  • So many shit heads, who have no clue about anything in life seem to comment on youtube.

Metric system = FRENCH, what anyone who is sane in mind uses

English system = What the USA uses

When Rick says "meters in English is what" means he's asking, what is the English systems conversion for "Meters".

You dumbasses want to know why he asked that?

Because the show caters to a US audience...and heres a big shock, the US uses the English system of measurement not the Metric system.

  • In all fairness, Imperial units used to be called English units..

  • @Heat3000 TVTROPES.

  • These are the people that are hired to tell us what to think about the issues. Can you blame the media masters for picking such idiots?

  • lol, he could have said nine yards too, yes?

  • @czarcastik 1 yard = 0,9144 meter

  • He is the typical american sometimes you come across with sand in there pussy agitated.

  • ...you know, you'd think an American scientist would realize right off that nine meters is closer to thirty feet...

  • not only did they incorrectly pinpoint hawaii on a map but you cant do simple conversion in your head? what an ignoramus....

  • The actual English use meters too. lol epic fail.

  • @ImaginedWriter They SAY they use meters...

  • Bye Bye Rick!!

  • Uh... What? You do know there are two mainstream measurement units, right? Imperial and Metric? What's wrong with asking one to the other?

  • @SexyMelon

Uh yaa, Burma, Liberia... and what's that other glorious techno-paradise where miles meet feet meet gallons pints & pounds? Oh yeah Murka.

No wonder nobody wants to buy their farking exports. (Very old story here, I know)

  • Mmmm...DRRRROP...him from the payroll! XD

  • i hate scientists and their stupid units of measurement. i think everyone knows how big a meter is (about a yard) and can picture what 9 meters looks like.

  • As much as I don't care for Mr. Sanchez, one might consider the following. Mr. Sanchez asked this question so that the half dozen people actually watching him will understand what is meant by 9 meters.

  • Why is it that i live in Australia where the logical metric system rules yet i hear the kids of today using units they are not taught in school such as inches, feet, miles, pounds ?#*$%# It leaves me very vexed that because the USA is so full of pride and controls most modern media that our kids are regressing. Im sorry but for all you Americans who think the metric system is hard, you have obviously never looked into it. Its a joke, the reason we all switched was for simplicity.

  • @jc141810

When I started doing English-language proofreading and editing of documents for the oil & gas industry here in Indonesia I was amazed to see that everybody - including the Indonesians - customarily refers to feet and inches (along with barrels, which is another elderly specialized measurement index). It comes out of what was predominantly an American discipline, and has stuck around.

Come to think of it, there's some of this in aviation too. Pilots often refer to altitude in feet.

  • Actually 9 meters is rounded 30 feet (29 feet and 6.3 inches)

  • You care so much about this you recorded it with a camera?

  • Idiots. He meant the Imperial (British) measurement system.

  • Im cuban and english is my second lenguage and i understand what he is traying to say, when he say in english is a common saying in many parts of northamerica meaning explain to me, in this case in the brithis unit, because to the knowledge of those very smart northamerican the write here, there is a lot of white northamerican trash that they dont know about the metric system at all, for them 9 meters is ET lenguage.

  • I'm guessing the people criticizing sanchez on this aren't the brightest in the bunch....

  • lmao i remember this, What a stupid fuck , 7 meters lol ill bet the guy who copyed this video ran to his computer jumping up and down with joy like he won the lotto.

  • @FreedomFighterReturn What are you talking about?

  • Do you idiots not realize that he was asking the length in English units? The meter is not an English unit, as cguillenv is saying.

  • Comment removed

  • to be fair, metre is a french word....

  • That is very bad Ricky.

  • OBAMA-- please change the usa to the standard Si like the rest of the world!!!!!!!

    make our lives easier!!

  • lol most regular people don't understand scientific terms let alone Si

  • If you are one of the many who are glad that CNN dumped Sanchez, please give this comment a thumbs up. Thanks.

  • You guys are idiots. There's an SI system and an English system. This was a legitimate question. I don't know the English system (was born in Europe and live in Canada), but I know it's called the English system because it originates from England.

