I also have the 1st Gen iPhone (3.1.3) but after pressing the "Restart SpringBoard", nothing happens -- it shows the little thing at the center of the screen but it just keeps on rotating.

To tha person who's asking how to delete tha thing off of tha springboard.. Download CyDelete from Cydia. And I think yu might have to enable it from settings? But then all yu have to do is hold the icon(like yu would an AppStore app to delete it) and then a little x should appear on tha Cydia app. Then yu just click it and it's gone.. Hope I helped.

alright i had this, then i tried deleting it but from cydia, the normal way, and it deleted from cydia and i went to settings and it was gone. then i went to the springboard and it was STILL there! HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?

Yeah hi, when I restart springboard, ipod goes into safe mode because the springboard has crashed. It says on ipod to exit safe mode to restart springboard to try again and exit safe mode, but I ended up doing an itunes restore and re-jailbreaking. Can anyone help?

Ok they're two diffrent ways we can do this here's the first method

Have your Ipod or Itouch commit a crime that's serious enough to get in into a state penitentiary this should be simple enough. Now comes the tricky part the actual jailbreak. Think up someway to break your ipod out of its prison. I recommend watching a Prison Break marathon to help you out. Once the ipod is out find a safe place where authority's cant find you and check your ipod. You should now see Cydia.
