I'd like to state right now that Emo is a loaded term, from all angles. Since when did Lyrics dictate what genre the Music would be in? Vocal styles are one thing. Music and sound is another. LYRICS have absolutely no jurisdiction as to what the MUSIC should be classified as. Common Fucking Sense. Does that make Killswitch Engage or the Foo Fighters emo, because they sing songs that educe romantic emotions?

Think on that for a bit before you throw that loaded term around.

Calling this new shit on MTV Hardcore is an insult to bands like Bad Brains, Minor Threat, so on so forth. They are emo...they're emocore as it was started back in the day. Emotive hardcore is basically hardcore punk with introspective lyrics and a slightly less abrasive style. They're as "emo" as real emo gets.

Really? Caution's probably the most upsetting album I ever bought, totally dissapointed. Compare this with where we belong, present or rocksinger... you can't. this is a review on jade tree about the hwm/alk3 split:

The instrumentation seemed to be very average emo, with the usual monotonous guitar rythms. The vocals were very rough, scratchy in nature and very different from the smooth vocals of Alk3. While I know this is what HWM is like, their cover of Radio really jerked around; their cover of Bleeder wasn't much of an inprovement over the original. I am confident that HWM will improve their sound, but they have a long way to go.
