  • TBD - TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD

  • Probably one of the most phenomenal records ever made, nuff said!

  • Love the bass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @djoy126 if you've got a bass it's pretty easy, just start on fret twelve an work the pentatonic scale.... same scale ol Jimi played off of.

  • This is one album, where i can listen to EVERY track. The early 90's dominated in music. God I miss those days.

  • @ShowStoppa718 I KNOW RIGHT

Most albums I hate 1 or 2 songs but this one is 100% good..

  • @ShowStoppa718 here here....

  • the opening lick and just the whole progression on this song is off the charts!

  • I always wanted them to release this song

  • You don't expect it to get hype but it's so good.

  • Their best song! hands down!

  • my favorite track on this album..by hella far.

  • One of my favorite songs off this album. This should have got time on the radio. I love the progression of this song and how it builds towards the end. Awesome.

  • This is how I got through middle school. Fucking amazing tunes. This being the best on the album, IMO

  • man i had this on casset then cd then mp3. so i bought this album 3 times

  • this is how I go out tonight

  • They couldn't have known that they were creating the "Best of Live" while they were making this album..

  • Who needs Nirvana...one of the most overrated bands of all time. I HATE grunge but Live sure is pretty damn talented for me to make them the one exception.

  • @RonBurg92 ummmm...really? Look up the video for "Plateau" from the MTV Unplugged album. That entire concert is one of the most incredible pieces of live music ever recorded.

  • @kfortier5 uh... i wouldn't say that... :) Was pretty fucking good though.

  • @RonBurg92 LOL, grunge was the resurgence of rock n roll being about the music instead of the money, appeal, and women. Even though I will give women a pass in that category. Grunge was the 2nd best point in rock n roll next to the turn that the Beatles and The Velvet Underground took it.

  • @RonBurg92 I actually LIKE nirvana but they were NO musical geniuses. From a technical standpoint they were a good garage band. The good thing about Nirvana was that their music was breakthrough. Not that it was Good. At least from a musical standpoint.

But that's the great thing about music.. it doesn't have to be technically good to be Good. I love listening to Nirvana and i can deal with the fact that they're not genius.

  • @groovylocks they are genuis

  • effing love this track. still as sexy as it was a decade ago...

  • Live brings back so many good memories. I miss this kind of music, the caliber, the quality...good ol' days....

  • Always loved that baseline.

  • Deep and simple. Fucking masterpiece. You either get it or you don't. Not for the mainstream.

  • Is this the best album of all time?

  • This is one of their best songs and should have received some serious airplay. And you wonder why they say rock is dead when so called rock stations do not play this amazing music! It pisses me off!!!!

  • @nirvana609 With that course of thought, Live should have had every song get played on the radio....not a bad thing

  • @tcdahn7 I could not agree with more.

  • @tcdahn7 I could not agree more.

  • They were so far ahead of their time! Should definitly be up there in the historical rankings with Nirvana..

  • @CALTSM They blow suicide boy outta the water, Hell Foo Fighters are better than whiny suicide boy! No sympathy for idiots who set bad examples. Screw Nirvana , worse band ever signed.

  • @CALTSM Albeit for entirely different reasons...

  • @CALTSM the thing is.. they were BETTER (from a musical standpoint) than Nirvana. Both are wonderful to listen to and i agree.. i wonder why they never became huge. They were right in heat of the sound of the time. In canada they got pretty big.. but elsewhere apparently not so much..

  • great song - but, altogether a great album.

  • hottttt

  • Thanks. I've been wondering about that for sixteen years.

  • What does "Tbd" stand for?

  • @johnmckenna80 total bullshit, dude. they were writing about some guy who was telling them outrageous lies

  • @johnmckenna80 Heard it stood for Tibeten Book of the Dead.

  • it's pretty incredible how fucking amazing this song is and how few people even know it exists

  • priceless memories

  • the buildup on this song is sickening.building and building then an absolute explosion. truly one of their best.

  • probabley the greatest band ever not to recieve world wide superstardom, right up there witht the stones and the who in my book

  • One of the sexiest songs ever recorded, along with "Lakini's Juice".

  • I love this whole album!!!!!!!!!

  • gotta love that groan at 2:43

  • this is one of the most underrated bands of all time i think. not many people know it beyond what they play on the radio and even fewer know them at all. i wish all musicians could put meaning into their music, put their heart and soul behind it, like it means something and theyre not just in it to make a buck. like its supposed to be......

  • "Whoa!!!!" Shanah-la-na-la-na. DANGEROUS I used to listen to this song to help me go to sleep. Such a good cd, I wish they would come back to us, Live.

  • THIS IS MY FAVE SONG OFF THROWING COPPER! ::sighs:: Beautiful.

"If the feeling drops out of your voice; would you kindly pick it up."

A song for making love. This is just breaking my heart. WOW.

  • @GutterDoll138 yes!

  • @mustardgas2 :D

  • This song is about the Tibetan Book of the Dead (TBD), which is the Buddhist doctrine that requires that it be read aloud in the presence of the dying and the recently deceased in order to obtain final liberation and to avert the mind's descent back into Samsara (Hell).

  • well since you guys talkin about meanings n stuff... 'throwing copper' comes from those guys actually throwing copper. a ball bearing cannon, (a.k.a. a B.B. gun)... seen these guys in concert, they played this one and it was freakin awesome.

  • @losipoop Actually, given the album's fixation on death (this song, Lightning Crashes, the Dam at Otter Creek, etc) I would hazard a guess that 'throwing copper' is more a reference to myths of paying Charon, the ferryman to the underworld of greek mythos.

  • This whole album was great. Loved the mid 90's sound. Now-Pearl Jam, Incubus, Creed, Foo Fighters, U2

  • @spjfrat Honestly, What is so good about the Foo Fighters? I never liked them. Maybe Im missing something

  • this songs bass line is astoundingly funky and seems offbeat at first but it just makes the whole song

    love it!

  • The Outsider always sees, "too deep and too much." And like the lyrics say, do it long enough and you'll know longer need a book. That's when "the brain is dead and the mind has taken over." To hell with killing the television. Kill your concepts.

  • Astonishing how a song can evoke such a mood, brings me back in time instantly. Loved this then, love it now.

  • the story behind this song is the end of Aldous Huxley's life... where he had his wife sitting by his death bed side reading the Tibetan Book of the Dead to him as he went out "dressed in blue" while under the influence of LSD.

  • cool, thnx for adding that

  • This is such a great song. I think very few people remember it, the singles were so huge that the B-side treasure like this gets forgotten.

  • Wow, Throwing Copper really was the shit. Another great tune off this album I'd forgotten about, wow.

  • tibetan book of the dead is what this is about

  • An amazing song! Thanks for posting this!

  • This is a must have album, its one of the top albums of the 90's. Even this song is cool too.

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • cracking tune, thanks

  • i love this band.
