Do you have any tips on remembering stroke order as well as properly writing Japanese characters? If so, I'd love to see a video on it as well as more useful tips to learning how to read, write and speak in Japanese.
@choukawaii4eva For the basic building components there's not much else to do then to learn them the hard way: Write it down. A lot. Until you couldn't forget it anymore.
Composite kanjis are usually easier - you just break it down to components and write them one after another (top->down, left->right).
I usually search for patterns even where noone teaches them. For example the top 4 lines of 楽(around 白) is written in the same order and direction as the bottom ones in 求。
I have one question for you, though. Do you (usually or always) follow stroke order for kanji, hiragana, katakana, etc. I do for a lot of kanjis but when I write in hiragana/katakana I don't always do because after I write the word it looks really messy. (in school, my prof was really stern about writing neatly! (O.O) Because I could never remember stroke order, I would NEVER volunteer to write on the chalkboard in front of the class lol.
@choukawaii4eva hi. hmm i always follow the strokes...cuz theyre the way they are since its how people back in the day thought was effective. hmmm i have to analyze it and tell you later!!XD thanks for your feedback to have you go write massively on the chalkboard one day!!XD
When I was learning Japanese in university, the textbook said that 吸う means "to smoke" like in タバコを吸う lol. It never said anything about "inhaling!" And the mistake you made with 叱る, I used to always get in trouble for stuff like that. Is it 帰る or 帰える? lol. (Don't worry, I know it's 帰る :)
@choukawaii4eva LMAO!!!! YOUR TEXTBOOK LOL thats so funny! we do use it for that of course but like its basically inhaling whatever that comes out of cigarrettes and thats why its smoking, it doesnt directly mean that haha funny!! yeahhh what we call ''okurigana'' right?? its something that you have to remember and it was obviously in this vid that i dont use the kanji usually LOL! <lazy
Thanks for the lesson. I knew 呼ぶ and 吸う. (I thought you we're gonna say 'suck' for 吸う :) )
It didn't know the rest so it's really useful. I did guess 吠える although I've never seen it, maybe because it's not 常用漢字 (at least according to my dictionary). But it's easy to remember, so yay!
@HypX2 omg you are so smart!! i actually picked it from out of jouyou kanji thinking that it might be a good idea lol i NEVER thought someone would point it out lol!! im so impressed!!! yeah i thought about 'suck' but then i didnt have a good example LOL! コメントありがとうございます!!
I have a question that I've been wondering about for a while. When Japanese write kanji by hand, they often simplify them by omitting or merging strokes to make it easier and faster to write. This seems especially true with complex kanji with over 10 strokes. Is this simplified writing method taught in school or do people just pick it up by themselves. Is there a "correct" simplified form or do people develop their own style?
There's actually a free program that shows you the strokes and teaches you all the readings of over 1,000 kanji. It's called zKanji if anybody wants to google it and dl it.
Another informative video, Yoko. I knew three of the four kanji readings well. I've seen 吠える before, but forgot the reading since I don't see it that often. I love learning kanji, it's a lot of fun. :)
You say this is "kinda boring" and that you wanna be a better teacher? I refute! You make all the learning so much fun and I get a few chuckles/giggles out of it which is good enough in my book. I think you already make a great teacher! The lessons are helpful and informative, can't wait to see more! :)
nice,i like this.i have a good base of japanese language knowledge, but i haven't tackled kanji so much.the new expressions are fun and good to know too
