Sports broadcasting will never EVER be the same without the amazing man that was Harry Kalas. He was a part of Philly since the 1960's and he always will be as long as the world exists. God bless him.
I'll remember Kalas more for being as the voice of NFL Films (after the passing of the great John Facenda, who, like Kalas, was a legend). But being able to hear some Phillies games on the radio, though living 500 miles from Philly, he was great at that also. His presence will greatly be missed.

Harry Kalas was a GREAT MAN, somehow incredibly, even greater than he was an announcer, and that is saying A WHOLE LOT. What an incredibly sad week this has been. I was at the Memorial Service today, it was very emotional. It was done with class by the Phillies, in this very difficult circumstance. You could just feel the overwhelming love for this wonderful kind-hearted man, from those who were in attendance, to honor him. RIP Harry. Phils will NEVER be the same. We miss you so much already.

I am a Mets fan and loved to hear his voice. I lived in Binghamton, NY and could pick up Phillie games on the radio. I distinctly remember him saying, "Let's take a Tastycake Break.". We didn't have "Tastycakes" where I lived. It was cool to hear another team's broadcast. He was so nice to listen to. I feel for you fans in Philly.

Joe Buck is a fag. He hates philly. And you do realize Kalas is a local announcer right? He's not national. If he was national I'm sure he'd call the game differently. His popularity in our area is crazy yet if you saw him somewhere he'd record a message on you phone for you or talk about anything even if he was in a hurry. He was a stand out citizen in general. Not many people know this but Mickey Vernon is also a Philly Guy to and I to me Harry Kalas Lives For Ever Cause we got TV so every time they look at pass you will Hear Harry Kalas Voice every time Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalas were great together fan very funny together.
just a small thing, at the gym walking by the TV they had the first phills game on sence, i stopped took out my head phones to watch for a second. and even with all that we've have heard over the past week, i still listened for harrys voice over the TV...and felt a deep sadness when i remembered that we wouldnt anymore. but from now on that familar "0-2 pitch swing and a miss!" call will always be a little sweeter anytime i hear it for the rest of my life, Hard to believe, Harry.

In my mind I can hear Harry calling his last home run "outta here" and then close his eyes and pass on through the gates of heaven where he is now reunited with other radio greats Joe Nuxhall - Reds, Harry Carey - Cubs, and Myron Cope - Steelers. Harry along with the other voices were truly the voices of their respective cities. R.I.P. to each one and they are truly missed and will never be forgotten.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I heard Harry was supposed to have heart surgery in a few weeks. Plus he had a procedure before or during Spring Training. I just don't know if he was ready to go back to work. You have to wonder if he'd be OK now if he had gotten all that done and was fully recovered and then went back to work later in the year.
Harry's public memorial, this Saturday (April 18th), Lets all turn out like we did for the parade in honor of Harry. Lets also make sure we sing "HIGH HOPES" every 7th inning stretch for now on. Ill be there Friday night and Ill be singing the loudest in my section. Let the tradition start friday night!

Living in Michigan, I didn't get to hear much of Mr. Kalas' Phillies broadcasts (at least until I got XM Radio a few years back). But I certainly remember his stellar voiceover work for NFL Films, the old Alcoa Fantastic Finishes spots, the Campbell's Chunky Soup spots, and the occasional NFL game on Westwood One.

Sports broadcasting will never EVER be the same without the amazing man that was Harry Kalas. He was a part of Philly since the 1960's and he always will be as long as the world exists. God bless him.

I'll remember Kalas more for being as the voice of NFL Films (after the passing of the great John Facenda, who, like Kalas, was a legend). But being able to hear some Phillies games on the radio, though living 500 miles from Philly, he was great at that also. His presence will greatly be missed.

Harry Kalas was a GREAT MAN, somehow incredibly, even greater than he was an announcer, and that is saying A WHOLE LOT. What an incredibly sad week this has been. I was at the Memorial Service today, it was very emotional. It was done with class by the Phillies, in this very difficult circumstance. You could just feel the overwhelming love for this wonderful kind-hearted man, from those who were in attendance, to honor him. RIP Harry. Phils will NEVER be the same. We miss you so much already.

I am a Mets fan and loved to hear his voice. I lived in Binghamton, NY and could pick up Phillie games on the radio. I distinctly remember him saying, "Let's take a Tastycake Break.". We didn't have "Tastycakes" where I lived. It was cool to hear another team's broadcast. He was so nice to listen to. I feel for you fans in Philly.

Harry Kalas was all I knew.. I live in Philly and have grown up with the Phillies. Watching a Phillies game will never be the same. He was the voice, our voice. He will be missed..

Joe Buck is a fag. He hates philly. And you do realize Kalas is a local announcer right? He's not national. If he was national I'm sure he'd call the game differently. You really have no clue at what kind of person he was. His popularity in our area is crazy yet if you saw him somewhere he'd record a message on you phone for you or talk about anything even if he was in a hurry. He was a stand out citizen in general. Phillies world series champs not the cards.

Not many people know this but Mickey Vernon is also a Philly Guy to and I to me Harry Kalas Lives For Ever Cause we got TV so every time they look at pass you will Hear Harry Kalas Voice every time Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalas were great together fan very funny together.

just a small thing, at the gym walking by the TV they had the first phills game on sence, i stopped took out my head phones to watch for a second. and even with all that we've have heard over the past week, i still listened for harrys voice over the TV...and felt a deep sadness when i remembered that we wouldnt anymore. but from now on that familar "0-2 pitch swing and a miss!" call will always be a little sweeter anytime i hear it for the rest of my life, Hard to believe, Harry.

In my mind I can hear Harry calling his last home run "outta here" and then close his eyes and pass on through the gates of heaven where he is now reunited with other radio greats Joe Nuxhall - Reds, Harry Carey - Cubs, and Myron Cope - Steelers. Harry along with the other voices were truly the voices of their respective cities. R.I.P. to each one and they are truly missed and will never be forgotten.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I heard Harry was supposed to have heart surgery in a few weeks. Plus he had a procedure before or during Spring Training. I just don't know if he was ready to go back to work. You have to wonder if he'd be OK now if he had gotten all that done and was fully recovered and then went back to work later in the year.

Harry's public memorial, this Saturday (April 18th), Lets all turn out like we did for the parade in honor of Harry. Lets also make sure we sing "HIGH HOPES" every 7th inning stretch for now on. as a met fan i am sad. i listened to harry at times and he had that distinctive drawl and you always knew who he was rooting for and that i found refreshing. I know many phillie fans grew up on harry just as we did here with bob murphy. its a part of your life story. sad.

Its Ironic.......Jamie Moyer pitched the last game, Matt Stairs hit the last homerun. The only two guys alive on the team when Harry was hired by the Phils in 1971.

Living in Michigan, I didn't get to hear much of Mr. Kalas' Phillies broadcasts (at least until I got XM Radio a few years back). But I certainly remember his stellar voiceover work for NFL Films, the old Alcoa Fantastic Finishes spots, the Campbell's Chunky Soup spots, and the occasional NFL game on Westwood One.
