One thing people really have not talked about over the years with MJ is the fact that when he took the shot he did not hesitate at all. It's almost as if he knew the shot was going in. And a star was born!
Man i luv the NBA but NBA is known for not playing defense. And you know if a bunch of college kids can make grown men go crazy and bet you know it is the truth. WTF NBA players were once college players and they had to develop
Certain NBA teams and certain NBA players are known for not playing defense. But it's really dumb to say no one plays D in the entire NBA. Of course there are players who are amazing at D and of course there are teams that are make D a priority. While you could say defense use to be more of a priority as a whole, but again it's still dumb to say the NBA as a whole is known for not having any defense.
The only reason college basketball SEEMS like it has more heart and competition, is because of the lack of talent that goes around the nation. Think about it: there are 30 NBA teams, there are thousands of universities, the good talent is scarce in college because they are not all good enough to make the NBA. A star player on a national champion team can not even make the NBA and if they do, only some prosper. College basketball has to have more heart and "loyalty" because there is little talent
How does loyalty equate to excitement. The fact of the matter is, is there is no Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, or Kobe Bryant in college basketball. The college basketball product seems to get worse every year. The manner in which they play is also extremely annoying. So many of these college teams spend the entire game jacking up threes, many of them unnecessary threes from five feet behind the line.
College basketball prospects only get worse every year because every star players tries to get out of college as soon as possible and head to the NBA.
@DBCOOPER888 Can you blame them? I would do the exact same thing if I was a first round NBA prospects. Guys like Wall, Durant, and Rose chose the money and didn't want to risk an injury and potentially hurting their NBA stock. What's more important, 2-4 years of college basketball or a potentially phenomenal career in the NBA as soon as you are eligible.
That's utter nonsense. Some years are better than others but no it doesn't just get worse every year. I would also point out that an inside outside game is actually a pretty damn good strategy.
"heart and competition of college basketball"? You are such a moron if you believe that. College basketball is the most diluted crap there is. Does Dwyane Wade or Kobe Bryant not display heart and competition? Anyone who says the don't is a complete fool. The college basketball product is extremely poor and the tournament is the only thing people care about. The regular season is garbage and people ignore it. The NBA has far greater talent, it is a better product and it is much more exciting.
You think that the tournament is all people care about in college basketball? Oh, yeah. That explains why millions of people pack into arenas every year to cheer on their favorite team. And you said the NBA has far greater talent. Of course they do! NBA players have more experience; they're more stonger; they're more athletic. College basketball is more fun to watch because the players have loyalty towards their team. They're not over payed like some NBA players.
this is according to michael jordan the moment when his basketball carrer changed forever
i think that its amazing how great jordan was i love the fact that he actually played the best sport, college (bolded) baskeball, for 3 years and waited to go to the NBA the joke of all sports, college basketball and NBA are 2 different sports the NBA is a joke when compared to the heart and competition of college baskeball
don't forget SLEEPY FLOYD, who had a decent pro career himself. Also had one of the best 1-man performances in a playoff game, type SLEEPY FLOYD 1987 WARRIOS VS LAKERS, it is simply amazing.
It probably did at the moment, however he won a championship in 1984 and also has become a successful businessman. In other words he ain't no donnie moore
I predict that Carolina and Kansas will meet in the 2008 National Title Game. And, it will be the most hyped and most watched game in history! Think about the ties between Carolina and Kansas! Roy Williams was once the head coach at Kansas. Dean Smith went to Kansas. Former Kansas Assistant Matt Doherty was the coach at Carolina. Former Kansas Head Coach Larry Brown went to UNC. Also, these 2 teams met in the 1957 Final, and in the 1991 and 1993 Semifinals. Who agrees with me?
even tho GU lost by 1 point and also to 'nova in '85 by 2 points, that run from '82 to '89 was pretty amazing by thompson - 3 final fours plus 2 regional finals and they did it really w/ limited no. of mcdonalds all americans outside ewing and reggie williams.
LOL, Jordan stunk his last two years at NC 83 and 84. Jordan's last two years in college he laid an egg, scoring 13 points in each game against NC State and Indiana in 1983 and 84 and was put out of the tournament, this was with Sam Perkins another great nba player, what a shitty ending to his college days, guess he needed Worthy to carry his
what the hell r u talking about. he was great. he averaged 20 points dumbass, and was national player of the year. i don't know what u have been hearing, about how he stunk, but its wrong.
Check your facts first. He did average 20 points a game; he won College Player of the Year two times in succession, as well as the Naismith and Wooden awards. If that's what it means to stink, then I wish I stunk that much. The reason he was pulled out of the final game was because he picked up his 2nd foul in the first half and tradition dictated that he be benched.
one of the best college teams in history...and to think, Worthy led the team in scoring at 15.6 a game, Perkins chipped in 14 and Jordan 13, imagine is Coach Smith had let them run instead of the 4 corners stall...
Ever notice that it's Jordan who steps into Fred Brown's path to force him to pass to James Worthy? It's a defensive play no one really mentions because everyone fixates on his game-winning shot. Oh, and BTW, Fred Brown redeemed himself in 1984 (when MJ was already in the NBA) when the Hoyas won the championship.
Worthy was about 20 feet from where he should have been as a defensive player. He was out on the perimeter in an almost offensive position. No idea what he was doing there, but I can see why Brown thought he was a Hoya just based on his position.
Michael Jordan shoots the winning shot and then it is turned over again but the ball is thrown away b/c they already won. So yes Michael Jordan was a freshman on the team, who won it at about 17 secs left.
