I liked when you said "so please if my little angel smiles at you, dont look away smile back" i work with a 2 1/2 year old who has recently been diagnosed with AS, she is as happy and beautiful as your child and as you put below, she can be uncooperative too but what children cant :-) I noticed this video is from 2007, so your daughter is older now.. I was wondering, how has she progressed since the video ? i have researched a lot but only find information on young children with AS.
@cassandrajoanne She has somewhat progressed. Her seizures have worsened so progress has been slow. She has learned to jump and hand feed herself as well as walk up and down stairs. She has regressed with talking. She's down to 1 word now.
Maliah is absolutely beautiful! I came across your video as my daughter works with special needs children and she called me today bragging about one of her girls whom she just adores. She told me to go to YouTube to see your little girl so I know what Angelman syndrome was. The joy in your heart for Maliah just shines through the photos you put of her in the video and the love you have for her shows in the song you chose! I am sure her smile lights up any room she enters!
My little sister has AS. She's 13 now and the youngest of five. And people are sometimes turned off by how much my siblings and I hug and kiss her. But how can you not when they are just so sweet. And I'm truely glad that if she had to have any special need, that it's one that does not put her in pain and that she's a happy, healthy girl.

I work in the ER at our local hospital and a 25 year old girl came in today, screaming and screaming and when they calmed her down I went into the room and my heart just broke. I soon found out that she has Angelman syndrome and the Mom brought her in because she was screaming and crying all night like she was in pain. My heart and mind will never forget seeing her. Good Stuff... just learning about this condition in Genetics. Hopefully we can develop good treatments in the future with the knowledge. :-) People always focus on cures, but I dont think 'curing' everything is the way forward, its about giving people a good quality of life, regardless.

Maliah is absolutely beautiful! I came across your video as my daughter works with special needs children and she called me today bragging about one of her girls whom she just adores. She told me to go to YouTube to see your little girl so I know what Angelman syndrome was. The joy in your heart for Maliah just shines through the photos you put of her in the video and the love you have for her shows in the song you chose! I am sure her smile lights up any room she enters!

My little sister has AS. She's 13 now and the youngest of five. And people are sometimes turned off by how much my siblings and I hug and kiss her. But how can you not when they are just so sweet. And I'm truely glad that if she had to have any special need, that it's one that does not put her in pain and that she's a happy, healthy girl.

Honest to goodness, that video brought me to tears...not sad tears...HAPPY TEARS! My sister's daughter is an Angel IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD! We understand how trying it can be, but we couldn't be MORE BLESSED, and neither can you! I swear, when I look at her, I see perfection. WE are the imperfect ones! She sees the goodness in people too....we know who's worth knowing just by her reaction to them!!!

When my growing granddaughter, who has AS, couldn't be fitted with large enough bibs, I took out my sewing machine to solve the problem. My project, Sophie's Smocks was named after my granddaughter.
I use new and gently used turtlenecks and trim. The smocks are FREE for people with AS size 6 to adult XL. All you have to do is email smocks@cox.net . Give me your child's shirt size plus a name and mailing address including zip. No obligation. I'll send one as soon as I can. smocks@cox.net

I work in the ER at our local hospital and a 25 year old girl came in today, screaming and screaming and when they calmed her down I went into the room and my heart just broke. I soon found out that she has Angelman syndrome and the Mom brought her in because she was screaming and crying all night like she was in pain. My heart and mind will never forget seeing her. People seem to forget that we really do adore our children and that we have way more wonderful times than bad, and this just proves my point! We are lucky enough to also have an Angel in our family (he is 2 1/2) and had done so much for our family and friends.............these children are truly a gift from god!

Good Stuff... just learning about this condition in Genetics. Hopefully we can develop good treatments in the future with the knowledge. :-) People always focus on cures, but I dont think 'curing' everything is the way forward, its about giving people a good quality of life, regardless.

Everyone loves him because he has an angel's smile just like your daughter's. I really do like the last sentence of this video 'so please if my little angel smiles at you, don't look away, smile back. It's just her way of saying hello.' It touched my heart! My brother also has angelman's syndrome. I can finally relate.
Can your daughter speak at all? My own brother uses sounds and his hand motions to communicate. Not hand signs, but his hands fap when he's angry or excited. Does your daughter do that too? :)
