritual or not, religious or not, the face is that he is one of the best and most humble guitarists out there and I am very thankful to have his music in my life.

His lyrics are some of my favorite poetry. Not too abstract so that his concepts are unable to be grasped, but enough to apply to all listeners.

  • What if he were an atheist? I consider that exceptional growth and understanding of the world. I realize from this interview that he's not an atheist. Are you saying there's a different between being religious and spiritual?

  • yes there is a difference between religion and spirituality. i'm a spiritual atheist

  • a spiritual atheist? sounds interesting, please elaborate

  • Well the best way to explain it would be to talk about Alcoholics Anonymous. I've never been in the program but basically they say that a person doesn't have to believe in a God to be spiritual, they just have to believe in something greater than themselves. So my spirituality or higher power is probably the inherent goodness in everyone/ the complexity, beauty of nature. kind of vague i know...

  • totally agree

  • Believing in a higher power that is more than oneself might be considered by some as believing in "God." God doesn't necessarily mean Yahweh or anything.

  • i like your comment, the nature of spirituality is vague to us anyway.

  • thanks .....

  • @snarby21 You mean you believe in a higher force but you're a churchgoer? And it's not necesarily called God?

  • @TXF1990 *not a churchgoer*

  • yeah. i don't believe in a creator and i don't go to church

  • @snarby21 That's sort of like me, I do believe in a force that helps you find your way but I don't worship it, and I don't believe one single "thing" created life.

  • read the new edtion od guitar world magazine... if you read his interview this one is almost the exact same

  • i think that company owns music rader or the other way round so they just printed this interview with a few changes

  • That was an amazing recording process·$%·$&%43

  • John, is a spirtualist. He believes in after life, a life before, life again, cycles, and a spiritual GOD, call it whatever you want but the song "GOD" is about a creator. So overall you cant say hes atheist or agnostic.

    haha

    hes so cool

  • john's own personal spirituality is probably the world's most perfect religion

  • hes pretty cool but not perfect

  • oh i definitely agree. i think i meant his constant religious practice of playing music, and how engages both hemispheres of the brain, and the body and the emotions. his spiritual, open minded philosophy comes through in his music, but you never hear him explicitly say it outright, until you hear an interview. i think the religion (or personal spirituality) of being, feeling, doing, and creating is the best one and it brings people to life the way john frusciante is alive and creating.

  • @AtLeastIGotChicken1 nobody is perfect

  • @HuckleberrySlim I bet he would strongly disagree with that.

  • does he say "motown like where they recorded all that shit..." at 6:42?

  • he is a bad ass

  • well he said "my spiritual beliefs" so he may not even be particularly religious. maybe he just believes what makes sense to him

  • what religion doesnt allow you to talk about it?

or is it like - whats the first rule of fight club... dont talk about fight club!

but whatever, i love this guy!

  • hahaha good one!!!!!

  • btw, speaking about religion offends people. So really its just out of the respect of himself, and others.

Id do the same. I know christians who refuse to talk about religion to just avoid argument.

I love this guy as well.

  • Language is nothing more than symbols meant to communicate ideas, maybe John feels that his actions and music say something more meaningful than any explanation with words alone could approach.

    I don't know...I do love this album!

  • What religion is that?

  • omg thank you for putting this up- so deep

  • This is great. Thanks for posting.

  • you're welcome!

  • I WANT TO BUY IT! <3

  • oh my god

  • hes the man