  • RIP ricky

  • Ha Ha!!! You filthy jews even your foot soldiers are turning on you. You're done the world all knows about you disgusting creatures now the American's are finding out. Your "New World Order" utopian fantasy will never be achieved. Pray to your lord and saviour Jesus Christ for forgivness that your hands may be cleansed; in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. Amen.

  • asswhole

  • @edffrgvffrgv You fag you take it in the ashwhole, go find a bridge but don't jump; wink, wink.

  • Wow! you've now got my vote for the biggest asswipe on the internet...

Go away nazi and shut the hell up

  • @edffrgvffrgv If NAZI is anti-communism, I am man yes I am. You go to hell edffrgvffrgv

  • The system that uses feet, inches, pounds and all that is called the "English" system -- so Sanchez is completely right to ask for the measurement "in English".

Beyond that, most of you people are shallow white supremacists who shit on him because you're just sadists, and it's convenient. You're degenerates and cowards.

  • @ThingsThatReallySuck The term you're looking for is "Imperial", not "English". Which is sort of important when you're trying to make that point.

  • @titoleibowitz Actually it is called both "imperial" or "English"...

  • Yes, you're right about that.

  • Comment removed

  • No it's not, you crypto-Klansman -- I know what I meant to say, and I chose my words perfectly accurately.

Both terms are completely equivalent, as the so-called "Imperial" system originated in ENGLAND, with the arbitrary measurements of things like the completely hyperbolized and mythologized foot-lengths of ancient kings. Thus "English" and "Imperial" are both equivalent and interchangeable terms for the same system.

Better luck next time, Cliff Claven.

  • ha ha.. idiot will be washing dishes now

  • wow....i don't really watch much tv so I wasn't familiar with sanchez. I have been sitting here watchin youtube vids of him laughing my ass off!!!! SO GLAD HE GOT CANNED!!!! HILARIOUSSSSSSS

  • Dumb a**

  • And the winner for the dumbest TV anchor man on Television ever is......RICK SANCHEZ! Rick, come on down (applause).

  • That scientist was wrong too and not at all well versed in the metric system, why? Well, he said: about 27 feet which led me to think that he was thinking a meter is about 3 feet, but, NO; 1 yard = 3 feet, 1 meter = 3.25 feet therefore 9 meters = 29.25 feet. About 27 feet to me is nowhere near 29.25 feet.

  • @l2pn1 oh come on, it's close enough for Americans.

  • @l2pn1 You are wrong too, though not that far off. 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm. Which goes with 1 foot =30.48 cm - and 9m=29.53 feet.

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahahhaa

  • Why would you assume that RS didn't understand the metric system. Isn't it just as likely that he was asking that question to enlighten members of his audience?

  • I dislike Sanchez as much as anyone (he's one of the biggest pricks on TV) but I'm pretty sure he was referring to English units, another (admittedly uncommon) name for the United States Customary System.

  • We so need to go metric. You buy an air conditioner using Btus, you get electricity in kilowatt hours, you buy natural gas in therms, food is in calories, and cars are in horsepower. Meanwhile, the metric world has Joules for everything.

  • @cdoftx Bloody Joules. They control everything

  • @cdoftx Damn straight! I mean you abbreviate "pounds" with "lbs"! Common!

  • ughhhh

  • Rick, 9 meters in English is...... wait for it, 9 meters!!!

  • HE is a fucking NEWS ANCHOR????!!

  • ok he is not ignorant he is just dumb

  • 9 Meters in English?????????

A 10 year old should know that.

  • Somebody taze this prick....

  • If the U.S. wants to use the imperial system, fine. It's their country their choice. What I find baffling and infuriating is that no one seems to know how to convert anything. Any time some one mentions a metric measurement, people act like the person is speaking gibberish.

    F.Y.I. 1 metre = (approx) 3 feet 3 inches. (39.37007874 inches to be exact.)

    So 9 metres = (approx) 29 feet 6 inches

  • dumb yank

  • Rick Sanchez proves on a daily basis how completely UNQUALIFIED he is to be on a major TV news network. He's arrogant and ignorant. He makes a decent appearance BUT then he opens mouth and screws up constantly. With all his years on TV, he has never gotten any better and he never will.

CNN would do well to fire him.

