  • this is one bitchin' tune

  • Once I was a tumbleweed...

  • I can so relate to this song

  • AM I RIGHT OR AM I WRONG....million dollar question...SKYNRD ROCKS!!!

  • awsome

  • The Pentagon announced today the formation of a new elite fighting unit called the US Redneck Special Forces (USRSF) These southern boys will be dropped into Afghanistan knowing only these facts about terrorists: 1.The season opened today. 2. There is no limit. 3. They taste just like chicken. 4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus. 5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt...The Pentagon expects the problem to be solved by Monday

  • @SSKnight1942 Hell yeah send Hoss, Bubba, Cooter, and Boo, and tell 'em to just do whatever they've always wanted to do haha

  • @SSKnight1942 Very funny, but as being from the Confederates most likely they wouldn't want war against Afghanistan but with Washington itself. Shocking huh..

  • @eliezeriero wasnt it mostly people from the area encompassing the confederacy, who went to vietnam?

  • @timthemagicbus666 i believe the confederates were fighting the civil war... and well, Florida was like really common ground and traditions for all Rio Grande Republic states.

  • im glad the radio diddnt overplay this like "bad day" or "your beautiful"

  • One my all time favourites and thank you so much for putting it here........you see I am 7500 miles away from home and my Dad is dying in England and I cannot get back in time. So you can see this meant a hell of a lot to me right now. Who needs pictures when the music and words are so awesome ha?

  • @ipisboy1 and furthermore, my son back home knows to play "Comin' Home" when my time comes. I am sorry to be so morbid, I am not really, just trying to deal with the emotions ok

  • ♫❤♫❤♫❤♫ Ronnie Van Zant ♫❤♫❤♫❤♫

  • skynyrd is the best band ever. if anyone wants to argue that, just look up how many good or great songs compared to any other band. my favorite old song of theres is michelle but this is still a bad ass song.

  • My favorite Skynynrd album ever, for sho.

  • This is not from first...and last either...

  • Another classic by Skynyrd. However I`m not sure if they noticed when they cut the track that the guitar lines after Ronnie says "Take a listen poppa" sounds very similiar to "Gimme Three Steps" Which may have been why they didn`t release this tune, Maybe they planned to rewrite the guitar lines and never got around to it. I don`t consider Skynyrd a "Southern Rock" band, I consider them a great rock band, Period.

  • @DoubleVisionandco I'm pretty sure the "Gimme 3 Steps" riff was intentional. He was showing his "poppa" (in the song) how he had learned to play guitar, and was going to make it big.

  • @DoubleVisionandco My friend ,if you don't consider Lynyrd Skynyrd a Southern Rock Band? You are so very sadly mistaken. Now if that statement were rephrased to say. I don't only consider Lynyrd Skynyrd to be a Southern Rock Band but a great rock band I'll buy it. Taking Southern Rock band away from Lynyrd Skynyrd is like taking grain alcohol away from whiskey, THC away from marijuana.

  • @BigCookinCajun I`m well aware they are Southern. I`m Southern. However, if you read about them they`ll tell you the same thing I said. They didn`t want to be considered southern rock, Just a great rock band. It didn`t matter where they were from they could still rock one in the same.

  • holy shit! how many versions did they do of this??

  • 6 people are fuckin retards!!!

  • its crazy how this song makes you feel

  • great song,, but it was not from that album,,, it was from "First,, and last"

  • @velomir11 yeah it was from this album, this isn't the original. i'm not sure it was featured on the album's first release, but it was on the remastered cd as a bonus.

  • @boomhauer15 ,,,keyword being it was a bonus,, as I said it was originally on the album, "first and last"

  • papa i never meant to do you wrong

  • I was just a tot when the Free Bird fell,my sister had seen Skynyrd in Asheville North Carolina not long before the crash,She brought several souveniers home from the concert.I was hurt so bad for the band and for my sis,she absolutely loved Lynyrd Skynyrd.Ive loved this band since about a year before they crashed.I did get the opportunity to see the first tribute concert and Ronnie's brother didnt let him down. This is the South's greatest band of all time.I am Artimus Pyle's neighbor.Prettycool

  • I love that this music is still here and relevant, even if they don't play it on the radio, songs like this will never go away or leave the true fans of LS.

