You think the European Space Agency and NASA should go to orbit, find what's left of Marcopolo and then if it's safe back home on Earth, it should be sold to the British Museum as a tribute to BSB TV?
Why? IF Marcopolo re-enters the atmosphere, it could still be sold to the British Museum, or something, all it'll take is a little re-painting or a replica of Marcopolo 1 could be shown in the British Museum!
It didn't re-enter the atmosphere, it's too high up for that. Marcopolo 1 is in a graveyard orbit at 36,046 x 36,138 km while Marcopolo 2 is at 36,051 x 36,123 km. Too high for a shuttle mission.
BSB had technically better picture quality and excellent digital stereo sound(Sky had sparklie PAL pix with fairish pic quality and hissy FM analogue stereo sound unless you had a PANDA1 satellite receiver then things usually sounded better in PANDA1 stereo and mono modes).
Another one of my clips graces YouTube.... I hardly need to run my own site anymore! - I'm always on the lookout to post these old clips - this and other clips can be seen in the full glory (non youtubed) at orbitalzone dot com
In 1981 BSB gave birth to Sky Channel - which was a European cable channel. In the mid 1980's about 1985 BSB sold Sky due to debts. By time BSB tried to have a second go Sky already had the mass market and so kills it parents - the company that gave birth to it
probably due to lack of channel choice., with only 6 channels, whoopy

The Satellite Encyclopaedia claims that Marcopolo 2 was sold to Telenor (Thor) for $42 million.

Should NASA go into orbit and find what's left of Marcopolo and show it on display at the British Museum?

I bought a BSB system when they announced its days were numbered. They sold all the equipment cheap ie £40 for the decoder and 'squarial' etc
I had my squarial inside the house on a makeshift bracket and it worked a treat. Cracking pictures for about a year+ then it went off as expected.
Even managed to convert my DMAC box to a D2MAC decoder so it lived on!
I remember having to ring up to get my box 'authorised' ... BSB did it for free! Fair play man.
OMG - those were the days!!!

Astra had Sky, Marcopoly had BSB.
Sadly there was only one winner, and that was Sky Television.
BSB and Sky merged to form BSkyB in 1991.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
BSB used to own Sky but sold it before it moved onto satellite. Sky Channel used to be a cable only channel. It a strange twist of fate

Are you crazy? BSB was founded in 1986 by Granada, Pearson, and Armstad. It had nothing to do with Sky Televison until 1988-89-90.
