looks good. I hope they make more movies of this kind ...the ones that reflect upon the issues in community than the Mann movies with NRI love stories.
looks good, i hope they make more movies of this kind....something thats reflects upon the issues in our community. Instead of those Mann movies..with NRIs twist in them( guy living in India, girl from canada...or visa versa)
I want to see this movie! It's opening August 7th in the states but I wonder if there will be any way for us who live elsewhere (ie: other parts of Canada) to ever see it? Perhaps it will release on DVD in future?
my dads bff made itt but i dont think they its in theartes yet they are jsut showing it around.i know they showed it in europe and michigan and toledo.
This movie is gonna be tight. The trailer is like the best ever and like it sends chills down my back it is so intense which is y its gonna be a good movie as well. Plus anyone who complains about things in this movie should think about this
this has left me with tears in eyes becoz i cn see myself in this character somtimes you have to make compromises even against ur faith and traditions
The main character .. looks nearly identical to a friend of mine...Joe...who was a Sikh Punjabi guy...this actor is a dead ringer (no pun intended) for my now deceased friend..the resemblance is uncanny...I hope for his parents sake they don't see the film...but then again..I cant say I know how they will feel..for me it is eerie to say the least, but somewhat comforting to see the actor.who reminds me of my friend
Looks like a great movie........when is it being shown? how does one get a copy?
I saw this movie at a film festival and all I can say is wow. Sarab has really done an extraordinary job in making a film that really touches the viewer. I can't wait to watch it again.
why can't we get sikh actors? this guy seems like a random gora who didn't shave for like a week or 2. even the father has a totally fake beard. its hard to take pride, when its obviously just a performance by people who don't share the values.
calm down. Would you prefer a real Sikh cast who then cuts his hair for the movie? Wouldn't that make you complain even more? And who cares if the father's beard is fake, he did a great job acting in the movie. I'd rather have real acting than a real beard.
People like you will always find something to whine and complain about.
@gmustuk I agree, the only thing is, someone who would share the values of a real sikh would never cut his hair for his life, nonetheless a movie. Therefore, they needed someone who would. But again, I somewhat agree.
Sarab and his family are my neighbors and good friends. I love them dearly, and I'm so proud of his work. What a great tribute to their lives and their faith, and what an excellent message this sends. I loved the movie, I've seen it twice already!
In da trailer the guy shaved his beard already which is his hair.. So why is there so much focus on just getting a hair cut??.. By definition.. a sikh keeps uncut hair n that applies to every part of his body.. This is just one of the standards by which a sikh is defined n if you are contradicting with one of them.. u go against ur guru.. Just by lookin at the trailer i have this bad feeeling that they dont even realize wut a sikh is..
There are Sahajdhari Sikhs and Kesadhari Sikhs as well don't forget. Some people interpret 'uncut hair' to be hair on the head. He has decided to keep a short beard, doesn't make him any less Sikh. As a Sahajdhari he may not have put all the gurus teachings into practice yet. There are some Sikh men who will only keep their beard once they have taken amrit and been initiated as khalsa. Its all personal choice really
I dont think it is personal choice- the guru has defined it. The meaning of hair is to respect what god has given us. If you cut your hair, you disrespect god and people have bend the meaning to their own choice which is not right.
Much respect...i hate faggots roaming around with trimmed beards and wearing pags, smh fuckin idiots dont even know the concept of growing our hair...
hius father keeps all his hair, the son is more of a transitional character, so it would make a soft of sense that the character would already have his beard cut.
yeah the film looks brilliant, just dont like the scene where he cuts his sacred hair{kesh)over a poxy job!it sent a shiver down my spine!i hope he regrows his kesh in the end!overall it looks good!when is it out in england???does anyone know??
I fee you 100 Percent...one of my uncles has done the same thing, very shameful act....the funny thing is he was one of the top doctors of his community so he had nowhere up to go but he still cut it....since that day all respect has gone for him, how can a man wear his turban proudly for 30 some odd years and then just cut it to fit into society? shit is mindboggling how a 23 year old like me has more sense then a person who is above 50
it looks touching and like its gonna make me cry buh its so truee, us punjabis got good stories to tell, hopefully there will be many more punjabi movies coming out after this one on this subject and many more
this looks brilliant... it encapsulates the very thoughts that i myself have, being a sikh wearing a turban.. any more info on when/where this will be released?..
Great portait of young sikh and values to follow in sikhism. Three thumps up to Sarabjeet for making inspirational landmark movie for everyone to watch, learn and feel proud of being a sikh. God bless you.
Just saw the movie, Mashallah, touched by it....
