Most scenes look really good...but some don't. E.g. up to 1:07 it looks very professional. Good camera angles and the phone call was well done. But then something about the room scene starting at 1:08 just doesn't look right to me. I think it's the cameras perspective or something. 1:46 looks pretty good again. At 2:32 I'd say you used the smoke element a bit too much and I'd make the planes a bit bigger. Choppers and dust at 3:14 look great! Camera work at 3:57 is awesome. Overall pretty neat.
@Wuzzysbrand06 Thanks for your feedback, its nice to get some detailed opinions and I actually happen to agree with everything you just said! The lighting and soft focus might be what looks off about the living room scene. I will be working a little bit more on the film before I abandon it for another project!
I don't get it, you guys are really talented and ambictous, so why did you use the old redrock micro adapter that gives you a soft overall image when you could have used a letus och sgblade?
@AdmirSarajevo Basically because I own a Redrock adapter. I don't think the image is soft due to the adapter though since I just shot a film that came out perfectly sharp - I suspect our camera op didn't quite have the knack for setting focus on a shoulder rig
Visually impressive, heavily overgraded and dark but nice camera work (unfortunate dubbing). good first film though...not really a story :( previous comments must be friends or something because it seems like a mashup of random epic scene ideas than a film...sorry to be negative
@Lericopolde Thanks for the criticism :) The idea of the film was to be short and a bit of a "mashup", we wanted to make a short film to demonstrate our VFX skills rather then tell a story, the story was a bit of a side line as we had a small team, no budget and short time period :)
Also to add, the film was never originally this dark when we rendered it, youtube darkened it after we uploaded it :(
OMGWTFBBQ! This is amazing, already watched it 3 times, I cant believe the quality you have been able to produce, and really good soundtrack to. The only improvement I can think of is to add the Whilhelm scream when Jamie goes Rambo. You should upload a breakdown to some of the shots, I remember seeing early stages of the helicopters, would be really interesting to see the effects breakdown of the establishing shot of the war-zone :D
Just watched it again, lol. The helicopter shots of pompy worked really well, did you say they were static shots? Still think the sound design was awesome, normally I find the quality of things like footsteps and that kind of thing can really let down a student film and make it seem really amateurish, but this was great!
Overall the film is really good. However, where is the helicopter when you circle round that guy?

Awesome man, thought it was really good. Looked really professional. The sound design was great too, did you record the audio as you were filming?
You should attach it as a video response to my battlefield trailer, I think you'll get quite a lot of click throughs.
Nice work! :D
