That model came out in 1938. By 1942 they were different. A little oil on the center shaft should stop that buzzing. Also tou need to make a rubber center spindle.
Wow that is so cool. Your record player is before my time but I am thrilled by stuff like this. Listening to it I can almost imagine how much joy it brought to the original owner.
I don't know how much its worth but I'll bet a small fortune for sure. If I were you I wouldn't sell it, at least not anytime soon.
The "DUO JR." was RCA's "Depression-era" special, because it was marketed for those who didn't have [or could afford] "regular phonographs"- indeed, you could plug it into a special "jack" on the back of your radio, and you'd have something to play your "78's" on. Attachments like this were partially responsible for the resurgence of recorded "78" music after 1933 {the industry almost collapsed during the dark days of the Depression in 1932-'33, when VERY few people were buying records}.
Will you love me when my pump is on the blink? Will you love me when my rear-end's worn and torn? Will you love me when my rimrod's old and rusty? Quite the wordsmith, Benny Bell, hehe. Great little player! Like the Zenith, too.
My parents had an Admrial very similar to this in mahogany with a 12 inch tv. My aunt had an Admiral combination in modern blond with a 21 inch tv, which she purchased in 1951. Don't see them much any more. That is one unusual 78 RCA record player. I like that Capehart radio. They were qualit radios.
