Tommy is an even more amazing guitar player today he has given me lessons the past 3 years and i've known him most of my life. Great guy very down to earth
I used "reunion" when Paul Raymond and Phil Mogg were the only real past members, there were a few shakeups, but for me, Phil is a centerpoint of UFO, so as long as he brought the band back, I was pretty happy!
Glad I missed all this banter, but I disagree, the integrity of the band made the look respectible, they weren't degrading themselves like some Hair bands. Phil with HAIR is better then Phil as he is now! His hair at this point was not unlike the sleeve of Lights Out in 77!
I got into the band in 1980, so it was a cross between Schenker and Chapman, they were both most excellent and Chapman respects Schenker for sure. Pete Way fell out of passion for UFO in 1983, and I have the article from Hit Parader magazine declaring the breakup, then in 1985, the reunion happened, I was there and damn happy! Saw and met them in 1995 for Walk On Water in Milwaukee (MetalFest)
No, Walk in Water tour was 1995, I was there, I won't forget! hahaha Schenker back in the band, didn't last too long before another meltdown. The reunion in 1985 is this lineup with Simpson, Paul Gray and Tommy McClendon
Rockberto, Were you uploading Paul Chapman and Lonestar? Your name seems familiar, without checking your channel! I didn't mind McClendon at all, he's not playing the same style as Chapman and Schenker but he's got strong melodic sense, just the same
Yeah, but at the time, I felt the band were finding their feet and I enjoyed it right off the bat, not long ago I played it again! Still sounds good to me
Atomic Tommy is extremely underrated guitarist. You have to listen to the whole album to understand he was one of the few best metal guitarist during 80s. Not to much of a surrise, most of critics could not understand his talent. He uses alot of noisy sound effects and he doesnt even try to sound clean, but he always keeps great underlying melody. He was one of the two most underrated guitarists of the era. Him and Vito Bratta.
I agree totally. Ont he ballads from 'Misdemeanor' Tommy's solos have this kind of 'hanging onto control' feel whilst still keeping a great melody. I love his playing. The only thing I'd change about Misdemeanor if I could is the electonic drums.
...I listened to Tommy's solo here...not very musical in my opinion. To me it sounds fretty (like someone else said), scrambly (without a musical purpose) and generic. I have no doubt he learned many different styles and I suspect he may play them all competently but without the soul some of us refer to.
chamoisleather - I am done with you - you have gone from an idiot to a pimple on my ass. So go back to your Milli Vanilli, Backstreet Boys and Miley Cyrus played on your 8 track player in your trailer and I will go back to my top of the line Bose system echoing throughout my 4,000 square foot house. You are not worth my time anymore, Punk!
Jeez! Who asked for your pathetic life story. Remember this all started because you are a punk and took a shot at someone you don't know. It doesn't surprise me that you are alone and 'rosie' is your only relief from your stressful Wal-Mart greeters job. As far as you correcting my spelling - remember the light shines on a dog's ass at least once in his or her's life.
chamoisleather - do you have no life - you are wasting my time on an idiot like you - not my idea of useful time management! Crawl back under your loser rock with the rest of musically incompetant idiots and listen to your yanni cd's!
chamoisleather, I will say this and run along again. It is fine for EVERYONE to have an opinion, and to say you don't care for someone's playing style. I think posting words like faggy are a little out of line.
Tommy is a person like everyone else, and has had more fame than most, even as small as some may think. Does that leave him open to nasty comments? No, he dosn't care what others think, but I take offense to it because he is a friend, and my children adore him and his wife.
I respect your opinion but have a problem with you calling someone faggy who you know nothing about. And yes I am an American. You know the country that saved Europes ass during World War 2. You know the country that the world's economy is reliant on. You know the country that enjoys the most FREEDOM in the world. Learn your history before you bad mouth the country that keeps the world and your insignificant country free!
God you sound like an idiot! Having fun is one thing but ripping a guitar player off of one video just shows your stupidity. And by the way Tommy is too nice of a guy to respond to losers like you. So go back to your hidden New Kids on the Block collection and stop trying to sound like an expert on rock guitar players. It just makes you sound foolish.
Hey chamoisleather! Know something about music before you start criticizing guitar players. Tommy is a true musician always thinking ahead to the next passage without missing a beat. Tommy can also play any style and does not learn one solo and live on it the rest of his life. Its called musicianship not just being a trained monkey. About UFO he joined late in their run. So in the future let people who know something about music discuss players and you can crawl back under your talentless rock.
I will see him tonight and deliver your kiss. As of now he plays great and in any style I might add, (Would love to see Schenker try country)Remember this album came out about the same time as whitesnakes big album, what does the guitar work sound like on that? DingDongs come on here and post things, and if he is not your bag that's your business, but why say he is faggy? There is no need. Besides, I've seen EVH as of late, and he would have his hands full with Tommy, Bet on it. Running along.
What kind of pole smoker are you? I currently play in a band with him, and I tell you what, I will put him up against anybody, I MEAN ANYBODY. With your limp bone response, he would wipe the floor with you, then kick your ass for not getting up in the corners.
Don't speak for which you obviously don't know. Actually, he is so humble, he probably would not waste his time.
I always find it amazing what ignorant people write on this site, really, what do you have against him to write this?
I can't wait for u! ....great guitars by T Atomic from Bayarea, from another bayarea fun(San Francisco), I got this recording in Japan a while ago, well another nice era of UFO, from a fun.
Jim Simpson on sticks, keys and guitar were done by Paul Raymond, returning after a stint with Way in Waysted, very cool 80s project! Fin More!!! Paul Gray on bass, from the Damned IIRC
the solo of the guitar is excellent, Atomik is a perfect guitarrist!

Love UFO, but this was the band's lowest point ever. Jim Simpson's drumming and Atomik ("Smoke & Mirrors") Tommy's guitar didn't cut it. Sorry!

Played a gig with him last weekend and it was much more than "Smoke & Mirrors".

Of all the UFO GP I like Schenker the most and then Atomic Tommy.
