I got you beat ,trying to get supplies in winter. My 2 trucks broke down at virtually the same time and I had only a Cub Cadet lawn tractor to go to the market 4-5 miles away. I strapped a plastic milk box onto the tractor`s hood and took off and made the round trip in only 1 hour or less, counting the 15 minutes or so to get groceries, going about 2-3 miles an hour with chains on the tires. I have white-finger, so I was a hurting buckaroo when I got back.
Haha, that is pretty funny riding a lawn tractor in. We had to snowmachine in and out to this cabin day in and day out for several years. No fun doing that 6 days a week when it stays a -30F to -40F for many many months.
Hi, It certainly helps to have some horses under you. I suppose if you have proper clothing layers to wear, and face protection, it wouldn`t be too bad, going 40 mph in below 0 temps, as long as you can see where you`re going. :0)
Yep we couldn't buy a cover for the snowmachine, so we had to pack towels inside the engine compartment to keep it from filling up with snow. The cooler and freezer were our outdoor "freezer's". Two four wheelers in the background, covered, and skies outside to keep them cold.
Hahah.... It was a crazy storm. Any little pin hole in that house had snow blowing through into piles inside that place. That place sucked badly. We had no running water and had to ride the snow machine in and out for work every day. So we had to haul our water, food and fuel to heat with every day from town which was 15 miles away. That sure was an adventure. Good Times....., Good Times......
