a planet that had no 'purpose' as it were, to serve humans in our existence does not equate to a universe without purpose. Purpose is something you attach to a thing based upon it's function. If the universe is constantly evolving, then evolution can be likened to it's purpose. Regardless of weather or not we still exist to evolove... It may just be then, that we are not a requirement for the universe to possess purpose.