  • story of my life...

  • dude dats a bit of my life

  • Take a listen poppa...

  • Favorite album!

  • fucking raw, full of soul, aint found nothin better

  • This song rocks...

  • yeah its good and most good songs are not played on the radio enough

  • why do all the greatest have to die? Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Ronnie and the boys, even Freddy Mercury for christ sakes.

  • @BrettesHusband u forgot about randy rhoads and hank williams=[ it sucks

  • best song man.

  • bad company

  • EVERY version of EVERY Skynyrd song pre-1977 are instant classics.. This version is a little loose and I enjoy it much more than I do the more organized version on the Muscle Shoals LP. Although both are great! :)

  • Oh yeah thanks for the post man. This is my favorite Skynyrd album!

  • @chefadong. No, the "muscle shoals" album were songs recorded before they hit it big. It's a MUST HAVE for any Skynyrd fan. And it absolute is RONNIE singing

  • was i right or wrong, am i losin' and all i can do is write about it = the 3 i like especially now

  • I love this song and to think this was an extra track on Second Helping!

  • Love This Song!Id Say My Favorite Is "CurtisLowe" Or "All I Can Do Is Write About It".

  • My FAVORITE Skynyrd song... however.... the version from the "Muscle Shoals" album destroys this!!!!! (in my opinion). Just check it out!!!

  • @poopytruckdriver hmm i quite like the other one, is it JVZ singing in muscle shoals one, tho it does say its from 2000 so i guess so, this is really good too

  • first time hearing this made my heart melt, never will forget the moment

  • Awesome song...Not played enough on the radio tho

  • personally its my fave, haven't heard it on radio once..

  • @crwhitneythegreat thats cause there to busy playin faggots like justin Queefer

  • @crwhitneythegreat greatest song ever

  • kick ass song

  • spelled it wrong dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • Thank-you for adding this song. My dad used to play it all the time when i was younger. It helps bring back so many childhood memories.Thanks.

  • Hindsight is 20/20 always a good song to just drive and think too.

  • Northern Nevada. middle of the night on a road to vegas. Turn the wick up on the 496 chev

  • Do they ever do this song live?

  • nah

  • Huh... That's a shame...

  • when I wonder about my actions I come back to this song.

was I right or wrong. Who knows?

  • such a good jam

  • i love this fucking song and it took me forever to remember the name of it. THANK YOU

  • guys skynyrd just rocks dont argue about the government just cut the crap k? we're trying to enjoy music and try to keep the peace.

  • well you see fuck the goverment are you dum did you lose your house and every thing you owned and all that shit well i geuss you are just igornaint fuck spelling if you are going to bang your lips about shit post back drink whiskey seagrams 7

  • exactly just have to understand the lyrics.

  • Playing my violin.

  • Maybe they LS are as clueless as you are. The system of governemnt you're talking about includes the institution of slavery, which is the ultimate expression of racism. But I hate to argue about such issues here. Not the right place for such . Let's just enjoy the music.

  • Maxnned,

I don't believe I said they're racists. I simply said since they're so talented they don't need this confederate flag, the sign of racism and rebellion against unity, to sell tickets or CDs. I never accuse people of racism unless I know them personally. Sadly, I don't know any of them in person.

  • love this band

  • the swastika was actually a symbol of strength before the Nazi's adopted it, so think before u post..lol, anyways just cause this group is southern doesn't mean they were all about slavery, u don't know them so dont judge them, Lynyrd skynyrd was an amazing band, T.I.P tonnie, allen , leon , billy , steve and cassie, u all were amazing musicians,, forever lynyrd skynyrd!!

