  • just never ever make that noise of scratching the can. It irritates me!?!?!?!?! ;(

    MUDDy

  • @darkstaraptorz OK I PROMISE!

I'LL BE GOOD FROM NOW ON. LOL.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann WHY DO YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS? ALSO GOOD WORK! I GUESS.

  • Has any one ever built a stirling engine that has enought power to pull a generator big enought to be of any use I have never seen one any were just tinty one good for nothing ?????????????

    MrTravis769 1 second ago

  • @MrTravis769 YES ABSOLUTELY. TESLA POWER IN CALIFORNIA USES HUGE SOLAR REFLECTOR DISHES TO COLLECT 4000 DEGREES ON THE HOT CAP OF LARGE STIRLING ENGINES. THEY PRODUCE 4 TIMES THE POWER THAN SOLAR PANELS OF THE SAME SIZE. STIRLING ENGINES ARE THE MOST EFFICIENT ENGINE TODAY. GM EVEN MADE A CAR WITH ONE. NUCLEAR SUBS AND POWER PLANTS USE STIRLING ENGINES TO PRODUCE POWER. THE HEAT FROM THE REACTORS ON THE HOT CAP AND THE WATER TO COOL THE COLD END. THAT'S WHY THERE IS A LAKE BESIDE THEM.

  • After looking at so many alternative displacer designs for my first attempt, I am VERY happy to see something so simple that I can literally build out of my trash can! Thanks for doing the ground work and for explaining it so well!

  • @gope23 ANYTIME, THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT. I PLAN ON A STEEL WOOL DISPLACER FOR THE NEXT ONE.

    MUDDy

  • how do you cut the can

  • @guineapig4444 TRIM THE LID OFF WITH A CAN OPENER, OR HACK SAW TO START OFF. THEN I USE TIN SNPIPS TO EVEN AND TRIM.

    MUDDy

  • scratch sound *goosebumps*

  • @CrismarkRock I HAD LITTLE NIGHTMARES ABOUT THAT SOUND WHEN I WAS A KID. IT WAS A GOAT TRYING TO CLIMB UP MY DADS' CAR. NOT SCAREY, BUT IT DID WAKE ME UP WITH GOOSEBUMPLES. THEN I WENT BACK TO SLEEP JUST FINE. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann

oh that was creepy man :o

  • @CrismarkRock THE BEST PART IS, OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE GROWN IMMUNE TO THAT SOUND. NOTHING HAS COME CLOSE TO THE DREAM. EXCEPT FOR MY FRIENDS WIFES' COOKING. I GOT GOOSEPIMPLES JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

  • Hey muddymuddymuddman,

I'm from the Netherlands and I was planning on making a stirling engine myself for the weekend, but I dont know what parts to buy/or get? so could you please make a small list for me? It's a project for school. Thanks a lot!

  • @rikgroenewegen I'm sorry, I meant, how do you make the displacer? I dont know if I missed it, but I couldnt find how to make the tin can displacer. I hope you can help me. Rik

  • @rikgroenewegen SORRY RIC, I MADE SOME OF THIS VIDEO SERIES OUT OF ORDER. THE DISPLACER BUILD IS IN ONE OF THE PART 2 OR 3. IT'S THE ONE WITH THE ROD STICKING OUT OF THE MIDDLE.

    MUDDy

  • @rikgroenewegen TO HELP YOU IN THE WEKEND BUILD... GO TO MY VIDEO, " EASY POP CAN STIRLING ENGINE". UNDER THE VIDEO IS A VIDEO RESPONSE. THIS MAN SHOWS HOW TO MAKE AN EASY STIRLING ENGINE. IT'S EASY AND FAST, AND HE SHOWS HOW TO BUILD IT IN 2 VIDEOS. IT IS AMAZINGLY SIMPLE.

IT IS THE SAME STIRLING ENGIONE THAT IS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO AT THE RESAURANT.

    MUDDy

  • @rikgroenewegen ANY CANS THAT ARE JUST A SMALL SIZE DIAMETER DIFFERENCE WILL WORK. THE PISTON WALL CAN BE JUST COPPER PIPE THAT DOESNT HAVE A SEAM INSIDE, AND AN EPOXY PISTON MOLDED FROM ANOTHER PIECE OF PIPE THAT SIZE. USE VEGITABLE OIL FOR A RELEASE AGENT. BELLOWS WORK JUST FINE, AND DIAPHRAGMS WORK WELL TOO. BELLOWS CAN BE MADE WITH 1 PIECE OF PAPER AND RUBBER CEMENT.

