22 crashes in 19 years: What went wrong? PREM DHAKAL MY REPUBLICA
KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Two hundred and one persons have lost their lives in Nepal in 22 domestic plane accidents, including Sunday´s Buddha Air crash, since the country adopted Liberal Aviation Policy in 1992 to pave way for the emergence of private sector in domestic air transport.
Eighteen of the planes in the 22 accidents over the intervening 19 years were operated by private sectors.
It's too sad! I still wonder why there are such mountain flights organized for Tourists during rain season. It is Nepal Tourist Year 2011. This is not a good advertisement for Nepal as a tourist destination. Now soon rain season will be finish and the main tourist winter season starts. Nepal had 2 more crashes with all passengers and crew members lives lost in the recent 2 years. Soon no one dares to fly anymore.
Very old airplane... R.I.P for those who lost their life and I will not take those cheap airplane in Napal for sure.