  • @S955US84 It took some anti-semitic remarks to get it done, but CNN has finally fired him

  • @S955US84

    your wish is granted

  • @maxcaviar - Yes, my wish and that of millions of others as well. CNN is waking up. Sanchez was never up to that job.

By his own choice, Larry King is leaving too - another good move - he's been on way too long.

  • @S955US84 You got your wish!

  • @S955US84 They sure did!

  • @S955US84 ----- Your wish has come true.. CNN just fired this BUM

  • @S955US84

    He got fired recently.

  • @S955US84 He was in a position where instead of reading a teleprompter he had to be able to carry on an intelligent conversation - banter - etc and he does not have the depth to do it. He kind of reminds me of the Will Farell comedy movie "Anchorman". Stay classy!

  • I'm not a fan of rick sanchez, but he is correct in this case. Inches/feet are called english units

  • @AjaPuppy Inches/feet is a "Standard" measurement. We have both Standard and Metric in the U.S.A.. Not Metric and English. Nice try moron.

  • @AjaPuppy Actually they're called Imperial units or in the US also the Customary system- which is more or less the same. 'English' Units are actually very old and come from medieval times, but I think you guys in the US still derive some of your measures from that, so maybe Sanchez is partly right without knowing it!

  • im sure rick knew the answer to the question himself.. he was most likely trying to break it down for some of us american viewers who dont use the metric system. and i think most americans should know what the slang term "in english" means. it means "put into understandable terms" 50% of your everyday americans dont know the metric system.

  • @ooooooSCORPIONoooooo and those who do know barely use it

  • I knew what he meant since the very moment he said it, "English metric system". what is the problem?? white people are just really mad cause they dont run anything anymore. The Jews run the media and they're hiring minorities. I love KOSHER

  • always has been a major moron.

  • Oh my God !he said English, for the English metric system, called imperial but we all knew what he was talking about. The main question here is, why are you still using it?

  • Shouldn't a reporting professional working for a major news source like CNN be well-versed in converting between "English" and Metric? Oh wait, are you telling me there's actually very little education and training required? What's that? They put a HELP WANTED sign in the window and hired him after he left his job at the deli? What's that? *I* qualify for the job? Heck, sign me up!!

  • currently rofling at all the irony in the comments

  • I am an engineering student and you have to be a dumb ass not to know that what he meant by english, there are two measuring systems, the SI units, which the rest of the world and the British units, which is maily called "english" units!

  • @cguillenv Thank god someone here has a functioning brain

  • @cguillenv I bet 2:1 he wasnt thinking about what u just stated. but I argue that all over paid news actors should at least know that 3 feet is roughly a meter

  • @krabadie Im pretty sure that he did it for clarity of the viewer so they could know what that was in feet!

  • @cguillenv

    That's not what he meant!

    Come on!:)

  • @cguillenv actually the English use the metric system and Sanches and others use the imperial system. The rest of the world uses the metric system. You must be American. You made quite a blunder.

  • @Whistlejocket No, you bumbling idiot. In American English, we refer to our measurements as English units. It is an acceptable name for it. This is an American website. Don't be surprised if Americans are correctly using American English.

And if you want to get technical, we use the United States customary system, not the Imperial system. Look it up on wikipedia.

  • @acarnis American English is not a recognized language because it contains slang or an adulteration of English. So you need to accept the term "Imperial" and "meter" because the rest of humanity does so. American English? hahahahhahahahahahah

  • @cguillenv You're correct, cguillenv. Don't listen to Whistlejocket; he's an idiot.

  • @cguillenv Get your money back then, British Imperial units and American units aren't the same, so that makes it 3 systems.

  • Just another reason why Foxnews is #1 in ratings

  • at least he didn't say whats that in american! ha

  • Wow CNN you hire some smart ones. How low are ratings?

  • most people would not say whats that in English? they would say how many feet is that? or how many inches is that?

just the way he talks drives me nuts

  • THERE ARE 2 UNITS OF MEASUREMENT METRIC AND ENGLISH...WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Go to a tool store and ash where the "English" tools are. they will point you to the ones that are measured in inches and feet.

Is the planet so stupid that they dont know what Metric and English units of emasure are????

  • Uhh.....what exactly are the school education requirements to join CNN?