  • Another example why I think this band (pre plane crash) is the best ever. This is one of their deeper cuts and is MUCH BETTER than a lot of bands' best stuff.

  • hits the heart in a good way here...........

  • OK If you choose to remember ( remind yourself of) how your cities were burned and you were humiliated while you were trying to enslave close to 40% of Americans whom you considered worthy of being owned as property, go ahead.

If you choose to, fine. I'm simply saying Lynyrd Skynyrd is too talented to resort to gimmicks that undermine the universality of their music. Will a sane American listen to a band that waves the NAZI flag (swastika)? I don't think so. Over

  • Ever heard of Tool?

Oh, and just so you know, the Swastika is a universal symbol used by many many cultures.

  • What the FUCK. Lynyrd Skynyrd as a band was not racist. You don't know anything about them obviously. Ronnie Van Zant didn't like to be associated with the confederate flag - the record company belived it helped their image. Ever heard the song "Ballad of Curits Lowe"? It's about a black man Ronnie would listen to as a kid, and his mom would beat him for listening to him but he went anyways.

So, PLEASE, stop being a DOUCHE.

  • I agree with you but just to verify, Van Zant and Rossington said in an interview that there is no Curtis Lowe, he is a fictional character.

  • it was an overall view of all black blues players.

  • Indeed!

  • r.i.p. billy

  • The Confederate flag is a beautiful display of our southern pride and heritage...It is the primary influence behind many of these great songs.

You just simply cant like skynyrd w/o showing some respect to the south and its beautiful battle flag!

  • With such beautiful voice and well written music I simply hope that they don't go about showing that loser rag called Confederate Flag.

They are so good at what they do, they don't need this loser gimmick Confederate flag that simply turns off people. I love their music anyways.

  • Its not a gimmick. They were born and raised southern, get over yourself.

  • Yep the swamps of Florida.

  • oh... my bad! XD

  • "Ba bo ba ba bo ba bo bo bo ba na na na..." Ronnie at 2:51...lol, he was awesome.

  • wrong album cover , but wtf , great song , greatest band , piano seems to be stronger on this version

  • is this the demo version?

  • Please someone tell me what happened to Billy! I havent heard!

  • Billy Powell had a heart attack and passed away last week

  • sadly...

  • you're right. its from Skynyrd's First and Last.

  • R.I.P. Billy. Thanks for the music and the memories.

  • RIP

    Billy Powell

    June 3, 1952-January 28, 2009 (aged 56)

  • this kind of sounds like more of a demo version.... or maybe just the quality makes the guitars sound different from the album. None the less, GREAT song!!!

  • lol any skynyrd fan could tell u ronnie had no son, sheesh, the retarded things ppl say now days....R.I.P ronnie , allen , steve, leon , cassie. also, why in the world did they not play these amazing songs on the radio, this song "on the hunt" "made in the shade"i never dreamed" all great songs with no air time...so so sad

  • I never dreamed is amazing

  • I looooove this song....;)

  • No problem! You really need to check out Shinedowns "Simple Man" video as it is chilling knowing that's Ronnie's daughter and grand daughter in the video.

Also yesterday would have been Ronnie's 61st birthday! Happy Birthday Ronnie we miss you my friend! :(

  • thats sick saying your ronnies son!

  • There are always a bunch of crazy idiots on the Internet. Ronnie had two daughters by the name of Tammy and Melody. Melody married Shinedown's lead guitarist Jasin Todd, but they were divorced last year. If you want to see something eerie google Shinedowns "Simple Man" video, Yes the remake of Skynyrd's hit. Melody is the blonde in the video with Ronnie's grand daughter is in the video holding a portrait of Ronnie, it's chilling.

  • Rite on bro! thanks for the facts :)

i knew about the two daughters but did not know one married shinedown guitarist

  • ronnie never had a son lier

  • I can tell you as Ronnies' son that this is an original recording,he was the best, and the band went to shit after his death, this must be from those original Muscle Shoals recordings that Ronnie hated so much, because Muscle Shoals wants to do things their way,if you are a superstar in the "Shoals"then the whole Shoals will hate on you,Why?I'll nver understand, ask Max Russell,He'll tell you it's true.

