I don't understand why this song didn't become another "crossover" hit. There are no twanging guitars or other elements of C&W.... it sounds as if it has almost full orchestration.  But no matter what charts it appeared on, it doesn't change the facts that it's a beautiful song sung by a beautiful woman.

I really liked her so much, but hated it when she decided to do the brow lift and make them look so pointed. I hardened her soft and natural look. Still, it didnt bother her voice any :)

@crystalgayleaddict I wouldnt have a date for her surgery..lol. Ask any plastics person, its unmistakable. Also, a very common procedure in the 80's. Take a look at the earlier videos...the difference is astounding. I hate plastic surgery, unless you have a master surgeon, you can get some really scary results. I know first hand, I spent a lot of time removing sutures for patients post op.

We saw Ms Gayle at the Orange County Fair Yrs Ago. My husband was

standing in line to get a soda & much to his surpsie, Ms Gayle was

infront of him. He said her hair was up on her head so no one knew her.

Within a minute, a lady came running up to her, asked for her autograph.

That started a "frenzie". She was so "gracious" to everyone,

but within a few minutes, Security came in & "Shielded" Her

from Her "Adoring" Fans!!

My Husband could not get over Her Beauty.

@DressedForDrowning tricky question... hard to define... She was originally pigeonholed as Country/pop ... She progressively slided from Country to Pop, sometimes bringing a lit bit of Rock, at least she can rock an audience! She always had been hard to pigeonhole! She just does what she feels good. Country, pop, folk, rock.

And finally she ends as as timeless classic.