  • the metric system is just so much more better and logical than the imperial

  • @surfinme agreed, quite unlike your grammar ;)

  • "English" is another name for "Standard" measurements like feet and inches and pounds. He doesn't mean the language.

That said, he's still a moron for not knowing how long a meter is.

  • On December 10, 1990, Sanchez struck a pedestrian, Jeffrey Smuzinick,Smuzinick was paralyzed and eventually died in an assisted living facility in 1995.Sanchez fled the scene of the accident, not to return until hours later.he registered a blood alcohol content of .15 and was charged for DUI only. Now, do you think you could get away with it? He's commited murder and got away with it. If he weren't a CNN left wing activist he would of been charged with murder.

  • 9 metres? convert it to english please! doesn't any body speak god damn american!?

  • I don't get it. Why is him asking for the conversion between Metric and English units strange?

  • It's strange and ridiculous because anyone with a lick of education whether in the USA or any other place in the world knows that one meter is a little over three feet.

  • I don't know if you live in America or not, but over here we call them "Metric and Standard" not "Metric and English" English would imply that all English-speaking countries use the Standard units of measure, but that's not true.

  • I've never heard of "standard" units. I've only heard them called English and Imperial units.

And no, "English" does not imply anything about all English-speaking countries. It implies that the units were at one time the official units of England, which they were.

  • @Ziiiv I thought about the "English" thing after I posted it and yeah, you're right. They were the standard units of measure in England, but I've never heard them called English.

Besides, it was the way he worded it in the video, It made him sound like a dumbass.

  • AMERICA: FUCK YEAH!!!!!!! he should see a doctor about his brain injuries>>>>>> OH YEAH HEATHCARE is not free there...ahhh............I SMOKE ROCKS

  • would it be a good time to adopt the metric system :P

  • @Darusdei yes that would be awesome, things are much more precise in the SI units, and the dealine for a International system has gone by and we are still not change to it.

  • @cguillenv. i think your military uses it and of course in medicine.

and everyone who produces materials to overseas (since everyone else is using the metric system) :)

  • Why that'd be 9 metres governor!

  • 1 meter = 1 yard = 3 feet.

good job rick sanchez you babbling moronic idiot.

  • 1 meter does not equal 1 yard=36 inches, but rather 39.37 inches

  • Unlike drastically misplacing Hawaii, I'll give Rick a pass on this one. Even if he knows 9 meters is approximately 27 feet, his attempt to clarify for American viewers is more than reasonable. And the scientists knew exactly what he was asking.

But misplacing Hawaii by some 3500 miles is not so easy to overlook.

  • lol.. true.. thats why he is a scientist and Rick Sanchez is THE scientist. If you had seen this news further down, you would have seen he talking about "yins to yangs" to ask questions on action reaction.. rick needs to get some basic science lessons before he tries to eye Pulitzer for "breaking" and "analyzing" a complex geographic phenomenon

  • actually the metric system was invented by the french. so technically Rick asked the right question

  • If he did ask the right question, it was coincidental and totally beside the point. If you listen to the man for more than 30 seconds, you quickly learn he is extremely self absorbed, and horribly ill informed. CNN is insulting us all by keeping him on the air.

  • @acesonfire No, a meter is an english word so, nine meters is pretty much nine meters. Or if said properly in english: nine meters

  • Has this guy ever owned a watch? Doesn't look like he has one on.

I wonder if Rick can tell time on an analog clock.

Oh yeah, also on watches....."Water Resistant to 100 meters: Approx. 333 Feet

  • "English, ************. Do you speak it?!"

  • yea 9 meters is actually 29.5275591 feet, but that guy was pretty quick to think about it in his head lmao

  • It s not that difficult... Meters x 3.3 :)

  • This guy should be fired. He is an idiot.

  • @TheArmy19D

Calm down. "In english" simply refers to putting something into language that is easily understood by the lay person.

His "BIG CRIME" is that he is slightly off in it's use.

If this is all the ammo that people have against this guy, he must be pretty fucking good.

  • @SickBoyZap5

Oh my God even I am wrong on this! Thanks 'dac8555'.

"dac8555" is right! As he said: "THERE ARE 2 UNITS OF MEASUREMENT METRIC AND ENGLISH". Duh!

Remember the english "foot" and "furlong" crap? that was called "english" measurment before they came out with THE METRIC SYSTEM!!!!