    MUDDy

  • @rikgroenewegen ANY CANS THAT CAN FIT CLOSELY INSIDE THE OTHER. AND SHORT PIECES OF COPPER PIPE WITHOUT A SEAM INSIDE. WET THE SIDES WITH VEGITABLE OIL FOR A RELEASE AGENT, AND CAST AN EPOXY PISTON. THEY WORK WELL. DIAPHRAGMS WORK WELL, AND BEST OF ALL IS THE BELLOWS. THESE CAN BE MADE WITH ONE PIECE OF PAPER AND SOME SILICONE RUBBER SEAL. TYPE PAPER ROCKET LAUNCHER IN THE SEARCH BOX. ENJOY.

THE 2 OUTER CANS CAN BE GLUED TOGETHER WITH SILICONE INSTEAD OF PRESSED.

    MUDDy

  • @rikgroenewegen HEY ,

JUST A NOTE..... I SPEND A FEW HOURS REVIEWING THE VIDEOS. PART 5 AND SIX COVER THE DISPLACER. IN 5 AND 6 I MADE ONE FOR THE SECOND MACHINE. LOOK FOR THE TUNAFISH CAN BEING PRESSED BY HAND. I HAD TO BUILD THE SECOND MACHINE BECAUSE I STARTED FILMING AFTER I HAD MADE THE FIRST DISPLACER. NOW THAT WASNT FAIR, SO I STARTED MAKING THE SECOND ONE JUST FOR THE DISPLACER BUILD. I WAS WONDERING WHY THE SERIES WAS SO LONG...LOL.

    MUDDy

  • Any news on the parts list? I am a teacher and REALLY want to build one for my class. Thanks. Great vids.

  • @mathboy1212 WOW!, THAT SLIPPED MY MIND FOR A WHILE. HERE AS A RED NECK I JUST CALL IT BLADES, ALTERNATOR, TOWER, WIRE, BATTERIES, GRID TIE, AC INVERTER, AND BREAKERS. AND FIGURE THE SUB PARTS LIST WHEN I START THE PROJECT. IT'S KIND OF BACKWARDS, I KNOW.

BUT I DID SAY I WOULD FIGURE THE PARTS LIST FOR YA. OK... I JUST WROTE IT ON MY WALL HANGING THINGS TO DO LIST. REGULAR TO DO LIST GET LOST, BUT NOT THE HANGING WALL LISTS. THEY WORK BY NOT GETTING COVERED UP. LOL.

    THANKS.

    MUDDy

  • 7:00 The hole is very tight. Lmao

  • @aneis5211993 LOL! MUCH BETTER.

    MUDDy

  • what is this starwars. (cool vid

    )

  • @DrinkMyGin EXTERNAL HEAT ENGINE.

  • can u please make me a list of things that i need to do this thanks

  • @janaankhan194 YA I REALY NEED TO DO THAT. THANKS FOR THE REMINDER.

    MUDDy

  • i bet you like the color green.

  • @sirjulez2004 YUP, BUT TEAL IS MY FAV. ACTUALLY 2 SHADES LIGHTER AND A BIT MORE BLUE.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann

well. then theres nothin wrong with that right. as long as we like something. nice vid, i made mine from your tutorial. !

  • @sirjulez2004 COOL , I HOPE IT KICKS OUT SOME NICE JUICE FOR YA. I BET IT'S MUCH QUIETER THAT THE COMMERCIAL JUNK.

    MUDDy

  • umm is this the easiest model to make?

  • @gaspowerrules No, I plan on showing an easy build that is more efficient as well. No press needed on the next build.

    muddY

  • Quick question, how do you empty the contents of a can but not remove the lid? do you slice them in half, empty, then stick the coat hangar through?

  • @battleshiparmorlord IT IS 2 CANS PRESSED TO GETHER AFTER MEASURING THEM TO THE LENGTH I NEED. ALSO COMPENSATING FOR THE OVERLAPPING OF THE TWO CANS. SAME THING ON THE MAIN PRESSURE/VACCUUM CHAMBER.

    THANKS.

    MUDDy

  • @7:20 look at where the surface meets the wall (by the tripod) and above the word 'you' ... Looks like he has an ant problem and they are coming out for a few...

  • @edufur OH THAT'S JUST JIMMY LA CUCHARACHA, AND THE WIFE THOUGHT SHE GOT RID OF HIM WHEN WE SPRAYED. HEE HEE! WWWEEE! THANKS FOR POINTING HIM OUT. I DIDNT SEE HIM IN THE EDITING STAGE OF THE VIDEO. IT'S LIKE A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE. MORE LIKE MELANCHOLY. LOL.

