Is this a good issue to jump onto this series with?
By the way I don't get it: on marvel subscriptions it says that 47 is the current issue. But 45 is te most recent to come out. Does this mean I'll get 47 and onwards if i subscribe to it now or 45 and onwards? I thought you'd know since you subscribe to it.
Is this the video you were going to make about gay people? Apparently some guy whom people think is gay and turns out to be true. But this is immoral.
Even the Liefeld Solo Shatterstar TPB from 3 or 4 years back, still had him as the warrior who's only focus was being the best.
I don't know. Maybe it's because these were my two favorite characters on X-Force, but i feel like their characters were changed and made gay, just for the sake of having gay characters. Might as well make Cable and Deadpool gay then (not really, don't do that marvel). Previously their relationship had all been about Shat wanting a friend, not love
Well actually aparently this is because fans constantly asked Peter David if he'd pick up on the Rictor Shatterstar thing. So it's the fans. I didn't read X-force but aparently alot of people thought they were gay before.
Comic book characters go through a lot of changes as different people pick them up and write them. It's possible that a deep friendship can turn into something more if both people are open minded enough to let it happen and these characters obviously were,at least as far as most fans saw it and obviously Peter David agreed. Just because Shatterstar's in a relationship with a guy doesn't mean he will be any less kick-ass..look at Midnighter.. :)
I'm not saying Shatterstar is any less kick ass because of it, just that it was one of my favorite aspects about him was that he had no sexual desire at all. It was nice to see a character that didn't need a love interest. And i understand characters change, Shat's was a subtle believable one. But Rictor was a complete rewritting of the character. Last we saw him he was heading back to his Drug Dealing Family in Mexico to help with some family issues. And even though he obviously become ...
a good guy, he was still a kid from the barrio. His Chicano heritage and the gangster life he had grown up with was a huge part of his character. Then Peter David writes him into his X-Factor and suddenly he's some whiney Emo kid? Huge change! It would have been like Beast disappearing for a few yeas and then having him written into a new book as an illiterate Retard, and for no good reason other then that's the type of character the writer wanted.
Granted, little knowledge of the subject matter, but that was one thing i didn't like about Rictor being on X-Factor was that he was suddenly the Emo kid. Back in X-Force, he was the Cholo character which was somehting i found interesting, cause there wasn't another Ganster Latino Character in marvel. He was a bit of a tough guy. I just feel like his character was completely rewritten from the time he left X-Force to when ever he started getting used again (X-Factor i assume).
What it was, there was mention in a X-Force (i think it was an annual) of Shatterstar having a wife on mojoworld. But of course being a prize gladiator, it can be easily enough assumed that their marriage may have been only for the goal of breeding a better warrior.
And that was one of the appeals of Shatterstar to me. He didn't need a love story. He was just striving to be the ultimate warrior. I know it makes for a flat character but he was like the perfect ever improving samurai.
I'm definitely looking forward to this issue. I've yet to get my monthly delivery, but as long as Peter David is writing X-Factor, it will always be in my pull box.

47 is the first issue you'll get.
It's really not a great jumping on point. But I don't think it's a terrible one.

I think I'll get it by trades.

Don't make a same mistake I made. X-factor vol. 1 is actually the second story. The first is Madrox; Multiuple Choice. Get that first.

Ultimate Colossus and Angel are still a couple right?
jadennova 2 years ago
I don't know. I don't follow Ultimate X-men.
blowshimselfupdude 2 years ago
I thought it was Colossus and one of the Hellions, not Angel.