Fuck! Rick is actually too smart for the nerd who posted this!!! EL OH EL!!

    (Even me) :(

  • @SickBoyZap5 I thought this guy's big crime was he crippled someone in a drunk driving hit and run? What lay person does not know what a meter is? Is this the same guy that could not find Hawaii on a map?

  • @TheArmy19D

1st of all. Why the hell do you have such a hard on for this guy?

Why do you know that much about him? WHO THE FUQQ IS HE?

He was on "Videos Being Watched Now" and I thought it was funny that a talking head made a 'big' mistake- a 'fail' vid.

Turns out he was right. By the way, you said: "What lay person does not know what a meter is?" It's not "what" a meter is dirtbag! It's what does 9 meters convert to in ENGLISH measure! Dumb fuqq!

  • @SickBoyZap5 So you are one of the dumb people out there that need a meter desribed to you in English measure? I guess people that watch CNN do need their news dumbed down a bit.

  • @TheArmy19D You got your wish.

  • @TheArmy19D he was fired, today, for making really f*cked up comments about Jon Stewart and Jewish people as a whole.

  • @TheArmy19D CNN should have hired you! you could have saved them the trouble months ago!

  • @TheArmy19D HE'S GONE NOW!!

WHAT A LOSER! ENJOY YOUR HOMELESSNESS RICKY RICK!

  • @TheArmy19D Done.

  • @TheArmy19D You got your wish!!! And mine -- I hated this dick from the moment I saw him!

  • @TheArmy19D lol, thats funny. He was just fired today.

  • @TheArmy19D He did.

  • @TheArmy19D --- Your wish just came true

  • @TheArmy19D Good news, everyone!

  • you are wrong, world concensus: Canada is the best country in the world.. culturally, economically, socially, environmentally, ethically...

  • In England, we often say "What's that in English?" if someone uses the metric system. We don't mean it literally! It's like if a lawyer uses legalese, you say "what's that in English?"

  • Fun Fact: Liberia, Burma, and the US are the only three countries which have yet to adopt the metric system (otherwise known as the International System of Units) as their primary measurement system.

  • And we are still much better than any country in the world. "The US evil for not adopting the metric system" lol

  • @yvaliquette Yes but the Brits still use miles rather than kilometers for some reason.

  • @yvaliquette Officially, yes, however, if you look at the English speaking world, Canada, the UK, and Australia (not so much the last one) represent over 75% of the English speaking world and they have only half become metric

  • Rofl! What a complete moron! And the weather guy is an idiot too. 3 meters does not equal 27 feet.

  • @HungryDingo he said 9 meters... its even in the title ass. 27 feet = just under 9 meters.. quick thinkin i say

  • @djsdanny the title has an ass?

  • Yeah I knew it was 9 meters, I was thinking a meter equals close but slightly over 3 feet. It's like 3.05ish feet.

  • good thing dirty rick doesn't work at nasa

  • Dirty Rick Sanchez. Has he been on a drunk and killed anyone lately?

  • HA 27 ft my ass, more like 6 in and a waste of a day

  • @Deadman96789

HA 27ft my ass i know man its more like 29.527 ft that tv guy is a complete retard.

  • @al8ino The precision of your convertion suggests that you looked it up to try to look smart. You should have said '29 and a half' to give it credibility. Unless your some kind of math badass.

  • Good god cable news reporters are so fucking absurdly stupid.

  • what a dumbass reporter..

  • and people rely on them for politics and important information about how to live there lives....

  • Stupid american fuck.

  • lol

  • @ObamaPress

your vids are funny! keep them up.haha. wat are the chances of seeing someone quite famous on the comments. lol

  • hope no one ever mis speaks again.

  • Americans may have life too easy so they lack the drive to learn and achieve because they don't need to. There are many who choose to learn and that is why so many technological advances come out of the U.S. Space travel, defense, the internet, the light bulb, Bell Labs . . . It is also why most of your countries probably send students to our graduate schools.

Yes people in America can be uneducated idiots and still get by so some choose that path. Many in your country would if they could.

  • That is what I always wanted to say to "the stupid american" comments. But English being my second language, I couldn't say it so clearly as you did. You sir/madam are very very wise.