    MUDDy

  • what about depressing the displacer (kinda like a Hemi engine) would that increase performance/ speed of the engine?

  • @TheYoungTurds1 YOU WILL HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT ONE TO ME. DO YOU MEAN LIKE A SPRINGED VALVE OR LIKE IT RISES BY ITSELF WHEN THE PRESSURE IS LIFTED? YOU GOT MY CURIOSITY PEEKED. THANKS, I ALWAYS LIKE TO HEAR NEW IDEAS.

    MUDDy

  • never mind i just watched part 5 :D

  • @davofid COOL BUT WHAT WAS THE QUESTION? ANYWAY ASK IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann

Quick question, How did you attach the coat hanger to the displacer?

  • @dorantbb BEND THE END OF THE COAT HANGAR 90 DEGREES. SLID IT THROUGH THE 2 HOLES UNTILL IT STOPPS. EPOXEY BOTH HOLES AND A LITTLE EXTRA ON THE BENT END ( BOTTOM ).

    MUDDy

  • ok sounds good ill suscrbe in the mean time

  • @bbvigfh1 COOL BEANS. GLAD TO HELP.

    MUDDy

  • so is their an eaiser way i can make it

  • @bbvigfh1 COMING UP IN A MONTH, I WILL SHOW AN EASIER ENGINE TO BUILD. SO EASY EVEN A 7 YEAR OLD COULD DO IT. YOU WOULD DO VERY WELL AT 11.

    GLAD TO HAVE YOU ABOARD.

    MUDDy

  • Why do you type in all caps when you reply to comments?

  • @blahblahbanana1 IT'S EASIER ON MY EYES. AND IVE GROWN USED TO IT. IF I TRY TO ANSWER 40 MESSAGES IN LOWER CASE I GET SMALL HEADACHES. AND MY EYS ACHE.

PLUS IT HELPS IN DESCRIPTIONS LIKE 3/8THs INCH, MAGs , AND I DONT HAVE TO GO BACK AND CAPITALIZE ANY NAMES. LOL.

    MUDDy

  • what is this starling engine? im only 11 and love to make things like engines

  • @bbvigfh1 EXTERNAL HEAT ENGINE. IT CAN USE ANY FUEL TO RUN IT INCLUDING SUN LIGHT. THE STIRLING ENGINE IS THE MOST EFFICIENT ENGINE, BUT NOT THE MOST POWERFUL.

    MUDDy

  • can you solder rather than epoxy??

  • @tapiaxc YES YOU CAN USE SOLDER AND COPPER WIRE. THE COAT HANGERS ARE A BIT HARDER TO SOLDER. I WOULDNT TRY SOLDERING THE SEAM ON THE CHAMBER THOUGH.

    MUDDy

  • Holy Cow!! I searched for an "EASY" stirling engine. I've seen a Mercury space capsule that would prolly be easier to build. Anyway, I'll try to watch all the parts and I may try this. Thanx for the upload. I wear coke bottle glasses also, I only need them to see.

  • @clintonearlwalker HA HA I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE SODA CAN ENGINE FIRST. I HAVE A GOOD BUILD IDEA ON THE RED BULL CANS. AND AN ENGINE THAT USES DIRECT SUNLIGHT TO RUN.

WEARING GLASSES MEAN WE HAVE SEEN JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING AND ARE LOOKING CLOSER FOR WHAT WE MISSED.

    MUDDy

  • @muddymuddymuddmann Over the years I've developed the foolproof prceedure for building any project. 1st, drink some beer, 2nd, assemble tools (hammer, bigger hammer, more beer, etc.) 3rd, Build project, get about half way through and realize there is no way in hell it will work. 4th, read instructions 5th, Blame the instructions, vid uploader, neighbor, etc. cuz of course it is all their fault. Not recommended for auto brakes, or television repair.

  • @clintonearlwalker HAHA ! MR WALKER YOU ARE THE MAN

    MUDDy

  • you can use a grinding wheel if you retemper the tip with motor oil and a torch

  • @pigeonfancy WHEN I WAS A GOLDSMITH WE MADE SOME OF OUR GRAVERS LIKE THAT. MAKE THE SHAPE AND FINE SHARPEN THEM, THEN HEAT THEN TO A DULL CHERRY RED AND DUNK THEM IN HOT OIL UNTIL THEY COOLED OFF.

    MUDDy

  • @pigeonfancy OH YA AND THEN FINE SHARPEN THEM AGAIN ON A WET STONE.

    THANKS.