  • dudde back in the day you wOuld blast it and set and checkout the album jacket ITS KOOL AND STILL MISSED no video needed thx

  • Man theres a Gimme Three Steps riff in there!

  • one of my fav songs by lynyrd skynyrd thx 4 posting

  • Such an amazing song. Definately agree that they don't make music like this anymore.

  • life story make em proud, once its done yo cant ever go home

  • great song

  • I like Allen's solo in this one better except for the faded beginning. (Wonder if that was a mixing mistake.) Would have been a good song for the "Nuthin Fancy" album I think...too bad they did not use it and put "Truck Driving man" on this album originally. It was omitted for sounding "too country" if memory serves...I doubt that was Kooper's idea. (I trust he learned when he tried to axe Simple Man from Pronounced but Ronnie would not let him.)

  • don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • I agree, consider the number of songs RVZ wrote in that short period of time, they don't make 'em like him/them anymore.

  • play 1 for mama now! man ,,can you imagine what could have been had they not crashed, they were really hitting theyre stride with steve in the mix of that 3 guitar attack. i think some of their best was yet to come.

  • SO TRUE

  • A FUCKING PLUS!!!!!!

  • this song gives me goosebumps, the lyrics and the riff are so fucking strong,

  • one song that skynyrd does ALWAYS give me goos bumps "all i can do is write about it" and well pretty much all of em thats what made skynyrd sound so great...... ronnie had the words and a story to every song that he wrote. you dont have to like em just listen to the words.. BUT IMA FRIKIN SKYNYRD FANATIC!

  • Thx for the post, a ls fave of mine. Had this in vinyl, loved the album cover, and made for a good rollin' tray also!! When the music was real....Bren

  • this is the best kind of blues/rock there is and my favorite band and better than modern rock

  • my dad turned me on to skynyrd when i first started listening to it...picked up a guitar and been rockin to skynyrd ever since!!!!!..wish i knew a radio station that would play the kings of souther rock!!!

  • Thanks to Josh67z for adding such a BAD ASS song.

  • This tune absolutely rips!!

Sends chills every time I listen to it.

  • If only radio stations would play songs like this instead of sweet home alabama, gimmie three steps they's realize how great Skynyrd really was!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Exactly thats y i stopped listning to the radio for a while it gets old.

  • Personally, I don't agree with that at all. You can get sick of whatever you want, but for me it's impossible to get sick of Skynyrd. Every person that hasn't heard Skynyrd hasn't actually listened to music. I'd rather listen to actual music like this than the crap they play now.

  • amen to that.

  • I have a bunch of their CDs and I hardly listen to songs like Sweet Home Alabama and so on. This one and others like I aint the One, Down South Jukin, On the Hunt and others are really good songs.

  • Hell YEAH!! I love em!

  • this song was put out years before Nivana ever thought about being a band..Rock on Ronnie Z!!!

  • skynyrd is my fav band, and the best part of this video is seeing that some people are putting up some awesome fuckin skynyrd that is not just sweet home alabama, i feel like not enough people realize how good there non title or single release songs really are, thanks for the post man!

  • Totally agree!! I haven't heard this song in quite some time and it feels like Ronnie singing from heaven to me right now!! R.I.P. Ronnie,Steve,Cassie,Alan & Leon!!

  • I like it, but I LOVE the version they put out on 'First and Last'!

  • Love this band so much, hoipe they come to the Netherlands this year.

    Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best!!

  • This isn't the one on First and Last - Is this a demo version? Wow I thought I heard all LS - This was one of my Favs - where'd you find this? Cool -Ronnie sounds more into this one

  • well its from the album second helping and it is a demo

  • Thanks - I'll look into that - I have the LP Records - problaby extra track on CD

  • awesome.i just got a new lynyrd skynyrd t-shirt. =D
