This season marks the 50th anniversary of the PBA, and it looks more exciting than ever. The PBA has come up with some great events this season (like the Plastic Ball Championship).
The PBA is once again a respected organization, and people are taking notice. Just because you haven't, it doesn't mean that it can't be having success. Please, grow up a bit before making a post like that and do a little research beforehand.
Bowling is a great sport, please respect other people's opinions.
The truth is that the PBA's popularity has grown so much that bowling returned to network television with the Clash of Champions, which was so successful that it will return next season. In addition, ESPN ordered another summer season of the PBA All-Star Shootout this season.
Well, your ignorance is astounding, EmceeNolan. I know it's hard to refute claims, especially when they're typed in all caps, but when these claims are unfounded and made by someone completely oblivious, it's much easier.
The fact of the matter is that the PBA is doing just fine. In fact, ratings on ESPN have steadily increased each year since 2001. In addition, the PBA has more corporate sponsors and its highest membership in tour history.

How is that a tragedy? Brian Voss isn't exactly a loss. Parker Bohn III, on the other hand, is sad. He's one of the smoothest players I've seen, and he may never win another title.
Hmm, your tone and style of writing gives away just how old you are.
FYI, Nobody gave a shit about the tour in the 70's and 80's (except for bowlers). Now the tour has strong, youthful sponsors (other than just bowling sponsors). The tour needs to do whatever it must to stay in existence, even if it means cutting off a few expedible members. If not, the women's tour won't be the only one to go out of existence.
No offense but, bowling was more respectable in the 70s and 80s than it is now, so don't preach that "nobody cared". It's more of "We wish it was like 70s-80s"...
Hmm, how is bowling respectable when anybody can get their PBA card? All you have to do is average over 200 for two years on a cake shot, boom, PBA Card with membership fees paid and all..70s and 80s, you had no room. The conditions weren't easy, balls were very sensative, etc. Bowling is becoming worse off thanks to USBC.
Jeez...you know what...you almost had me convinced until you mentioned the cake shot. Okay, so most house shots are ridiculously easy, big fucking deal. It just makes competition that much harder. Perhaps you haven't heard of Sport Patterns, you know, the kind that force even PBA players to work hard for a strike. So anybody can be a pro, big deal, that doesn't mean bowling has become too easy. The best of the best are still the ones who stand out.

I know what a sport shot is, I bowl on them every other week..along with PBA shots every week, so thanks for the ignorant insult...idiot. So what? There's sport conditions available, IN SOME AREAS. TONS of centers don't offer them as a choice. Learn your facts next time.
Learn my facts? I don't know anything about you, I had to assume something. Besides which, you completely avoided the issue of sport patterns until I brought it up, dumbass. BTW, your statement further supports my statement, that since only a few centers offer it, there are that fewer players in the world who can truly be considered pros. Oh, and as far as I know, you're not one of them. Be sure to let me know when you're competing on TV.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Be glad to, jackass. People can easily get their card based off of a wall-shot. they don't need a sport shot to get their card. you can either average 190 on sport, or over 200 on THS.
WTF is wrong with you? You're not hearin me. Look, I understand that virtually anyone can get a PBA card off a house shot. What I'm saying is there's a higher level, and every one of those TV pros know that. I know that; you know that. In the end, that's all that matters. All of those other pros who make their wins off of child's play house shots don't matter. They'll never be the ones makin it big on TV. Stop complaining already.
Because I'm 17, and going to bowl collegiate at KU in about a year? Can't do both...Collegiate first. Funny how you can run your mouth on the COMPUTER.
He's too closed-shouldered, which would kill him i think if he had to swing the ball inside, and with his lack of hand, I don't think he'd be able to loft the ball successfully if the heads were gone and needed to get over them. A lot of different variables. doesn't matter.

Are you serious? Your ignorance is astounding. You have it backwards--the PBA is in SERIOUS trouble right now and likely won't survive much longer. The ratings (and attendence) have PLUMMETED since the dawn of the 1990's. Personally, I grew up in the 1990's and was highly entertained in those days...but the fact of the matter is; that's when bowling really started to go downhill. Actually, the writing was on the wall as early as the late 80's, to be even more precise.
Bwhahahahaha...23 is an "old bitter little ass muncher?" HAHAHAHAHA.
This world had probably gone to hell (when you look at it in relative terms) before I was ever born...hell, probably hundreds of years ago...but I can say without a hint of bias that the 2000's are an awful time to live in. You little asshats don't know how to do anything but text message and drink booze.
All I'm going to do is sit back and laugh while the "MUCH BETTER!!!" PBA goes out of business in a few years.
and if u hate the 2000`s so much then why dont u do every1 a favor and kill urself or better yet get off ur fat ass off the computr and take a look around the 2000`s is wher the world is discovering new things
What discoveries are those? How to come up with more stupid abbreviations for quicker cell phone text messaging? Or if we stick to the subject of bowling...laminated lanes? Bowling balls that do all the work so that there's really no such thing as a "power player" anymore? Idiotic announcers who want to take over the telecast and make it all about THEM?
And for your sake, I sure HOPE you're hammered right now...."r," "ur," "u," etc. Another characteristic of the 2000's youth--laziness.
Anyway dude, I don't really want to go off on you since it's obvious you're only a kid...I was probably as ignorant as you were when I was your age. But just trust me on this: The PBA is in big trouble these days. The interest in it has declined...and I personally don't find the sport nearly as enjoyable as it was in the past (either watching it on TV or participating in it).
neither do i and if u dont like it so much than stop caring bout it, stop telling other people who enjoy it that its plummeting.... that people are losing interest in it cuz frankly no one gives a DAMN
I posted that comment in RESPONSE to someone claiming that the tour is doing better now in terms of ratings/sponsors when that is flat-out FALSE. The tour used to be locked in as a mainstay on ABC, with consistent sponsors and viewing...and now it is in SERIOUS trouble (the writing is on the wall--it WILL go out of business within the next few years). And it seems to me like you give a damn because you're enjoying the product, are you not?
wow how great i think finally hes put the toc on! Just getting in the mood to watch some bowling then this half finish and what happens again you havent put the second half of the bloody match on again lol get a move on num nuts lol
you have to give jason couch credit, wolf. he has 15 pba titles(4 majors), and is probably the best left-hander on tour right now(not ever, just right now). plus he has won the TOC 3 times, no other bowler has done that. he is a future hall of famer.
I think everybody misses the 50 ft. ToC pattern.

I was at this last month, right next to the broadcast booth.
Dave Ryan didn't know how to keep score, after what, 4 seasons of broadcasting?
Also, everyone in the booth (Jason, Randy, Robert Smith) thought it was a tragedy that Brian Voss won't have an exempt card next year.