    MUDDy

  • "Look at those thick coke bottle glasses LOL" :)

  • @TriKri I DONT KNOW WHERE I GOT THOSE THINGS FROM, BUT THEY CAME IN HANDY ANYWAY.

MY USUAL ONES ARE JUST 1.00. BUT LOOKING AT THE SCRATCHES AND POINTS ARE HARD WITHOUT ANY GLASSES.. LOL

    MUDDy

  • or he could use a ruler

  • @8bennugent tHE NEXT ONE I DO I WILL DO THE WHOLE SERIES BEFORE PUTTING OUT THE FIRST ONE. SORRY GUYS.

I WILL ALSO MEASURE EVERYTHING FIRST.

ON THE LAST VIDEOS I INCLUDED MEASUREMENTS.

    MUDDy

  • That's such a detailed instruction! Thanks a lot. Could you please make a list of material needed to construct one please. We have to make one in a week and we're only high school students :((

  • uUH OH I NEED TO GET ON THE BALL. THERE IS ALREADY ONE WHO WANTED TO DO A SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT OF THIS ENGINE. BUT THE ENGINE IN MY VAN BLEW. AND I HAD TO REBUILD IT SO I WOULD HAVE TRANSPO. THAT SLOWED ME DOWN A LOT. IT RUNS REAL GOOD NOW . AND I NOW HAVE MY OWN INTERNET. GUESS YOULL BE SEEING ME A LOT MORE NOW.

    MUDDy

  • Thanks for making an instructional, can you tell me what brand of soop can you used for the displacer? i have much difficulty finding 2 cans that match, it will be easier if i know the brand of can to use.

thanks! looking forward to part 2.

  • Gosh once i peel the label off and wash them I forget the brand. But I have more in the food pantry. I've been a little busy all through the month of January, so the second part video is not finished yet..

    I'll add the info there.

    MUDDy

  • hi muddy , how r u? i remember i kept track of ur wind turbine series some time back. i was busy with bla bla stuffs , so i dint find much time. today when i came to ur profile i felt excited. so much green stuffs, just like this video. u rock. Good luck. By the way, good hammering with that spoon :)

  • Ya people used to make silver wedding rings out of silver coins just by tapping with a spoon on the side of the coin. A spoon is a good tool for moving metal Ive been fine but very busy lately. I need more time to finish these videos after work. Good to hear from you again.

    MUDDy

  • This is what i being dreaming for long, doing some backyard stuffs in useful ways, but my work takes a lot of my time away from me.

ur a great guy ! and ur my role model !

    never mind :)

  • Good to hear from you my friend. I know what you mean about time to do what you want. That's why I have been slow at getting the second part video out.

    Thanks for the admiration.

    MUDDy

  • Thanks for posting this

  • This is part a and the next one was part 1 .

so part 2 should be ready some time this week end. I feel like im dragging my feet with this. but time has been short since the new year started.

    thanks for the gratitude.

Many good things to you and yours.

    MUDDy

  • Thank you I'll be waiting for the next part.

    Have a nice weekend

    Gilberto

  • It still looks like a few more days. I'm anxious to finish this one because I think I can turn some good R P Ms with this new design.

    MUDDy

  • Mr Muddy, excelent video!! I'm expecting for the next videos. I'm trying to build a Stirling Engine following your indications to share with my kid, please share your knowledge with us as soos as possible. Regards,

  • OK but think saftey with the young minds and fire. I will dwell more on that in the videos to come. when a candle melts all the wax and gets hot, it starts to vaporize fast. and the whole candle burns like gasoline. I will go over saftey. I will have a video in about 2 or 3 days from now.

    MUDDy

  • great info, i'm sure the roaches are fascinated as well.

  • Only the little ones, the big ones are bored already.

    MUDDy

  • Interesting! Can't waitt to see the next videos.

MUDDy, you can't tell me that with all those electric and wind projects you do that you can't find a pair of wire cutters and a hammer !! LOL :)

Hey just asking, ...is that you playing the guitar on hte intro? Sounds good!

  • Ya thats me. mudmanrv wants to put some bass and drums to some new stuff I'm working on. I think it will be fun.

    MUDDy

  • Hey BEEFY DUDE, Good to here from you. Happy New Year. The next few videos are at a faster pace and more informative. Im looking to get them finished up real soon.

    MUDDy

  • Thanks..... Keep on sharing my friend

  • Always my friend, always. That's what makes it fun. Happy New Year.

    MUDDy

  • Muddy!

Ive been waiting for a how to video for a stirling engine. Thanks!

    Good stuff. 5/5 as always

  • Thanks for the interest. I cant wait for some more time to finish this one. I've been real busy since the new year.

    good to hear from you.
